  1. ^^^That is true, when it comes to the haunt, CF really knows how to do theming, even better than paramount with halloween actually. So why cant they be like that all season long with the rides? Specifically AE, Crypt's ride chamber, and BLSC.
  2. I really enjoy riding the train when i want to just relax for a bit. I just like to cruise through the woods, checking out DB, WWC, and the scenery while listening to the soundtrack, which i think the park did a good job with. I dont know if anyone else has, but i have noticed that this year the park seems to be putting some more enphasis into the old western buildings in the woods. The train even slows down now coming around the scenery. I think that the last time i rode, the guide even pointed them out.

So last night i was riding AE and to my dissapointment none of the effects that make the ride exciting at night were running! The colored flood lights were not on but instead, the plain old service lights were. The "volcano" tunnel looked more like a subway station entrance with those lights! In the last tunnel, with the drummers, the drummers were drumming, but the guy at the end wasnt doing anything. So, i was thinking, after being to KI many times this year and after reading many posts about ride effects not running on certain days, does anyone know if the effects of rides are computerized or if the ride ops in the control rooms turn them on? If it were the ride ops who were responsible for the effects running, then wouldnt non-functioning scenery be the fault of lazy ops or ops that dont know what they are doing rather than the park's fault?
  4. The old PKI logo is still present on the pet care center building AND SDATHC seems to be staying well maintaned this year compared to rides in nick u hmmmm...
  5. I know that i am one of the VERY FEW, but i am actually thinking positive about the crypt. I rode it for the first time ever tonight. I had never ridden it as tomb raider and regret it, but anyways, i do like the que and the scene with the deathbat eating people and there remains lying around. I also like the way that the lights go out and the multi colored ones take over. While riding, i was looking my hardest and it seemed to look like there was some work being done on the wall where i am guessing the goddess was. Overall, i beleive it to be a relatively tame ride, and i think that it is a good non-extreme thrill for rivertown. Also, you never know, Huss might be able to upgrade the ride (like Drop Tower was in 07)to allow it to do more manuevers without so much strain. I mean Huss made the ride 7 yrs ago sooo im sure things have advanced and...anything is possible.
  6. I dont know but IMO, if Cedar Fair switches from snoopy to cartoon network due to the event at Knott's, then that would be a wise choice. Sure, Nick is great for kids but if you think about it nick has been moving more towards live action and turning into the new Disney. Also, many of the shows that theme nick u no longer run on tv or are reruns whereas cartoon network is staying more with animation, becoming more popular with kids, and once spongebob stops running, will be the more popular network.
  7. Wait, hasnt The Beast received a landmark status by ACE. There is a plaque right by the que entrance just like the one by racer. Once a coaster has acheived that status, isnt it basically against morals for the park to demolish it?
  8. I miss the atmosphere, like someone else had said, the park just had this magical type of feel to it, and it seemed so welcoming when you walked through the gates to international street. Now it is just like okay whatever.

It appears now as though they have changed the description of the ride as well, although if you click on the information link, the old summary pops back up. The new summary still seems a little bit "overstated" IMO.
  10. Wasnt the heli pad sitting where Firehawk's station is today? I remember that it was back there somewhere.

The length of the que does not make sense to me either, considering that FD was built wayyy before SoB so why did they make the que that long if there was nothing to go around? It puzzles me.

Oh, really? Ha I know i think that i got a little too excited for a minute there. I know that it still states a summary of the old tomb raider but it seemed like it was edited a little. Maybe i gave gave the crypt a little too much optimism after i seen that they changed the picuture which has been there since Paramount. Im sure that everyone is looking for a sign that this waste zone in the middle of a western oasis is going to change.

This is fairly random but here goes, it seems as though KIs website has finally updated the crypt section of the rides page. They changed the picture, and i think that they changed the description a little. It looks like they are starting to encourage advertising it better.
  14. I really like the name. "Diamondback" it just fits in so well with Rivertown, especially with the landscaping, waterfall, and rocks around the splashdown. I also like how the park has installed those new wooden fences and restored the old rivertown buildings that were falling apart last year. This just goes to show that our assumptions may be wrong and that Cedar Fair might actually care about AERIAL THEMING. Rivertown just looks great in general, and it now finally actually looks like an area themed to a western mining town. It makes me wonder if CF is going to do some more overhauls in other sections of the park for future rides.

