  1. Neither would Diamondback Lets just say "if" they bought and built Firehawk, they built other rides like it (BORG: Assimulator A.K.A. nighthawk). -KIBOB, just speaking through a "what if" viewpoint.
  2. I just bumped this topic because it was starting to make me think, particularly by this great example by CedarPointer. My favorite "failed-A.K.A. not failed but removed" had to of been the classic Flying Eagles. They used to be one of my favorite rides when i was little. I forget where, but i know that i have stated this before, that Paramount should have placed IJST in Action Zone. As this clearly shows, it would have fit. I think that this is one of the most empty-headed moves made by Paramount. Even though we all criticize CF's "theming"at least they put coasters in the appropriate spots. If Paramount/CBS still owned KI, Firehawk may be in Rivertown right now.

Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters, When I Come Around by Green Day, and Sounds of Madness by Shinedown, all remind me of KI. I have no idea why either.
  4. Red and black would really look out of place in the middle of the area, in my opinion. They are using all the Red and Black paint for the much needed work on Top Gun Only in our dreams....Flight Deck would show it's true colors, because, in my opinion bare steel/faded gray/ and overgrowth are not exactly the looks of a great coaster, but i have a feeling that it will remain that way for a while.
  5. Its looking good, just look at the shiny new coat of yellow on the once faded tracks. I am just glad that it hasn't been repainted red, obviously Cedar Fair's favorite color.
  6. You'd think that the rain would make the lumber swell and make it difficult to install. Anyways, is good to see some rehab done at the park though, besides the construction reving up in what is becoming PS. I wonder if that is the hill that i always seem to get stapled on? Oh well, thanks for posting the pic!
  7. With all the nickels he kept from Viacom ofcourse
  8. It looks as though with the final days of the go-shop period coming to a close, things are becoming even more intense for the resistance to the proposed sale. Mr. Kinzel is likely having another coaster built, in his head, and judging by what has been going on, that coaster may be pulling some serious G's and migrains. -Thanks terpy for keeping us informed with the latest info throughout this ride.
  9. Out with the old and in with the new!! .....kidding Anyways, it wasn't Paramount that sold the Paramount Parks, it was CBS who had aquired the parks from Viacom after a huge corporate split. However, CBS felt that the parks did not fit well within their buisness and sold them. (with/without negotiating with Viacom??). Also, the new park will be built and owned by another company, while using some MAJOR licensing from viacom. Although, from what i see on other sites, viacom will try and introduce "enhanced" versions of its top rides at its own former park chain. Again though, this is a different kind of ownership i believe.
  10. I am pretty sure that the 09 map was not posted on the website untill a few days before the park opened, though i could be wrong.
  11. Wow, and i thought Cedar Fair spent an extreme amount of money at $1.25 billion in one setting on the 5 rather large Paramount Parks.
  12. Listen to your car coast to remind you of the sound of Diamondback, or, watch Mega Structures (which is on right now on travel channel) just to see SoB in its short lived glory days.
  13. I was just wondering the very same thing...........I wonder if CF had to re-pay a licensing fee when the rides switched from IJST to BLSC
  14. Boo Boo's Baggage Claim? -KIBOB...running for the door
  15. Last year and the year before i just took a few minutes to wonder around the park to see what has changed, so i suppose i will do that again this year. Then check out the "handywork" done over in PS.........................Then sprint to................... the snake of steel or maybe even the creature of wood (the oldest creature of wood, ofcourse )
  16. http://www.kingsdominion.com/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=14 Scroll towards the bottom .
  17. Phew! Although Scooby is gone, it looks as though SDaTHC is here to stay! For those of us who beleived the ride would simply have the Scooby theming removed, and the ride become a standard Sally Dard ride, well, that is apparently correct......http://www.kingsdominion.com/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=14.......scroll towards the bottom of the page
  18. ........and patch Units of the artificial cliffs with a Fair amount of spackle.
  19. Maybe they are removing the giant reptar/movie screen statue, or the pin-sized plankton from the top of planktons plunge. Finally, some visible signs of activity! Now.......we wait.
  20. Wow, i did not know The Beast was that close, although they could build a midway in the availible space. Kidding aside, I do like AT i just can"t get myself to see CF putting a great 3-D movie in there. NOW that is funny.... OR start with The Beast and go right into and end with the Son of Beast. Dont you think the motion seats would completely wear out after the first few days?
  21. The Beast runs right behind AT?
  22. Somehow, I have a feeling that the replacement movie will either be something based on an extreme roller coaster simulator, or no movie at all. I would like to see a new movie in AT, even though that fading building is blocking part of the future ride frontier.
  23. From what Comcast has said in the past related to the parks, it doesn't sound like they have much of an interest in owning them for the long haul. Heck, even when they were trying to acquire Disney a few years back, they were talking about selling off the Disney parks to a third party, or spinning them off in their own IPO. If they didn't have interest in owning the Disney parks (whose revenues are huge in comparison to anyone else), I can't imagine them having continued interest in the Universal parks... Even at $12-13 a unit, CF would be a really good deal for someone. My money would also be on Blackstone as a potential suitor. At any rate, with the stock trading in the high $11's right now, I can't imagine the Apollo deal going thru as currently offered. My guess is that Apollo will either sweeten the deal (maybe into the $12-12.50 range), or an offer from another party will be coming. Just think if Blackstone did end up buying CF and the remaining interest in Universal...combine that with BEC and Merlin and they would have a HUGE park empire. Imagine what that "platinum pass" would get you!!! Yes, but imagine what that "platinum pass" would cost lol. -Your total for your purchase today: 1 arm and 1 leg.-
  24. Isn't/wasn't the band organ on display in the gate building display box?
  25. That is truly remarkable, i have wondered many times what that looked like, Thanks TOPGUN1993!
