  1. Thanks for sharing. Most of the KI police officers also work in other jurisdictions on a full time basis (I believe most are Mason PD). Just like any police officers, they do an amazing job everyday keeping us safe, but don't always get the recognition that they deserve so thank you for pointing that out. Whenever you need park security just find the nearest park associate and they can have them dispatched to your location fairly quickly. The above comment caught my eye while I was reading your post. Not sure whay you were surprised that the park didn't offer you a consolation package. It was not the park that gave you an unpleasant experience it was one of the guests. Look at it this way...If you go to to Reds game and sit by an unruly fan, does someone from the Reds staff come down and give the people sitting around that person refunds on their tickets? No, they send security and Cincy PD down to take care of the situation and move on. I wouldn't expect anything more from the Reds, but maybe that's just me.
  2. WindSeeker ride opens at Kings Island http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/region_north_cincinnati/mason/WindSeeker-ride-opens-at-kings-island Seriously? You would have thought between all the marketing and waiting in line for the ride she would have noticed it doesn't freefall like DT.
  3. I completely agree with you...I'm at a loss for words from most of those comments Examples:
  4. KI's Facebook page just posted that it will be open Tueday including ERT
  5. As someone who opened this ride in 2005 I can tell you more than you would ever want to know about the ride...but to answer your question that inside the tunnel is not bad at all. There are a few S turns followed by a slight dip (drop) to the left before coming up and hitting the launch out of the bilboard. As others have said, the launch is probably the most intense part of the ride because of the G's that you pull in the helix as you climb the parking garage. Just be sure to keep your head back and it's smooth sailing from there. Enjoy the ride and be sure to let us know how it goes if she decides to ride.
  6. Day 1 - What made the admissions employee so unfriendly (tone, something they said, etc)? Day 2 - What kind of reaction were you expecting from the security guard when you handed them a safety pin?
  7. I believe you may start seeing promotions in August as the park nears the end of their daily calendar
  8. Expect a large crowd that day, especially if the weather is half decent
  9. The interesting thing about insurance is that most people see it as a hassle and a nuisance...until they actually need to utilize it. I can see lockers being thought of the same way, just another added expense that the park uses for revenue enhancement...until someone gets their personal belongings taken. Then it becomes a logical safe spot to store your personal items.
  10. Sounds like KI reported the incident right away to Mason PD. I understand the need to get facts in order, but does it concern anyone else that it took 5 days to release the sketch and description? I don't know what procedures were put into place to search the park for the suspect after the incident was reported that day. One would hope that searching began immediately with all security guards, Mason PD, and park police to be on the lookout for the suspect to at the very least question him regarding the incident. We can only hope that they find the suspect on the security camera, verify their identity via credit card purchase or FBI database, and track them down to question him about the events of June 3.
  11. As said before, why was the sketch just released last night, 5 days after the fact? While I'm sure KI security has been reviewing their security footage from that day, but I fear they may have missed the opportunity to stop and question this individual while in the park due to the timeliness in which the incident was reported and releasing the sketch so long after will not be as effective had they done it right away (Friday night or Saturday). If the incident really did happen, I hope they catch him, but in all reality they probably won't.
  12. ^Yes, they designed/programmed it to only valley in certain parts of the ride which would allow for an evacuation if needed.
  13. IJST (Now BLST) actually tested a "rain program" during it's first year of operation, similar to Diamondbacks current program. Sad to see it was not utilized.
  14. Why not get it processed since you're already there? I would imagine they would tell you the same thing but you can always call KI and they will be able to give a definate answer on their procedure.
  15. AZ's posts are hilarious
  16. They wouldn't be in the tunnel inspecting while the ride is operating.
  17. It's very easy to overlook the back porch and forget about it. KIfan73 described it perfectly as a hidden gem of the park.
  18. Not sure about the price of a mixed drink, but the back porch there is a nice place to grab a bite to eat if you're looking for somewhere relaxing
  19. Do you have something to report from your visit that day? That is what this part of the forum is for. BTW...you don't need to capitalize every word in your comments that you leave.
  20. Not necessarily just optimum payroll. There are many departments that do not directly generate any additional revenue for the park (maintenance, rides, landscaping, general services, etc), yet they contribute to the operating expenses like the departments that do generate revenue (food, games, etc).
  21. Ch 19 just reported that there will not be a delay for the opening
  22. Your "quotes" both state that the discount is at select mechandise locations. When you were purchasing your items did you happen to ask the merchandise associate what locations the discount was able to be used at and not just at their location?
  23. In the past ride ops have been told that they can not assist a guest in getting that last click...they either fit or they don't. That may have been what happened here.
  24. Snowman: Just out of curiosity approximately how many people did you see at McDonald's with the blue handstamp in the 30 minutes (estimating) that you were in the restaurant?
  25. ^what The Beast sup told you is correct...at least on most rides at KI As for Maverick, I highly doubt that they have an indicator on the control panel that tell them if the lights are on. Perhaps that ride op test rode the ride earlier in the day and confirmed that the lights were on.
