  1. Off topic completely but i looked at the pics of recent post and I thought YoungStud had made a return ^^^.
  2. went to look back at this topic for updates and using a quick search, The Smiler has reopened to the public as of March 19.
  3. Perhaps I should rephrase Terp. Lola was not boring and was in fact in my opinion the more favorable of the two sides. When I was younger it seemed like it pulled off a lot more than the video portrays. It may just be the video but it seemed much less aggressive than I remember it and that's where the boring connotation came into mind but that's probably just because it's a video.
  4. Wow I didn't remember Lola being that... Boring. Glad to see what they've done with it. I guess the thrill was the whole "race". Something I do remember though is those horrible brakes that were similar to being in a minor car accident.
  5. I will say that something Kentucky Kingdom does and does it well is landscaping. Those people work very hard year round to keep that place looking nice. They added some much needed life back at Mile High Falls and I have full confidence they will work their magic on Storm Chaser too, just give them time
  6. They DID do a theme repair on Flight of Fear towards the middle of last season. All lights in the bowl were replaced with LED as was the entire spaceship on the inside, for the first time in a few years, I saw that space map thing lit up.
  7. I doubt it is that slow when it's open to the public, keep in mind this was an empty train, and if it was supposedly the first test run as the video says, the track was cold. Lightning Run's PLC came with a menu to monitor time that cycles took and after a few runs and getting loaded up, that number dropped by several seconds. I don't think it will fly around that corner but it won't be quite a crawl either.
  8. That last photo that Vortex lover has from RMC, looks an awful lot like Deliriums 2003 Logo.
  9. Page not found.
  10. I'm by no means saying its a great part of town, but I definitely would walk from the fairgrounds to Papa Johns. I think people here are exaggerating on how bad that part of town is. The bad part is just northwest of UofLs campus.
  11. Kentucky Kingdom just posted a picture on their Facebook of the second train. It is the same purple color I had imagined for the rails lol.
  12. This ride would have looked amazing with either sky blue or light purple rails.
  13. I can see it now. "Crypt 2.0" the former home of the worlds only Giant Top Spin has been reoccupied with a larger, meaner relative. Taking riders through 10 mind bending inversions, this new and revolutionized version of the Huss Giant Top Spin offers greater capacity and greater reliability. Do you dare re-enter the lost tomb?
  14. Do RMC coasters come with seat belts? I know that the New Texas Giant has them now but what about others? If all the kingdom staff had to do on storm chaser was push down pull up on a lap bar I would think they could move lines fairly well.
  15. It also says KI' version has 4 trains. If we cut PPH in half which is likely closer since it only ever runs 2 trains it is about on par with an RMC. And that is if it has all 5 cars accepting riders.
  16. What's the capacity on Flight of Fear? That ride is now 20 years old and still draws some of the largest lines in the park.
  17. Lightning Run did open on time, but if you knew what it took to make that happen it shouldn't have. We received the first train at the last possible minute and had to do testing through the night to ensure it met its minimum amount of cycles. And although it opened on time it was down more than it was up with computer glitches. Thunder Run had and continues to have problems with its braking system, you think it's supposed to fly halfway into the station like it does before it slows to a stop? I was mainly referring to T3, Enterprise, And Raging Rapids. All of those are main attractions that were promised to open by a certain date and did not.
  18. You know, I'm impressed. I think this may be their first New or newly renovated in the case of T3 coaster that will open up on time with the park.
  19. While Lightning Run sometimes gets slow crews in, I was certified to operate it on its maiden year and that darn thing has a huge delay in its own system after you hit the dispatch buttons. The restraint solenoid was active any time it was in contact with the train, instead of moving to the side like most do, it had to detach and drop down which caused about a 5-7 second delay after you would hit dispatch. That is what the long kind of air pressure noise was after clear was given.
  20. Kings Island is definitely pretty good. Bar the recent Diamondstack crew. But even they have their days where they are moving like a well oiled machine.
  21. Knowing Mr. Mulcahy personally, it's kind of weird to see him move on. Best of luck to him!
  22. The original was much better.
  23. Speaking of red, under what ownership was the Hellevator installed?
  24. I wonder if the Kingdom knows that a roller coaster station doesn't have to be 100% the same color. When driving by today I glanced at Storm Chaser while driving and much to my horror I saw a station that no longer resembled that of a Steel Racer but more or less T3. The station, beams, roof, and everything except that bottom part from the previous picture is that terrible red.
  25. I wonder if Storm Chaser will bring the same success to the park that Chang did in 1999. It will definitely be interesting to see!