I like this guy! Well except, Kings Island should stay an ammusment park, not a theme park. Actually, i have always considered Kings Island as a themed amusement park. Which i think is more appropriate than calling it a theme park (which it isnt completely) or a plain amusement park (which it is, but with themed sections) -Bobby, who is very glad to be on summer vacation, and cant wait for full park visits
  16. 1st person: "we will be getting some big coaters now that Cedar Fair owns Kings Island because they also own Cedar Point" 2nd person: "What do you mean? Cedar Point doesnt have any big rides"
  17. If i had $100,000,000 I would: -Repaint flight deck and either get rid of the old unused que area or restore it. -CHANGE THE CRYPT! Keep the theme, but take out the giant top spin and put in a more normal sized one or put in a new smaller gondula to where it does not tear itself apart. Then make it to where there are strobe lights and ghost sounds throughout the ride sequence, and having one wall made into a giant "screen" to where demons, ghosts, and more could be projected upon. Along with replacing the old rolling door that used to be there with a door that LOOKS LIKE A DOOR TO AN ACTUALL CRYPT OR CATHEDRAL. Either this or make it into a competely different theme. -Either retheme nick U to peanuts or do some much needed maintnence. -Improve SOB -Expand X-Base, add a restaurant, bathroom, and more rides -RESTORE OKTOBERFEST -add new slides to Boomerang Bay
  18. Just wondering, because i had seen it posted somewhere last night, but for those of you who experienced the weather last night at KI, did you see or hear of any coasters or tall rides (Diamondback, SOB, Drotp Tower, Eiffel Tower) being struck by lightning? I know that storms are a normal event for amusement/theme parks, but last night was BAD. It looked like a strobe light outside with all of the lightning.
  19. wow i know how it is evacuating the park in a thunderstorm! i remember back on the 4th of july of 2003, my family spent a day at the park. Later that night, about 30 minutes before the fireworks the skies started looking awful and the wind started to pick up, a few minutes later, it was announced that a severe storm warning had been issued. Suddenly,it began with lightning, rain, hail, wind, and all. It was complete madness as everyone was running and screeming for the gates. It became so bad that they opened up the bypass around the gates. Although i was only 11 at the time, i still remember how painfull it was running through the parking lot with hail hitting my face. Then we were stuck in the parking lot traffic for 2 1/2 hours! I wonder if anyone else was there that night.
  20. To tell you the truth, i can imagine walking into the park either next year or 2011 and seeing Nick U turned into Planet Snoopy. Just think of what they can do with just a little repainting, new fiberglass characters, and names. I can see the avatar getting repainted, Aang removed from the train, and either Snoopy or woodstock being put in its place. Names would probably go from "Avatar" to "snoopy's skateboard" and from "Rugrats runaway reptar" to "The Flying Ace". This brings me to another point, besides Spongebob, all of the cartoons in the area are either now repeats on TV, or not played at all. As much as i can recall, Rugrats hasnt been played in a few years and I havnt seen the Wild Thornberrys since i was 9 years old "and im 16". I also think that CF got the idea for Planet Snoopy from Nick U, even the logos look similar. So, yea it would be great for CF to renew but seeing as all the signs of removal are iminent in Nick U "Fading Paint, the avatar falling off of the ride carrage, clearence sales" i think that Viacom is just jacking up the price waayyyy too much.

If Im not mistaken taking out the loop let them switch from the premier trains to the lighter G-Trains we have now. Of course I could be wrong.... None of you are mistaken. They did take out the loop to use lighter trains, but in doing that they modified the track so that it would fit better with the new trains, since the new trains do not have the special wheels to take them through loops. I hope i cleared that up

Thats innaproperite to post here. It has bad language. Remeber, this is a family frendily site. On a side note, does anyone know how many times SoB was retracked? I am not sure, I just know that they retracked the ride after the 06 incident. This was required in the rose bowl, however i think that the main reason why the rest of the ride was retracked was to modify the tracks since they no longer had to be specialy made to allow for the extra train wheels which made the loop possible. Does anyone else know?

Whoa! I think that we are getting way off topic. Instead of getting under each others skin, why dont we just say the things that we think could be improved on the coaster? Come on guys, if you dont like the ride, then that is fine, but you could put in some input as to how the ride could change to where you would enjoy it more.

I do give much credit to Cedar Fair for reinstating Son of Beast's future after june, 2006. If CBS corp did still own the park, then it would probably just sitting there inactive to this day, if not PARTIALLY destroyed. I just think that maybe some more attention should go into improving the track and structure quality, as many of you have said, CF more than likely does like having the tallest and fastest wooden coaster. It is just depressing when a ride that a park calls its own unique experience just loses its popularity.
  25. KIBOB posted a topic in Kings Island
Has anyone else noticed that SOB seems to be losing popularity? SOB is the second tallest and fastest coaster in the whole park, but it it isn't even part of Kings Islands "Frightful Four" Coasters. I have never ridden SOB "yet" as i have now just gotten used to the massive coasters. By the way that most people sound, SOB is a very jerky ride. Maybe the park could just do a little bit of track and structural work "when Cedar Fair starts doing better financially" to make it smoother or even add on to it a little. Does anybody else think that Cedar Fair is dissing SOB?
