Kings Island General Discussion 2025

It would be nice if the Passholder Preview was limited a little more in who could attend. I'd hate for the park to put a barrier in front of any passholder perk, but Friday's crowds were far too high for it not being Opening Day. I've seen some suggestions including having eligibility be based on when you bought your pass, switching it to a renewal-only perk, and implementing a reservation system for the day to limit crowds. In my opinion? Shift the Passholder Preview to being a true preview (with limited attendance) and restore Opening Day to being the actual first full day of operations. Let the employees get acquainted with their jobs and have a slower day, then open the floodgates the next day.

There were also a bunch of people talking about the fights on Opening Day, to which I feel the need to point out: these situations will not be fixed by raising the chaperone age nor by increasing the number of security personnel. We've already seen the massive increase in security and police presence throughout the park, and yet there are still fights. Solutions like installing facial recognition technology might help, but those systems also come at the cost of personal privacy while being unnecessary. The park already has passholders pictures and methods of barring entry. I don't know a good solution to help prevent fights in the park, but it seems the aggressors keep getting removed either way.

We’re nearing mid-July, and let’s be honest—this has been really rough season at Kings Island and for the company. From staffing shakeups to cutbacks, to things like no ice, no cups, and restaurants c

Whenever you have lots of people in one area, there's bound to be some fights. Passholder Preview Day was hot and lines were long. To be honest, I wasn't the happiest when I got out of a 1 and a half hour Beast line and needed a drink (because I was so thirsty) and the line was super long. People were very tired, and when people are hot, hungry, and tired, they get agitated easily. Like you said, there's only so much you can do with security and chaperone policies.

As for doing something with monitoring the crowds, I would recommend excluding Silver Passholders from Preview day. I don't know a lot of people that have Silver Passes, but I feel like if you are going to cut some people, cutting Silver Passes is the way to go. I think a reservation system would work well, but it's not really something Six Flags or Cedar Fair ever did. I don't know if this is possible, but a second preview day would also help, although I understand staffing could be an issue. With this extra preview day, it also gives the staff more preparation for the rest of the season. Some system where you can either reserve the first preview day or the second could work well, but I feel like it would be difficult to pull off.

Paramount did it as Gold Pass preview, but considering the amount of marketing for the Gold purchase window, I'm not sure if excluding Silver would make much difference...

Seeing that "falling trees" teaser gave me quite the nostalgic memory. I remember first coming to this website during the 2017 decoding thread (which spoilers alert, ended up being for Mystic Timbers)

I like looking through that thread too. I remember originally the rumor was a ride like Skyhawk at Canada's Wonderland I believe. Then it became a giga for awhile (which looking back I couldn't believe I fell for that as there is no way a giga would've fit back there), then I remember when the blueprints first got leaked. Then the rumored name was SplinterCat and then I remember announcement night. I was at my (former) local county fair in Indiana at the time and I remember looking at my phone past 10 and seeing the name the first time and I was like "what?!" and it took me a couple days to process the name as I wasn't expecting a name like that.

I disagree. Some of the worst offenders are going to be 16–20-year-olds and the chaperone policy only covers those under 15. If the policy were strictly enforced and passes were revoked without a refund for fighters people would learn their lesson or not come back.

Once the park decided to offer meal plans as an add-on for season passes, the park became the tri-state's cheapest babysitter for a lot of parents. Expensive meals and drinks were the last barrier to using the park for this.

And I know some of you don't think 20-year-olds need a babysitter or get dumped by their parents at KI, but you better believe some of them do on both counts. If they're living under their roof, I know some parents were dying to get a break from them come opening day. The kids who misbehave are also the ones most likely for their parents to want a break from them which further aggravates the problem.

Every year they continue sell meal plans they favor money over experience and safety.

Here's some photos I got from the Tower when it was opened for the last few hours on Saturday. 20250419_200850.jpg?ex=6808d88f&is=6807820250419_200858.jpg?ex=6808d88f&is=6807820250419_200903.jpg?ex=6808d88f&is=6807820250419_201018.jpg?ex=6808d8e1&is=6807820250419_201011.jpg?ex=6808d8e1&is=6807820250419_201043.jpg?ex=6808d8e1&is=6807820250419_201047.jpg?ex=6808d8e1&is=6807820250419_201231.jpg?ex=6808d93f&is=6807820250419_201207.jpg?ex=6808d93f&is=6807820250419_201212.jpg?ex=6808d93f&is=6807820250419_201217.jpg?ex=6808d93f&is=6807820250419_201452.jpg?ex=6808d9da&is=6807820250419_201459.jpg?ex=6808d9da&is=6807820250419_201503.jpg?ex=6808d9da&is=6807820250419_201703.jpg?ex=6808da4b&is=68078

Wait the tower was open on Saturday? I watched the elevator travel in slow mode go up and down twice...but never saw people up on the tower.

Yes, It along with Drop Tower opened a little while after the final storm passed, it was much less windy. Even WindSeeker started cycling the rest of the night (it never publicly opened)

The new festival structure site looks a lot more organized from above! I think it might be another couple of weeks until we see vertical construction, but once those poles go up it's just a matter of landscaping and putting the shades up. After that maybe we'll see the new tables move out of Tower Gardens.

Did anyone manage to see if the Living Liberty Bell holder had been moved somewhere outside of the construction fence? I'd hate to see it be gone forever because it was in the way of a big tent. I hope it goes back up with the landscaping and gets its little sign back.

From the looks of the web cam, Diamondback is still running 2 trains. I know this because the train that comes in doesn't stop immediately when it hits the break run, but continues on where the other train would be sitting in the break run

Yes DB still running 2 trains today. Racer still one train with only red side open, at least before noon. Park is moderately busy with 15 minute waits on most of the coasters. Lots of school groups here today

Edit: Blue side opening now

Hooray! I saw this on Friday and couldn't believe my eyes considering the timing of when I posted the question (just enough time for them to be put back up after someone read my post, but that's my headcanon). The location is a little further back than I'd personally have put it, but it's still super visible and is now framed within the circle. I'd love to see a neat little sign for it though. KI's sign shop has done wonders in the past, and this could be a nice partnership between them and the greenhouse team!

Does anyone know: if Flight of Fear were to receive further investment and had the possibility of getting new trains, are there trains that would work better and possibly be more comfortable to inhabit? I know there could be some issues with it fitting into the station without modifications, but I'm thinking theoretically here.

For those that missed it the lights have been added to the towers along the i-street fountain (2 per tower).

When do building permits for this winter start showing up? I remember Mystic and Diamondback showing up really early.

Soap Box Derby was filed September 15, 2023. The new permit site doesn't have any ride additions prior to that.

Mystic permits were filed in early June of 2016 if I’m not mistaken.

Why does Kings Island permits always get found but Sirens curse can come out of no where and nobody sees Cedar Points permits?

They were filed after the fact.

So essentially it just comes down to how soon they need to start construction?
