$6 to $8 gallon gasoline...effect on park business?
Ummm, yeah . I am close enough to walk or bike, but by the time I got to the gate, party's over-I'd be looking for a sleeping spot

$6 to $8 gallon gasoline...effect on park business?
I wish my employer would allow 4 10 hour days. It would help people like me with the gas budget and would also shorten the work week. As it is now, even with my gas sipper, it still takes a hunk out of my monthly budget-which is almost entirely just driving to work-not to mention the costs of maintenance, ins. etc, which makes it almost not worth it. I rode the Cal Tran in San Francisco and it was wonderful. I can't remember what it cost back in the late 80's, but I'm betting the cost made it very attractive, plus you had the streetcars. They had tons of park and go lots, and they got plenty of business especially after the quake. Safety would be a big thing though, and realistically I felt safer in San Fran than any city in Ohio (although Cincy is a close second).

History was made
The media saying we are in recovery is bs-there are jobs out there, but minimum wage. I was in dayton yesterday and its looking really bad and even more dangerous. Moraine especially, the GM property is starting to look delapidated. I know people are finding jobs, but less than what they left and not a living wage. I see this being the new economy-myself, it's a matter of time. My dept is slowly being consolidated and outsourced-it started in the south and is moving north-I have a job through this year, but they won't talk about 2011. Se la Vie.....

anyone stayed at the Motel 6 in Mason?
Being able to open a window is important to me as well. Most hotels I have stayed in have a stuffy, nasty smell, and anymore I would rather sleep in the car than think about the source of it..... I dont travel much anymore unless I can camp or make other arrangements.

A Victory For Kings Island Is A Victory For Mason!
Perhaps KI should look into going back to deerfield township. All I could hear from the council was how much of a "burden" KI is to their public services. If they're that big of a burden, then go back to deerfield and they won't have to mess with it any longer-problem solved. I think less of the council for their attitude toward the park-and the black eye is well deserved-Mason would be nothing without them, period.

A Victory For Kings Island Is A Victory For Mason!
No matter, if I am still a mason resident in 2013, my vote will be to remove him.

Well said, Beatle....I second that Mr. Stoneking. I especially took offense at your comment that everyone should just stay home. Bull**** sir.

Me too. Proves there is strength in numbers-and its time we all stood up to detrimental policies.

Kings Island to Host "Tax Tailgate" Before Admission Tax Vote This Monday
If I'm not mistaken Bradburn was the only council member that voted for the tax. I am going to find channel 5 on here now-I still can't get my tv to work.

Winter training 2010
Wait til you're in your 40's-its hard to take the weight off, period, short of getting sick which I did 2 years ago. I eat what I want now-the key is moderation-my workout plan consists of moving to a place that has a weight room (since Mason p***** me off with this tax proposal, I'm outta here). Simple things like taking the stairs, walking after work etc. My desk job doesn't help-since I got eliminated from the hospital, I have put on about 45 pounds-no biggie, I still fit in everything, but not much longer. In my move I will be on the ground floor which will help with getting my bike out. And yes, soda is a bad thing-I rarely drink it anymore, but I do treat myself on occasion-strictly throwbacks

KENTUCKY KINGDOM CLOSED
Good luck with that. They shot themselves in the foot with their arrogance. These local bureaucrats trying to squeeze every nickel out of their businesses is only hurting them in the long run.

Kings Island to Host "Tax Tailgate" Before Admission Tax Vote This Monday
Exactly. That mentality is the problem. Not to punish the park, but I wouldn't think twice about protesting the tax by turning around....I have done it on other trips with surprise costs, even long distances. I am that way

Kings Island to Host "Tax Tailgate" Before Admission Tax Vote This Monday
Disgusting. I live here, but may not always live here-as a resident, and as a person who probably won't live here forever, the tax is bad either way. As usual, our representatives are not being fiscally responsible. I think they need to "table" this idea-permanently. A handshake is a handshake. I am a little person-but if this passes, I am leaving Mason. I will not live in a town that does not keep its word. They work for us, period.

Wow-looks like Bradburn is trying to "buy" Mason citizens. What an ass he is-what personal financial gain does he have from this whole idea?

KENTUCKY KINGDOM CLOSED
I don't know all the terms of the lease, but it appears to me greed is involved here. The situation is similar to what is going on in Mason right now with the park-a profitable attraction, let's see how long we can dip into the coffers. I never made it to KK so I have no opinion on the park itself, but anytime a major employer closes, the community will suffer dearly, and maybe the fair board should consider that fact. I would like to see flying dutchman returned to KI, but I suspect this situation will become a ****ing contest and the rides will sit in the elements until they are not usable-that is what happened to Wonderland's Bush Beast trains....

Winter training 2010
Out of respect for my downstairs neighbor, I dont try the Wii or any of that kind of stuff, and since theres nothing else really to do here, I am kinda stuck-plus I have a desk job now which doesn't help. Until the weather improves, I'm stuck-can't bike on ice.

Fields Ertel is much worse than KI-I drive that way almost every night and it starts backing up on 275. I have hit fields ertel from all directions and no matter what, its always bumper to bumper-to the point I don't patronize those businesses around there. I still think they need to leave columbia and western row alone. In fact, once I pass fields ertel, I can lay the hammer down.

Kings Island to Host "Tax Tailgate" Before Admission Tax Vote This Monday
I took that day off work and I will be there-if this thing passes, I am 99% sure my summer job at the park won't be there. Round 2..... I am still steamed that they could not define a plan for the tax funds-fiscal responsibility and accountability has become a major issue in this country, including our local representatives. As far as the interchange, I see nothing wrong with the way it is now-leave it alone!!

The Son of Beast Discussion Thread
Or they could just bring it down like they did Riverfront and take a little over a minute. I think with all the bad publicity over the years it will just quietly disappear one offseason.

Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
No apologies necessary-its just the way of the world now-and I am adjusting my life accordingly. If I had a business plan and an idea that is needed, I would do it. At this juncture, I am looking toward retirement now-I no longer want to set the world on fire. I do know that my current field is a complete mess, and Im sick of dealing with it. Sad as this sounds, I want to get laid off, but its not happening When our company was bought by Blackstone, our ceo stood down the same day-im sure his severance was pretty enticing. Makes me sick.
-
Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
Ugh, ugh! Blackstone! Right before Christmas, they moved our billing department to India-and their English is even worse than the IT department. What they say is scripted. We are being directed to deal with these people before moving the call "onshore". Our delivery tracking system was also "enhanced" and now it takes a full 3 minutes to even load. Instead of helping people get home on their equipment, my whole day is now spent jumping from the US to India and major frustration. I still dont see how this way of doing business is desirable. It's no longer about a good solid American work ethic, its about the big guys turning a quick profit. Time to cut my losses and get the hell out. I sure hope KI doesn't turn out like this.

$6 to $8 gallon gasoline...effect on park business?
Guess I will be riding a motorcycle in the near future and looking for a way to work at home.
