  1. Exactly so. The lot is in horrid shape. I was at the park today and saw some guy giving the age guess attendant holy heck over the age thing-actually becoming argumentative about it. All he wanted was a freebie. Observe people in the lot as well-its no better.
  2. Which brings up the question, how much is enough? What the hell would one person need with that much money, period?
  3. It's the same in every company, and its not right. There is absolutely no incentive to do a good job in today's working world. My regular job gives the same raise to the good employees, as they give the slackers (when we even get a raise at all, which as of this moment has been 2 years). I'm trying to figure out if the world has always been this way, or if I just recently pulled my head out of the sand.
  4. Great pics-I love that park!! I especially love the fact its in the middle of nowhere, and still has that family feel to it. I have only ridden Voyage in the back, so I can't comment on the ride from the front. It can be rough, but I have found just keeping your arms down during the turns will prevent problems. Very well built coaster, and great report!!
  5. I never got to visit GA when I lived there-and ironically it was on the other side of 101 from where I lived. That whole area is so congested, this is just going to be a major cluster. I honestly don't understand what is wrong with the stadium they have.
  6. I liked it too, but will not be riding again due to that first drop-it is too abrupt when it starts going back up the lift.
  7. I was there last weekend, and I am almost positive the "Pepsi" has been removed.
  8. Here is everything you wanted to know about torando warnings and more. First in this area all weather warnings are issued by the National Weather Service out of Wilmington. Watches are issued out of Oklahoma and the storms prediction center. A Tornado Warning is issued when a trained spotter has confirmed a tornado on the ground or when doppler radar indicates a possible tornado. The sirens in some cases are sounded when there is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning when a Tornado Watch is issued. This depends on the county. Also with the Emergency Alert System these sirens also can be programmed to sound automatically when a warning is issued. Under the old Emergency Broadcast System warnings were issued for complete counties, under the Emergency Alert System which was implemented in 1997/98 the ability to issue warnings for "sub divisions" of counties became possible as it is a digital system that works on a web of communication rather than a chain. The storm in question on May 21, was issued for South Eastern Warren County around the Butlerville area which is 10 miles to the east of Kings Island. The storm was moving away from KI towards Wilmington. To the poster who gets panic attacks during the storms I completely understand as I survived an F3 tornado that touched down extremely close to my house at the time (light polls across the street were bent at the bottom like a pretzel) in Jan of 2000 in Owensboro, Ky. The power of those storms are nothing to mess with and should be taken serious. Also a couple of years ago I was on The Beast when a Severe T-storm popped up. That was not a fun ride as hail, lightning, and high winds provided a painful ride on my bald head. One thing Kings Island should do is when storm warnings are issued is use the PA system to inform and direct guests what to do and where to go. Anything else is irresponsible. As far as workers having umbrellas, during a thunderstorm that would basically be walking around with a lightning rod. Hooded jackets would be much much better option for keeping employees dry. Also you can not operate rides safely when lightning is in the area as it can travel as far as 30-40 miles away from the center of the storm. The park closing for safety reasons makes the most sense, especially when the storms train the way they did that night. Scott Evans Weathercaster - Radio Forecast Network, heard locally on 1160AM mid-6a Very interesting!! As a survivor of the Xenia tornado of '74, I am fascinated by all of this. I agree, the park needs to come up with a plan. Selective, I can't believe that sup said they had no plan since the park had never been hit by one. That just floors me. I would like to take that person into Xenia to live for a year-I guarantee their views would change. I suggest management look at contacting Xenia's risk management dept since they have trained other communities in emergency preparedness-lord knows, they are experts on the subject. I have no problem with the park closing early that night, they did the right thing. Staying in an open area with the storms going on, is just plain stupid. Honestly, I can't understand the complaining on here about KI's decision to close early. I can believe they have no plan, http://www.youtube.c...h?v=NI27jlwNk2E Until one lives through tragedy most seem to not worry about the problem until its too late, which is why we have an ocean of oil right now, no plan in case of tragedy.
  9. Sorry, I think you misunderstood. Storm preparedness was not covered in my dept. In fact, a year ago we were standing outside during tornado warnings, and had no clear direction on what to do. I was not concerned about it, common sense says take cover. My point of this is this particular issue needs work at the park. Personally, I am interested in selective's viewpoints, just as anyone else can form their own opinions on his comments.

