  1. I see nothing optimistic about this at all. Eliminating those jobs permanently is a bad move-which is going to detract from the overall experience at the park. It's the same all over.
  2. I couldnt remember the questions, so had to copy from another post. Caricature? No. I love to watch it being done, that takes a lot of talent. Name made of wood? No. Something else I like to watch. Play games in the arcade? Not since 1985-most of these games make no sense to me now. I have the original nintendo and play games from that era (when it decides to work). The antique photo-I think me and my sister considered it, again in 1985-but we didn't follow through with it. If I recall, we went to the leather shop (the current DB shop) and then headed over to wild country safari. Ride Zephyr-absolutely. It is peaceful on a hot summer night with the wind hitting your face. Great topic-we need more along this line-is a good one to find out more about each other. Peace.
  3. Juries, when there is one, decide the facts. The judge can only decide the case if, taking all the facts in favor of the opposite party, there is no way that can win. That would be called a "summary judgment." So, yes, the judge can decide the matter at the conclusion of either side's evidence, but it is unlikely. In some states, when a summary judgment is entered that late in the case, the jury is "directed" to return such and such a verdict, but that is far more common in criminal than civil cases. As for windshawne, parties with special knowledge of the facts of a case are normally either not allowed to serve on a jury or are stricken by one side or the other using one their "pre-emptory" challenges. Exactly. I know it would never be allowed-however, I just think this particular case is very interesting.
  4. You know, one thing about all this still puzzles me-and maybe I am reading too much into it. If a park sues the company that built the coaster due to structural design flaw, doesn't that show a jury they KNEW the ride is not completely safe? If it was me, I would CYA-and would have never allowed the thing to run after the purchase-I would have bulldozed it.It's like adding on to a historical house-it can never be completely "right". Another example-I sat on a jury in Cali-was a domestic abuse case. There were 3 counts against the husband-1 we found guilty, 1 not guilty, the 3rd was "hung". Guess what? I was the lone juror who would not agree to convict him on the 3rd count. Reason being, the police waited 3 days to take pics of her bruises. Their reasoning was it would show up better. I held out because they did not prove "beyond a reasonable doubt" that he did it. Three days is a long time, and I could see the possibility someone was paid to do that to her to darn the defendant. Chances are he did do it-but I was not completely sold on it. I would love to sit on the jury of this case.
  5. You thought all 20+ people had broken sternums and no other injuries? Please tell me this comment was a lame attempt at humor. This will end up being a case of "he said, she said." What I mean by that is: since RCCA started the original construction that was later taken over by Paramount, who is going to be accountable if the plaintiff claims the accident is due to faulty construction/ design/ materials. Then add is the lawsuit that KI filed in 2000 http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2000/11/2...sland_sues.html This case is going to get very messy, and everyone will be getting involved. My recollection of the incident was 2 broken sternums and the rest were minor injuries involving treating and releasing. I dont remember reading about any hip injuries. I am not minimizing what the woman claims, I am just recalling what I have read. Look at the track record of this coaster. I wouldn't want to be in the defense position right now.
  6. I thought the injuries involved cracked sternums, not injured hips.
  7. I think this will be a real eye opener to those who think that is a gravy job.
  8. Thank you. Through it all though, I believe it won't be forever. I am working hard towards a different direction
  9. Ok, I held out as long as I could. I have a different perspective on this whole acquisition. I work for a health care company that was bought by Blackstone about a year ago. Let me tell you, it has not been for the best. We had massive layoffs-I'm talking people who had been with the company 10-15 years as well as newcomers. Our location personally took over business from a closed branch in Indiana. Even though we have increased our business by 1/3, we did not gain extra staff. They cut our staff down so bad, we can barely take care of the patients. You know why? So they can turn a profit. Thats the truth of the matter. They also outsourced our IT department to India. We had a printer go haywire on Monday. We used to call our central department to handle an issue like that. It took them at most, an hour to resolve the issue. Now, we have to call India. Their English is so bad, the can't even spell ****. The printer crapped out at 9am-by 2 pm, my coworkers were still on the phone with them trying to explain the problem. Their typical answer is it will be resolved within 7-10 days. That is unacceptable in health care, period. I am still trying to decide how wasting 3 coworkers time, 2 of them managers, for the majority of the day-well, how can that be profitable? I dont know how this is going to affect Busch, but from my standpoint, it has ruined my workplace. Every single one of us is looking for a way out-and we are all so tired from the overtime and stress that we have no life outside of work. I suspect after they've spun our wheels for a few years, they will show a "profit" and we will be sold again. And who says healthcare isn't about money? One final thought-a big shot is coming in today unannounced and you know what? I hope to hell I get a pink slip....
