I am just gonna stand on the sidelines and watch this one. No matter what is done, I will not step foot on SOB regardless what is done with it.

Holiday World
I think I'm going to stay off Maverick personally-the turns appear a little too rough for my liking. It's all a matter of what you are looking for in a park. HW is great for the family atmosphere, KI is great for the thrills. I especially enjoyed the antique shop (can't remember the name) at HW. I saw things in there I had as hand downs from my folks-and boy I would give anything to know where that stuff is now. I haven't been to dollyworld, so I can't comment on that one.

Holiday World
I couldn't find anything wrong with HW, honestly. The way they run the place is how it should be done.

The whole concept just doesn't appeal to me-being zipped into a big plastic bubble in the hot July sun-no thanks.

Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming
My electric company reads my meter by driving a car down the street...and the meter is in the basement. It sends a radio frequency to the car...the company has not been in my basement in years. I did that in dayton, but they had to do an actual reading once a year. I'm glad I don't live there now. The way this summer's been, it does cross my mind.

Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming
This is nauseating-I just got a tax bill from mason-I don't own property here, and they got money on the 15th, so why am I getting another bill? I pay higher taxes in my work city than mason. I tell ya Alaska is looking better all the time-up there, they use binoculars to read your electric meter-the company won't step foot on property because of the risk of getting shot. Sounds to me like that's the last truly free place in America. I doubt the people up there even know what a red light camera is

How will $4--$5--$6.50? gasoline affect theme parks?
What I would like to see, especially at my job, is staggering of the workers, and 4 day work weeks. That would cut transportation cost for me personally, and the work would still get done. We are shorthanded daily, due to someone always being off, so why not? I may just suggest that....

I wonder if social security will even be there for me. When gas gets to that cost, I will either be riding a motorcycle (weather permitting) or biking to work. Hopefully, I can find something close enough to do that.

Restraint Opens Mid Ride On La Ronde's Boomerang
That same thought crossed my mind. Everyone poo poos that as it has two "electronic" restraint systems-I am not a fan of electronics as they can fail. My last ride on demon has been discounted on here-but I swear the restraint didn't lock-and there was no back up seat belt.

Best Place for a...
I had mentioned this story before, but I was at Epcot back in 84 or 85 and we were on that thing that goes in the silver ball. Towards the end of the ride, they snap your picture and display it for the whole train. Well, this guy was groping his girlfriend and it displayed on this big screen tv. To my knowledge, he was not prosecuted-the embarrassment the man had from all of us seeing that was punishment enough.

Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming
It makes things worse. I have seen people speed up if they are in that "point of no return" zone, and I've also seen people slam on their brakes and create another accident. Those things need to go, period. If Sandusky is that hard up for money, they don't need my nickels.

FUN TO REFINANCE; SELL NOTES
I don't know what park that is, but I would not stay there if that were the case.

FUN TO REFINANCE; SELL NOTES
Not sure about Coney's situation, but isn't there a certain degree of liability involved in not having water available? Like, if someone where to have a heat stroke, couldn't the park be held responsible? Good question. If I remember correctly, they had a similar issue at the second Woodstock. Robbie, you are correct-ice water is the drink of choice this year.

Kings Island: A Perspective from Southeast TN
Not really true as inflation has remained relatively low over the past 30 years and wages have gone up, at least until this recession. Gas was not 50 cents in the 80s either, the cheapest in my 35 years was in 97-98 where it dropped as low as 67 cents per gallon. In the 80s it hung around a dollar if I remember correctly. My copay is 5 bucks for generic and was free until last year and if you have no insurance some drugs at WalMart, Meijer, Kroger etc are anywhere from free to 4 bucks for generic. Currently me and my wife only spend about 50 bucks per week on avg for food at the grocery store, though our electric bill is much higher than 15/mo. The key is budgeting regardless of what you make and not spending more than you earn. If you don't make enough to cover basic needs such as food, utilities, shelter, transportation and medicine then you need to find a way to generate more income. I work two jobs, if that doesn't generate more income, nothing will. I am also single, so its just me worrying how to pay the bills. My copay on one drug is 34 bucks-sounds like your insurance is better than mine. I drive a 12 year old car with 251K on it, and I am in the cheapest housing I can find. If you have two full time incomes coming in, life is a lot easier than one. Don't judge someone else's situation if you're not living it. As a side note, I don't have cable and I have the cheapest phone plan I can get. The only luxury I have is internet.

Exactly right. I haven't mentioned the chunk that comes out for medical premiums-and car insurance was not a requirement back then either.
