  1. ^Sheeesh, and people complain about SoB. That looks almost illegal. Did an engineer actually design that ride, or was a pencil and paper handed to a monkey.
  2. I think everyone should take a look at this: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/2010/4/30/The_Price_Of_Fur....cfm Anyone else astonished by this, especially all the hints of an immersive ride with the T word. Maybe CF is taking starting to take storylines more seriously.
  3. Well, theres the answer to this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21331 Im happy.
  4. And notably, the large plume of fire that shoots up as you launch is also not working. The two others off to the side do ignite still, so we still have that better than Kings Dominion's and Canada's Wonderland's. But just as I've said with the Crypt, the saddest part is this: When a light goes out, when an effect stops working, when a speaker shorts out - they will not be replaced. They just won't. One effect at a time (as we've seen with the fire this year) the ride will stop working. It's just one of those things that Cedar Fair doesn't focus on, for better or worse. Sure, once in a while they decide to appease us and we get a re-invigorated effect on Adventure Express. And it's great to have it back. But the point is, every time a light shorts out on The Crypt, it's simply one less light that the ride will operate with. I'm not saying Paramount didn't operate the exact same way. Just that it's something we as a park have had to deal with for a long time, and it's sad. I completely agree with both of you. I have given some insight, some enthusiasm, and some hope towards Cedar Fair during the past few years in terms of the theming on the older rides and it is depressing to see nothing chaning. Sure, Planet Snoopy and BBoBH look great, and Diamondback's snake theming is nice, but like I mentioned before-You HAVE to take care of what you have before you do something new. You know, often times I wonder what Mr. Gary Wachs thinks of when and if he visits the park and sees what has happened to the awesome amount of theming that he had originally intended and painstakingly designed for KI? The lack of things "international" on I-street, the poor condition and lack of theme in Oktoberfest, and rides like Crypt and BLSC. The only recent time that I know of that Gary visited the park was for the walk of fame induction. (which is a run down smoking area-not much fame to that )
  5. This may be a bit far fetched, but since Toyota (? i'm pretty sure ?) is the official car dealer/manufacturer of Kings Island, would you think it could be possible for the park to get an excellent deal from Toyota on licensing for their car brands? It would be neat if the cars were turned into miniature Toyota Corollas! KIBOB, just brainstorming......
  6. SoB's trains are sitting, with the cars seperated individually, on skids in the area between the drop out of the station and the area where the loop used to be. The cars aren't even being covered or anything.
  7. Could it possibly be some track from a coaster that was at SFKK?
  8. Did anyone notice the BIG empty space in the middle of the coney mall midway by the dodgems? It is just a big grassy area. I don't recall that last year. Also, although BLSC's trains have had their headlights removed they have new tail light decals and still have their phrased license plates.
  9. KIBOB replied to chaddie's topic in Kings Island
I know that this is probably not the best topic to put this, but for all of you who were at the park today, did anyone notice the very large empty space in the middle of the Coney Mall midway? There are no trees, no planters, no mulch, just.....grass. Also, the BLSC trains do look like KD, sort of, I don't think they look half bad. Although the front of the cars have no headlights , each of the cars have a new set of tail lights and they still have their same cool license plates on the back. The lights were on in the BLSC tunnel.
  10. I just decided to start this topic to see who on the forums have/is thinking about participating in community and charitable activities at Kings Island, such as Run Kings Island, or the JDRF walk to cure diabetes. I will be participating in the diabetes walk on Saturday, April 24th, partly because the walk takes place on the access roads behind and around the park and rides, but mostly because i am a type I diabetic. This will be the first time I have ever done this, so I don't really know what to expect.
  11. What exactly do you mean by that? I think he means that if you go to www.visitkingsisland.com, the headline bar (the blue bar at the very top of your IE window) reads "Kings Island Theme Park - The FUN and Only - Mason, OH." That's exactly what I mean WSYXnewsguy. Kings Island is being called a theme park again, only on the website though. I hope that they stop referring to the park just as an amusement park, as it always has and was always meant to be a theme park.
  12. -Bump- Has anyone noticed the new browser banner for Kings Island? The park is actually being called a theme park, a very pleasant surprise if i do say so myself.