Nobody should listen to the lies and arrogance of selective Oh really? I'm an associate as well, and I only know where one is. Don't you think thats kind of important all associates should know where all of them are? All storm situations, I have handled by personal experience at the park.

  13. I see a couple of things wrong here. Number 1, the band incited the behaviour by getting the crowd riled up to defy authority. The second issue, is I only saw one guard keeping his eye on the crowd-the rest were watching the show. I worked loosely for Bill Graham in San Fran Bay area. One thing we were taught from day one, is that we were never to look at the band before, during or after the show. If he caught a guard watching the show, you really got taken out, and Bill was not someone you wanted to p*** off. I am guessing by what I observed on this video, is that the crowd noticed security's lack of training, knew they weren't paying attention, and took full advantage of it. Once security figured that out, it was too late-and the mace was probably a panic reaction since they didn't know what else to do. Now, since the band made big issue of it after the incident, this is all going to balloon into something that could have been prevented-both sides are at fault in this instance, and I guarantee if the crowd rushed the stage, the band would have been complaining about people being up there. This is a no win situation any way you look at it. Those kids are not free of blame here either-the vulgar language doesn't make me respect them any.
  14. Speaking of storms and computers, we just had a power surge about 20 minutes ago, and now my laptop is stuck. I think a reload will hopefully fix it, but that will be tomorrow's project-and it got zapped because my wireless card has not worked in over a year so it was plugged in. Lesson learned.
  15. I dont know what to think about all this. It just kinda sounds like overreaction to me. I'm no expert here, but looks to me like maybe they could have let some of that go. Lack of training maybe, or perhaps they didn't know what to expect and it just got out of hand? When I worked in San Fran, we had a meeting before every concert, depending on what type of clientele was coming in we were prepared for what to expect. Will be interesting to see how this turns out.
  16. .38 special-that was a good one-and the only one I saw there.
  17. What a blessing they found it, and kudos to the park for going to such lengths. I know I have witnessed many engagements at the park, and that was kinda special.

Now that is a place I forgot about, but yes their food was excellent. We had one in Xenia until the tornado took it, and they never rebuilt. I did see one years later at Vallco (sp) mall in Sunnyvale-I doubt its still around though.

I like Del Taco-I wish they would get them here. Didn't know there was one in Toledo, guess I will have to trek up there.
  20. I really need to visit HW. Anyone up for making a trip maybe in July? I am interested in meeting up. I have to renew my AAA, as well as replacing the halfshaft on my Scooby. After the Honda collapsed from that last December, I don't want to risk a lengthy road trip until that is done. But yes, that park is well worth visiting. It is very common to see management there interacting with the guests-Mr. Koch was greeting us as we returned to the station on Pilgrim's Plunge, and I saw Ms. Koch several times during the day, and each time she greeted our party.
  21. 1. Yes, it does. I'd rather not walk through a cloud of smoke everyday, kthx. 2. Actually, I walked through it many times last year. Remember, when you assume... The fog during Haunt is much worse-it is too thick. I can't tolerate it, gives me a headache.
  22. I am appalled by the condition of the former paramount story area. I remember when it had the waterfall working, the fish in the pond and it was such a nice place to go and relax. I dont mind that being a smoking area, but for god's sake, don't make it look like a dump.
  23. Great pics. I took a few, but still learning the camera I have, they didn't turn out quite as nice. I noticed on the test runs, that damaged part of the train was removed. Voyage is rough, but heres the difference-it won't hurt you. I ran it about 5 times during the day, and am not overly sore. Had to be the best coaster I've ever been on and I can't wait to return later in the season to try out the new trains. Voyage is what a coaster should be, hands down. If SOB is to be saved, gravity group needs to do it, period.
  24. My goodness, fiesty aren't we!! Same disgrace happens on the track with those d*mn restrictor plates. Any originality and skill has been stripped from the sport.
