  1. A suggestion I made at my employer is now a serious discussion. Things are getting bad for all of us-the only one balking at the idea lives a mile from work, so its no problem for her. It all depends on the state of Ohio and whether overtime kicks in after 8 hours-if it does, won't be an option.
  2. Congrats Jesse-see ya on the midway
  3. Last weekend got chicken tenders & fries, 2 slices of pizza and a sprite for 19 and change. That is the last time I will eat in the park, ever. I was 5 cents short and the kid at the register spotted me for it-kudos to that kid!! I heard an ugly rumor today that gas will be 4.50 very soon-it is already approaching 4.25 today in several locations. I have suggested 4 day work weeks at my job, and luckily the boss is receptive to it. Time will tell if corporate will allow it.
  4. Festhaus has outgrown the restrooms currently in there. Then again, there was waiting all over the park.
  5. Was a madhouse today, and got a good sunburn but you know what? I don't give a rats ***. It was a good day, WindSeeker is beautiful at night and spent the day with some great friends. What more could you want? Only complaint I have is the amount of pollen in the air on the next to last train on Beast-but thats not the park's fault. One asthma attack and one swollen eye-ah well. Will be taking it easy tomorrow.
  6. I'll take the dryness, as I sit here with a leaky door frame
  7. $12 to park, hmmm, hope some of that will go to repaving the lot. One day ticket-outrageous. I can see what kind of problems are going to come from the public on this one. Can someone explain to me the reasoning for this?
  8. I agree. It WAS a better time
  9. Check out the WindSeeker cam-looks like a bit of a mess this morning. When the sirens went off at 1:30 this morning, it was very still outside. I am fairly close to the park.
  10. Hmmm, thought it was just me-my compy hiccups a lot-this fiber optic internet is not as great as it appears. Things are ok now.
  11. Enough is enough. It's especially irritating when I am asked to do the work this other employee doesn't-in addition my direct supervisor comes in late, takes two hour lunches, and is first out the door. Ten years is long enough.
  12. Which brings up an interesting point-how some folks get away with what they do. I work with someone completely unprofessional, rude, and with the worst attendance record I've seen-and nothing changes. Sometimes that's a sign you're with the wrong company.
  13. Ok, got to admit this intrigued me. Wondering what and how they are assessing this. As others have said on the interview - be yourself, the interviewer knows what he/she is looking for and will determine if you fit. And remember, it's not a bad thing if you don't. My interview was with a group of three, we all had to collectively draw one picture. I don't think I'm allowed to say what it was though. That's interesting. I'm not a fan of group interviews-have only done one. My interview at KI took an hour-I actually didn't talk much. We hit it off immediately, and I think most times its a matter of personalities being compatible. I enjoyed 4 years there, and didn't go back this year due to my full time job requiring more time and availability. Good luck with it-the memories and friendships you make there will last a lifetime
  14. It is for me. This summer is not looking too good for me, recreation wise. I am currently deciding whether to stay in the area or not.
  15. People are angry. It's going to get really bad if gas hits $5. I am currently looking for a job closer to home, because even though my job is not that far away, its taking a bite out of my wallet. I already have times where its food or gas-guess what? My waistline will tell you what that decision is. I presently work to pay bills with nothing left over and for the past year or so I have questioned why I bother. From a business standpoint, you work to make a profit right? When there's no profit, you fold. There it is.
  16. The produce I've seen lately isn't worth buying. The time has come that I will need to figure something out.
  17. This is disgusting, 3.80 per gallon. Went up 40 cents in one day. Usually the optimist, I am starting to get depressed.
  18. I agree. That was a crime. I forgot about the "chant", but I remember it. When I look at KC, all I remember is standing in line and hearing Cindy Lauper's "all through the night".
  19. http://www.wvmetrone...y&storyid=44260 What a misjustice. Five years can never be replaced and even if proven innocent, the stigma remains. A lot of people take jury duty for granted; I think its a very serious matter to have someone's future in your hands. Corruption and thievery are two things I cannot tolerate, period.
  20. Housing is high down here, no doubt. Where I live is safe and good, but they only do 6 or 12 month leases. If you can find something, I would recommend Mason. Very quiet, and no bull-they don't tolerate crime here, and I kinda like that.
  21. But....but....what if the Cyclops (window brake light) is burned out, shorted out or just plain old no longer works? Terp, seemingly ever shooting holes in logic where he works, to the delight of some and chagrin of others... Exactly. Brake lights look on to me.
  22. Scrap it, plain and simple. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, and its time to let it go. Seriously, how much was the true cost of the ride-downtime, lawsuits, fixes. It's a beautiful structure, and a bad coaster. Demolition would start tomorrow if I owned the park. Besides that, they'll come out of the woodwork at this point due to its reputation. Like Goodyellowcorn said, how many folks out there were injured, and just didn't pursue legal action? I bet more than we think.
  23. Looks to me like someone got caught checking out the construction without permission. Can't see it well enough to see what they're holding, but the officer is still in the car-the brake lights are on. The lighted image-no idea. Have heard of some strange events going on over the winter.
  24. Probably more than 5 bucks. Feeding them, insurance, all that.
  25. Conflict of interest there? No. Get used to real life. It IS not only what you know but who you know, so get to know the right people. That is called networking. An employers job (see what I did there?) is to hire the best people it possibly can to deliver the products and services of the organization. If employees' friends and family are the best source of employees, many employers go for it. Nepotism is NOT illegal, but some companies/organizations have policies forbidding it, for reasons of their own. Public sector employment has more restrictions, as taxpayers' monies (and borrowed monies) are being used, and fairness, and the perception of fairness (that latter can be different from the former) are deemed more important than even hiring the best person sometimes is. Not to mention societal goals that Government is seen as best being able to implement and to serve as an example for others. Yes, EEO, for instance, comes to mind. EEO does apply to both the public and private sectors, but in slightly different ways. To sum up, networking is one of the very best ways of getting a job. So do it! This is very true. I have my current job because of a coworker I have known since 1998. In the field I'm in, we all bump into each other at some time or another, and I was able to transfer down to Cincy for the same reason. I now have connections in Florida, although I think it's too hot there.