  13. Is the dancing guy going to be CF's new version of Mr. Six. As awkward as it seems, i find the ad kind of catchy, and at least it is not just a cheap compilation of footage from OTHER parks and old footage such as http://www.youtube.c.../17/6_RCcONcQYI from the past few years. EDIT: except the snoopy shot, but that was kind of a no choice
  14. Where is Universal when you need them?
  15. There is a simple answer to that: $$$$$$$$ However, i do feel that this move is pushing many to the breaking point, including me. If only CF could better manage money. Its like a kid with a pocket full of change in a candy store, not realizing that they are going to rot out their teeth. However in this case: The kid=CF Pocket full of change=A monumentally unstable sum of money Candy store=Intamin, B&M, Vekoma, GCI, etc.... Mouth full of teeth about to be neglected= Most if not all of the other rides with maintnence needing themes/and or no themes that already exist in the parks Don't get me wrong, i love to see new bigger, badder, and better coasters and rides, but, you have to take care of what you have before splurging on a ton of other stuff. Nuff said.......

Tomb Raider: The Ride - The Crypt Italian Job Stunt Track - Backlot Stunt Coaster Top Gun - Flight Deck Drop Zone - Drop Tower Paramount Story - I dont wanna talk about it Great theme fitting music especially on IS - The same endless music playing throughout the park. Then again.......... 2 or less live shows - A multitude of live shows Empty Field - Firehawk Swan Lake - Diamondback and a near complete renovation of Rivertown. More cleanliness IMO, better safety measures Nuff said....
  17. I hope that our BLSC trains have some more detail than KD's plastic looking cars (hopefully, at least, ours have headlights and doors) but i doubt it. This is truly some undesired news. Sure, it may be better to spend money on rides rather than licensing, but you dont need licensing to make a rides trains actually look like real cars. Hmmm, a park not planning on saying anything about a change to a major attraction untill opening day, when people find out the cold hard truth for themselves.......Where have i seen this before?
  18. SIGH. Terpy, who would say more but has been negative enough today... I agree Terp. Oh joy, I can't wait to walk past the Eiffel Tower, having to smell the stench of cigarette smoke! (no offense to anyone) Still though, first we find out about the BLSC trains possibly having the same plastic, undetailed look that KD's have gotten, now we learn that one of the areas of the park that could be a nice little area with some work done to it, will simply just be turned into a giant smoking booth. Today is not the greatest of days when it comes to news
  19. This proves the PR department doesn't have a say in the names. I was just thinking the same thing
  20. I don't think things have changed, but I was able to upgrade my season pass that i bought last year to a gold pass by paying the slight price difference. You just walk up to the window and ask if you can upgrade. They will scan your current purchased pass card/e-ticket, then they will charge you the difference and hand you what would look like a ticket stub. You just take that into processing with you.
  21. -NEW FOR 2011- Pavement! Experience the best as you blissfully drive across our newly repaved parking lot. See what it's like to really ride on air and have the ability to see where you are going! I would really like to see the parking lot repaved. The condition of the cracked/hole-patched/faded pavement just doesnt do very well for first impressions in my opinion (for people who have never been to the park). I also find it kind of hard to manuever when a LOT of the lines are almost completely faded. -Maybe the number 40810 will let us recieve funding some fine new jet black pavement
  22. Okay, i know this is VERY random and all, but check out KI's website. The home page seems a bit messed up, the page is off center. I sense the new site should be up in a matter of days! First we get pics of the new darkride, and now clues of the site being worked on? It is turning out to be a great day!
  23. I also enjoy the sound of Invertigo while walking up to the gates, it probably has some of the most mechanical noises out of any other ride in the park. Also, although some seem to hate it, I also like the sound that the Crypt makes.
  24. I will admit, I have never rode SoB. Mainly because I broke my fear of coasters at the end of the 08 season, and after hearing all the negative feedback on the ride, I have been kind of weary. I would NOT like to see SoB torn down for the fact that the ride is just an incredible sight, a manmade latticed mountain of wood. It is truly a work of engineering art. The ride also adds a lot to the skyline. If only they could get the rides to be as wonderfull as the structure, that would be great. Also, going back to my last post, i know that news stations may not have access to the views of the rosebowl, but just showing the lift IMO is giving a false impression. Another thing is that many news stations still use footage of the ride having/manuevering the loop.
  25. Have you ever noticed that on all the news reports on SoB, they usually only show the lift hill? The one part of the ride that seems okay "to my knowledge". They never show the real problem area, which is the rosebowl. When the incident happened in 06, I actually thought that it happened on the lift.
