Sunday 5-25-08
My girlfriend Erin and I arrived at the park at about 2:00, which is way later than I usually get to the park, but we had church earlier. As we pulled into the the gold pass lot, there was no one checking to make sure that anybody actually had a gold pass to park in that lot. To some it might not be an issue, but my thought is that people pay to park in that lot so KI/CF should make an effort to make sure that it is being used by the people who've paid for that privilege. First ride was on the Monster, and I had a pod that spun fairly well. This was Erin's first trip since having a surgery at the beginning of May so I let her decide what she was able to ride. She checked with her doctor and was told that "whenever you feel ready to go, you can go." So, at her urging, we hit up the blue Racer. For about 3 trains before ours, the ops were not racing the trains. Don't know what was up with that, but we didn't race so we won.... Next we ventured over to BLSC, and after a 30 minute wait, we were on. No themeing was working at the helicopter part on our ride, or at all that day, from what I could tell. The Beast was calling, so naturally we answered. It was a decent wait, about an hour. Two trains before we were to board, we once again got to witness a vomit cleanup. This was the second cleanup we've seen this year, the first being on SOB. I hope this is not a trend. While in line, I remembered someone saying on the forum that sitting above the wheel makes for a rough ride. (Light bulb) We sat in the middle of the second car, and I have to say that was the best ride on The Beast I've had all season. Next we both wanted to scope out Boomerang Bay for a future trip so on the train we went. There seems to be quite a bit to do over there, and one could easily spend the entirety of BB's operating day over there. I hadn't been over there since it was WaterWorks, and I was impressed with what I saw. Stomachs rumbling, we headed out for dinner. Returning to the park, we found still no one at the gold pass lot. After notifying Guest Relations it was on to Son of Beast. Entering the queue the gentleman in front of us says "Oh, it looks like it'll be over an hour before we're on." Mind you we're at the ramps leading into the station at the bottom. The only way that would have been an hour would have been if the coaster experienced a mechanical delay. Sonny was rough in the back car but he's quickly rising on my list of faves. After a quick stop on the Viking Fury, it was on to the Eiffel Tower for fireworks. I had never watched the fireworks from the Tower before so it was something I'd wanted to do for a while. It's definitely a unique experience. I was shocked that there weren't more people up there for the fireworks. The elevator was taking a while to unload each time it would come down while we were waiting to go up. Anybody know why? I really enjoyed this trip because I didn't feel exhausted after like I do when I get to the park when it opens. Thanks for reading.

2 Questions
I remember what you're talking about. It was right next to the log flume (Wild Thornberry's), and it looked like fun. I never got to try it though.

Songs
It's not all old music. There's some newer stuff mixed in. I'd say it's about 50/50.

Regular Season Operation – Shakedown
Thanks for the great TR. I do have one question. Did the clown band wear clown makeup and full clown costumes back in the day, or did they just dress up in weird clothing? For some reason, I want to say they wore clown makeup and all...

NOTIFY PARK SECURITY
I had a guy in the Boomerang Bay train station try to run me over from behind with no excuse me or anything. As Gordon and Nemo can attest, I'm a rather large fellow, so it didn't phase me. Then he has the gall to stare me down like he's going to take a swing at me or something. It was funny but I really didn't know what was going to happen because well, you never know. On a side note, I know that if you witness a guest line jumping or smoking, you are supposed to notify the attendants. For example, on Sunday at The Beast, there was no one at the entrance to the queues, nor was there anyone once you enter the station. If you do see someone smoking or line jumping, once you are able to notify a park employee, it's too late. I think that security should make visits through the queues, that might cut down on the shennanigans.

People making out in lines
I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't mind it. I just don't pay them much attention. If that's what they want to do, by all means.

Thanks for the pseudo TR. Can't wait to see if he makes it or not. It'll be the first thing I check when I get home.

18 Hurt In Carnival Ride Collapse at County Fair
Interesting. I never really trusted those carnival type rides that are taked apart and put back together. This just reinforces that.

Smoothie Shop
I'm sure with the new "addition" being added, that the stand will see more action depending on the layout of the "addition." Time will tell.

Should the Clown Band Come Back to Kings Island for Good?
I remember that band. That's a part of what made Kings Island such a fond memory for me. It really adds to the experience. I vote yes. Bring back the clowns!!!!

Avatar Airbender "16 year-old" seat question
Man, I thought that meant you had to be a 16 year old to fit in the seat. Those with wider hips beware. OWWW....

KIC Doodles
I can't believe I'm the inspiration for a KIC doodle. I'm so honored. Good work. On a side note, I'm not sure I get the "I saw him 10 minutes ago." What's that aboot?

Cedar Fair Boss Says Expansion Is On Hold
"Technology is out there to build coasters over 400 feet. Does it make sense to go bigger? Financially, no. The price of steel today is unbelievable. We're constantly keeping track of steel prices to see what we can put in because we're ordering these coasters three years ahead of time. We're ordering coasters now for 2010. You can go as high as you want, but from a financial point, it's hard to justify." Very interesting. So by his own words, was the new "Swan Lake Coaster" a Paramount project or a Cedar Fair project?

Yeah, I'm not really worried about it until I start getting hurt from it. Until then, It'll be fine. Even so, I'll probably say something the next time I'm down there.

5/11/08 Trip Report!
I rode Delirium on 4/26 and 5/3 and every time when the ride reaches the top or near the top, (I can't really tell) it shakes. It's weird but I figure KI knows about it. At least I hope they do.

What rides have you NEVER been on?
Let's see. Since my first visit, eh? Slingshot Euro Bungee Rugrats Runaway Reptar (I'm too dang tall) Most new Nick U rides (The older ones that have been renamed I've ridden when I was smaller and younger.)

what happens to people?
I would guess it depends on park guest levels, and dumb luck probably. Sometimes you see people, sometimes you don't.

Food Prices discussion
Yeah, I was not thrilled with that. If only that price included a drink, I could start to forgive it. It was my own foolish fault though. For whatever reason, I didn't want to leave the park and give up my great parking spot. That's a mistake I'll only make once.
