Lion Country Safari Spotlight
That was awesome, we had some fun times back then. The only concert I attended at Timberwolf was .38 special. I had the chance to take a drive back in the safari area 2 years ago, and if you imagine hard enough, you can still see the animals and the way it was. I miss that attraction.

Tokyo Disneyland
The have preparedness down to a science over there it seems. It's pretty frightening to see the floor roll like it did during that quake, and I can only imagine how it felt compared to the 7.2 of the San Fran quake. The videos of Santa Cruz were pretty frightening as well. Haven't seen anything about the boardwalk yet.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/view/1115810/1/.html This tragedy continues to get worse by the hour. I remember this happening with the Loma Prieta quake in 1987. (San Fran)

How will $4--$5--$6.50? gasoline affect theme parks?
I hear there are areas of Alaska where gas is already $10 per gallon. When I was there in 2007, the Kenai area had gas for $5.50. Ouch.

Not a place for politics, but from Administration to Administration, that has largely not been done. Our own oil resources are rather limited (except for those offshore...and just as those were being developed in the Gulf, and not without controversy, the BP oilwell situation occurred.) A question...is it not wiser to use up others' resources first? On the other hand, how much money have we shipped out of here to literally burn up what is eventually either money no longer available for anything else and/or debt? It's not an easy situation... I wonder how much is truly left. How much oil is truly left in the middle east. I hate the whole thing. Just wish we could get away from it altogether.

The middle east situation will never change. I think its time to switch to a more efficient car for me personally. This whole situation angers me to no end.

Old Paramount (Viacom) vs. Cedar Fair Managments at KI
I didn't get to experience Paramount for long-only returned the summer of 2006 to the park. Just a few observations... Paramount always took the time to answer emails-pro or con, and they were personable with it. I have emails I sent to Cedar Fair two years ago and have yet to hear a response. I don't bother anymore. Paramount was "fun". Cedar Fair, well, I dunno. I have openly observed employees not handling situations well. Granted, one summer compared to 4 is not enough to come to a conclusion, but if I can see these things, I'm sure the GP can. Paramount seemed to have better communication. You can walk up to 5 different employees on any given day, ask a question, and get 5 different answers. This comes from the top-the employees are not to blame. Let's not forget the admission issues some on here have experienced. I blame both managements for taking out the themed areas and turning it into a haphazard bunch of rides. I miss the theming, which is what made KI special. Its a confusing place to me now.

Lord knows this subject isn't funny, but I couldn't resist this one-a friend sent this to me and it helps with the current mood.

Wisc. Dells: 12 Y.O. Girl Seriously Injured
I'll say it again-no way in hell would I be a ride op. Living with an accident like this would be hard enough, without being branded in this manner for life.

Yeah, remember the pintos?

Oh yeah. I narrowly missed that when I moved away from there. It always blew my mind that Cali still required electric vehicles to go through emissions. No test, just the tax. So what is the block to natural gas vehicles? Would we be in the same boat we are now?
-
How will $4--$5--$6.50? gasoline affect theme parks?
Electric vehicles only make sense in California, where you can plug into a lot of public places-but don't go in the desert. I wondered about the cost comparison on natural gas since I know of one city that runs their gov vehicles on it. Also, what about emissions?

Believe me, that is a large deterrent for me getting one. I wanted to trade my silverado in when the insight came out. Being new technology, I didn't want to be the guinea pig on that one. I tell ya though, I was in a position to buy one then and in hindsight, wish I had. As much as I've spent on the scooby this year, it almost equals out. When it dies, I'm going back to Honda. The body may fall apart, but the engines run forever-with very little maintenance. My little Honda is now in Florida, and even though it was in an accident in December, it still runs. Unbelievable. Back on topic, I would love to switch to a bike or motorcycle. I don't believe in this day and age that is a safe option for me.

This is true. I understand the situation right now, but it is almost as if it was orchestrated. Remember when they predicted this a few weeks ago? Makes ya wonder.... I still don't understand even in times of peace how they can get away with the gouging. How much worse is the situation over there going to get to rise to $5 per gallon? That thought scares me a little.

Can someone explain to me how in the **** gas can suddenly jump up 30 cents in one day? If any other industry did that, we'd be facing a judge. I know that wouldn't fly in my field. What honks me off is we've had the technology for several decades for alternative energy, and haven't developed it. And the reason-well, to express my thought on that would break the TOS.

When gas hits $5, we're going to have bigger problems than trips to an amusement park. Honestly, all I do is drive to work and home, and provide my daughter with transportation to her job. I am guessing my gas bill runs almost $200 per month. Granted I drive one of those awful suv's, but I had no choice-my little Honda was literally coming apart on the road-which it did in Cleveland a few years ago. (Saved by a bungee cord). Granted, I would love to have an electric or hybrid car, but even with as much as I spend in gas, the cost of increased insurance, and purchasing the car is far more expensive than driving the car I have now. Keeping it going has taken all of my discretionary income and then some. I missed an important family event last night due to the cost of gas. That's something no amount of money can replace. I am mad as hell. I am tired of making these sacrifices and still getting taken to the cleaners by the oil companies. Greed, pure and simple.

Child Dies On Unattended Ride In Colombia
Very possible. No way would I be a ride op. Mark, what did you do when the guy returned? I think I would have had a long talk with management on that one.

Me too. There are lots of photos that are gone due to my parents divorce, as well as my class picture which was ripped in half. I miss KCKC with a passion. These pics are wonderful.

Time for Timberwolf to exit stage left?
Well, I wouldn't know-everyone blocks my view at any concert because of my height. The seats do need replacing in the worst way-they are starting to break. I prefer to sit in the lawn area when such an area is available. The lack of restrooms is another issue, but that would be cost prohibitive to correct at this point. My favorite outdoor venue was Shoreline in California-plenty of sloping and restrooms that could acomodate a sold out show. Only problem there was the gases from the landfill it was built on which would spark flames occasionally from people lighting cigarettes. Lol. I think that problem has been resolved for many years though.

Time for Timberwolf to exit stage left?
It definitely needs new seating-the benches are shot. They need to be wider as well due to people being larger. And let's not go into that discussion again-we all know people aren't going to get smaller.

Family Suing Disney Over Cheese At Theme Park
Yes, mom or dad should have checked it before he ate it. It's about as frivolous as the mcdonald's hot coffee suit years ago. I'd like to share a little something a friend sent to me not too long ago-and this sums up where we were, and where we are now. This brought back many great memories I had forgotten about growing up. I don't know if this was actually said by Jay Leno, but life was much better before lawsuits and the government kept us safe. The quotes in parentheses are my thoughts, not part of the note. WE ARE AWESOME !!! OUR Lives are LIVING PROOF !!! To Those of Us Born1925 - 1970 :At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno. If you don't read anything else, please read what he said. Very well stated, Mr. Leno.~~~~~~~~~TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s!! First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then, after that trauma, we wereput to sleep on our tummiesin baby cribs covered with bright coloured lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, and, when we rode our bikes,we had baseball caps, not helmets, on our heads. As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.. Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. (I can attest to this) We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. (Done this many times) We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight. (And lard favored vegetables) WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.No one was able to reach us all day. --And, we were OKAY. We would spend hours buildingour go-carts out of scrapsand then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.. We did not have Play Stations, Nintendos and X-boxes. There wereno video games, no 150 channels on cable,no video movies or DVDs,no surround-sound or CDs,no cell phones,no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from those accidents. We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse. (And our friend's parents had permission to do the same, so we didn't DARE act up) We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and -although we were told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them. Little League had tryoutsand not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever. The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
