Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
That's a bit of a reach. On a 90 degree day, you're not going to have people walking around wearing masks all day. It's just not going to happen. Not to mention the number of masks that are going to blow off on rides. Hard to ban people when something like that happens, and it absolutely will.

That'll be their loss, IMO. I guess time will tell

Holiday World isn't, that's correct. We're planning to go there at the end of this month (unless Cedar Fair doesn't require masks). Indiana actually makes masks optional everywhere as of June 14, I believe.

Plenty of parks that aren't as well, though. Kentucky Kingdom and Hoosier Park to name a couple. I just don't think you're going to find the idea of walking around all day in 85-90 degree weather wearing a mask something that too many people are going to be willing to do. I know for sure I'm not, but maybe I'm just attaching my own personal feelings to this. There's no way I'd be willing to, though....so if they do go down that road, I'm happy the passes are good for 2021

I'm still not convinced about the masks. They're not mentioned at all in the Cedar Fair safety measures listed in this article regarding Carowinds. https://www.wbtv.com/2020/06/03/possible-carowinds-reopening-date-safety-procedures-revealed/

They are. That was announced...I want to say late April? Late April or early May.

well, the second bullet point does specify the hotel: Stay at least 6 feet/ 2 meters from other people and do not gather in groups. This includes both indoor areas of the hotel and outside areas such as pools and the beach.

Yikes. In that case I may be saving our passes for 2021. Not going to walk around with a mask in the heat all day.

People on Facebook saying that Cedar Point has announced that they'll be requiring masks at all times based on this link - but correct me if I'm wrong; this is for their hotel, not the park, correct? https://www.cedarpoint.com/vacation/packages/sun-and-fun/safety-procedures

It was posted two pages ago in this thread. Same update as earlier.

And now the wait begins for word from the parks...

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
I mean, IN resident here...we would've been first time visitors to both of those parks. But this was the first year ever that we bought Platinum passes (we planned to go to Worlds of Fun as well originally)...and so switching plans is a no-brainer for us

It would almost seem like a guarantee that they'd do a soft launch for passholders for a day or two before opening to the public, I'd guess. That's what most other parks are doing.

Also curious how it'll work for platinum passholders (if we'll have to reserve for certain days etc)

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
According to a poster here they're already hiring people - that person was hired earlier this week. As long as they're open by the end of June we'll be happy. We made hotel reservations to hit Holiday World and Kentucky Kingdom the last week of June...that might be changing.

Not a word about them so far.

So interesting. I wouldn't think KI would be hiring ride ops if they didn't have an idea of when they'll be able to reopen....and yet the lawsuit says otherwise. Very strange.

Maybe I've missed something along the way but how do we know that Cedar Fair is planning to use traditional queues?
-
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
Right, but they'd be recruiting for employees through job fairs, etc - we'd know if there was widespread hiring going on, I have to believe.
-
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
While I wish this were true...there's no way. They'd have to hire/train so many people, we'd be hearing about a hiring spree now if that were what's going on here.

And today's news of no reopening date for amusement parks is clearly why Cedar Fair put out their statement today. They must have been told bad news by the governor, and so now they're throwing their support behind this bill to override him.
