  2. ^I believe that is still the case.
  3. To answer your questions... 1) While schedules vary depending on the department you work in, you can count on working at least 6-8 hours on any given day (closing shift is usually a bit shorter for some departments). Seasonal labor laws (unless they have changed) will allow you to work up to 69.9 hours per week in the state of Ohio 2) I had plenty of friends that had apartments or condos that they lived in close to the park, however they usually lived with at least one other person. Not sure if 40 hours would be enough or not, you might need more hours depending on your living situation. 3) Other than age limits which are pretty clearly spelled out on the webite, you will probably be qualified for most posiions IN THE PARK. Keep in mind that positions in departments like games requires that you prove you can interact with guests and are comfortable talking into a mic to get guests to come to play your game. On a side note, I enjoyed every bit of working at KI and was able to learn so much about the industry. As pkiboy also said, I was able to see the ins and outs of the park and go to areas where the public will never have access to. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a summer job.
  4. ^^Believe it or not this is actually something that I really pushed for, especially on IJST when it first opened. I requested until I was blue in the face (and not from blueberry ice cream) for them to convert the speed lane to a single rider line so it would make the seperator's job easier and more efficient. I even took it upon myself to try it out for an hour or two every now and then only to find that there aren't as many single riders as you might think. I do think a single rider line would work best on certain rides like Delirium, Invertigo, DT, Beast (on busy days), FOF, & Daimondback (which obviously already has one)
  5. ^Close, but a few details are off... Yes, before a launch on BLSC the brakes open one by one however it starts with the furthest one from the station, not the closest, and works it's way back. The last brake opens just before the launch. Once the train has cleared the last brake, all of the brakes close together and will easily stop the train in the event of a roll back well before the train reaches the station. Once the train has been cuaght, it must be manually pushed back to the station into the launch position (something I have done many a time).
  6. ^^Your suggestion would be acceptable if Standbyme had mentioned that his family was only there for LaRosa's. There are far more products available for purchase in the Festhaus then LaRosa's products. I think most of the Festhaus' popularity is the fact that you have a variety of products at one stop. This is especially convenient for a large group or family who might all want something different for a meal but don't want to have to wait for each other to get their food. As for the volume, it can vary from show to show. Everyone has different comfort levels regardless of where they are sitting in the building What might be considered loud to me might not be loud to you.
  7. Perhaps you could explain what you mean by this comment by giving specific examples.
  8. Do you own a jump to conclusions mat? Or do you just like pretending you know everything? What evidence is there to support that decreased capacity is the reason KD's Drop Tower doesn't spin? None, you're just generalizing or "jumping to conclusions" (see video reference linked above). I highly doubt the reason KI's stopped spinning is because of a concern over capacity. Ever since the ride opened, it goes through spells where the gondola doesn't spin. As SOB_TOM pointed out earlier, it occasionally has problems with the motor that causes the action. Thanks Gordon, I needed a good laugh today.
  9. ^Or the lack of theming on the ride.
  10. What about them? It says the first 5,000 through the turnstiles which would include pass holders, not the first 5,000 tickets purchased.
  11. The ride time has always been about 2 mins 30 seconds. Try timing the ride cycle the next time you are there to check. Keep in mind that ride ops can disrupt the ride cycle if they need to end the current cycle.
  12. The last couple of years it would work like this Online tickets - 40 bucks with free parking Or You can buy your ticket at the park + pay for parking. I can't believe someone told you that they weren't going to sell tickets at the park. Seems to me that selling tickets at the park the day of would no longer make this a private event as anyone could walk up and buy a ticket to get into the park.
  13. It does seem a little convenient that the two armed men just happen to break into the park just as the employees were collecting money. Hopefully they have a good surveillance system and were able to catch these two on camera so they can identify them.
  14. Agreed. It's the one day/night where every guest is super nice and friendly plus they keep the park clean. Unlike the employees and their guests who like to trash the place that attend with a certain local company that buys out the park every September.
  15. Too much thinking for a Friday
  16. Just remember that the park is closed for private events for the 2 weekends following Labor Day, so the crowds might be a bit larger than usual.
  17. 1) Enchanted Voyage 2) KCKC 3) Antique Cars 4) Octoberfest Ferris Wheel 5) Safari Monorail
  18. I don't see them putting it in Action Zone just so they don't have 2 towers standing right next to each other.
  19. I'm not sure if this is a true change in the height requirement, someone else will need to verify that, but I can help with why it happened... There are many factors that go into changing a height requirement on a ride mid-season. Insurance, manufacturer recommendations/requirements, (sometimes due to an incident with a similar model at another park), etc. This is also not the first time that this has happened at KI. When I was working there the height requirement for The Racer went from 44" to 48" in the middle of the season. I know it can be frustrating and hard to explain to your son, but just be sure to not take it out on the ride ops when you are at the park as they have no say in what the height requirement is set at. It's hard for a younger child to understand, but the change is to make the ride safer for those who ride it.
  20. Agreed, it was an issue with the content on the shirt, not the person wearing it.
  21. My thoughts exactly. This TR is hard to follow.
  22. It will most likely be crowded that weekend since the park is closed to the general public the following 2 weekends.
  23. ^Sounds like you know him. Or stalk him... ...and now this topic has come full circle.
  24. Sunscreen used to be free in the first aid stations...not sure if that's still the case.