  10. Saturday night, I saw 2 guys try to jump the Diamondback line-it was interesting, because the trains were stopped for some maintenance issue, and the line was clear to wings. So anyway, when the line started moving, out of no where these 2 jerks ran up there and tried to get in and cut everyone-everyone in the line, including the employee, yelled at them to get back-those guys gave up, and walked away. They weren't interested in riding, they just wanted to see if they could get away with it. Assholes. Since security can't be everywhere, if its a group effort, a lot of it can be deterred. I hope those punks get the maximum for this incident, and I'm sick of these people thinking they deserve preferential treatment. The officer that was assaulted is one of the nicest guys I know.
  11. My response for me personally is laziness, although part of it is financial too. I doubt I get back there any more this year. I enjoy the pics as well.
  12. Yeah!! I enjoyed that-he was very happy eating over by the end of the gravel road. I have seen several of them in the park recently
  13. That video is very disturbing to say the least. I agree, they ought to find a way to cover the cables to protect them from the elements. Stuff still happens-I wonder how long its gonna be before Bambi wanders on the track at Beast. When I went through last summer, he was standing by the track eating and was very comfortable with the train running through just a few feet from him.
  14. I'm no expert either, but I think there may be something to the helix theory. The first hill is fun, after that it is sheer hell. Most on here know I am arthritic-so to the naysayers, why is it I can ride Beast and actually feel better and then compare to Son of Beast when my day was done? Cost would be a factor, but the only thing that would make it better would be to remove that helix and put it toward the end-like the other poster said (I forgot, sorry been a hell day) a few more hills would have made it an excellent coaster. Not everyone sues for an injury on a ride. I know of one person who would never step foot in a courtroom for that reason.
  15. This is the most sensible post I have seen on this subject. Being silent fuels the rumours. Giving credit to one friend, this is not the CIA.
  16. This is an odd post, but I always wonder what kind of shoes the Wallendas use. I can't imagine any type of shoe being safe for that, yet they all seem to be able to grasp the wire with their feet.
  17. Another interesting thing... http://www.norwalkreflector.com/articles/2...t/iq_791947.txt Man who died after Firehawk Ride Said to Have No Prior Health Problems:
  18. Amen Terpy!! I am saddened with what this has become. What should we do? Good question. I am totally ok with PM's, but personally, I think my time is done. It's been fun guys, I mean it. I will be back, but its gonna be a while. I think we all need to step back and just cool down for a while, and realize we all like each other and stop the bickering.
  19. Well I get sick and tired of reading class warfare comments. Since the author showed me the angle he was taking that was as far as I needed to go. I am in no way wealthy but at times I have chosen to do a fast queue system like last year at Universal when I only had a few hours to get through the park. I think Disney does it the best No charge and is available to every ticket holder. Have to agree with ya there. Money seems to be all that matters, so I got a bigger apartment where I can spend most of my time holed up in it. I am ok with that. I was middle class, once.... Its ok though-if you got it, flaunt it, just not for me. I believe perks like this are the reason line jumping is such an issue at KI now.
  20. Oh, nasty!! Poor guy......
  21. You hit the nail on the head. Haunt 2007 I paid $5 for a pretzel due to low blood sugar, and it was not edible. Hard as a rock and horrible. I will carry crackers or something now. I have noticed on La Rosas the crust keeps getting thinner and thinner. Yuk!!!
  22. I went to Bob Evans last night-granted this was Saturday, supposedly the busiest day for any restaurant business-and the lot was only half full. My past few trips there it has been dead. What recovery???
  23. The food at KI is horrible, and priced out of sight on top of it. I went to Coney-had a burger, fries, beer and I forget what else-$10. At KI I can get a beer for just over $7. I gotta tell ya, the burger was as good as something I would make, fresh off the grill. So guess who is going to get my discretionary income?
  24. I have found going through the gates alone (which is 99% of the time I go to the park) will stop that. ON the other hand, I dont have any ill will to them-they are trying to make a living like the rest of us. Instead of showing your a$ which most of the public does on a regular basis, a polite no thank you would do a lot better. I sympathize with you my friend. I am in a public service position as well, and in the line of fire of nasty people hourly. And then have to put up with the boss saying your numbers aren't good enough. There are better jobs out there, unfortunately not enough of them. Vent all you want!!
