KI 7-26-12 PTR
Good luck with that. Yeah, I kind of figure everything "Crypt" about it will be taken out, including Durga, and the queue, and the lava pit. That doesn't make sense. Why would you remove items that can be used for potential theming? I'm willing to bet that most things from The Crypt will still stand come Halloween Haunt 2012. They can still light up Durga, they can still illuminate the LED's in the lava pit, and they can still use the whole entire queue for actual queueing purposes! It makes too much sense to not use what they have.

New Track (Floorless?) at B and M Factory
That's the point. Each park has similar qualities that unite them, but likewise, they have coasters and thrill rides that differentiate them.

Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed
This should help Look at your keyboard, hit "Print Screen", then go into a program like Paint and hit CTRL and V. You're welcome. I wish I was alive to experience the Express before you saw Flight of Fear's building... As a side note, did I see Top Gun before the 2nd lift?!

What kind of coaster should replace Son of Beast?
I hear what you are saying now, Terp. But, this new 2013 addition is a Kinzel project, and maybe a little bit of Ouimet thrown into it. Most decisions about this (I presume) were done under Kinzel.

The Crypt: Gone for 2012!
It has already been announced that Wolf Pack will still be an active Haunt this year. EDIT: Darn Terp, you beat me to it!

The Crypt, in my opinion, was the strongest it's ever been as The Crypt in 2011. The theming was starting to look pretty good, and the uptime was great (way better than it ever had as Tomb Raider, and especially with the 9-flip cycle as The Crypt).

What kind of coaster should replace Son of Beast?
Terp, you may not have remembered this as you were typing, but Matt has stated that just because he is more oriented on family than the Dick, doesn't mean that thrilling coasters are out of the picture. We still could very well see a Dive Machine, just these coasters will be spaced out. EDIT: I agree VERY much with that. Whether Son of Beast is operating or not, It is still a HUGE part of the Kings Island skyline and without it, The skyline's look will almost completely change on that side of the park. When you lose that much from the view as your driving to Kings Island, You need something new to change the skyline. A new ride that is tall would be great like you said, but what would of course be better is a tall new wooden roller coaster. Remember what that area of the park looked like without Lion Country Safari? Probably not an eyesore, thus making it better.

From the Save Son of Beast Facebook page: "The Beach Waterpark across from Kings Island will Re-open for the 2013 season with a new owner!" The reply? "No it wont... they tore everything down." EDIT: From Kings Island's Twitter after the SoB announcement: "Will You Ever Open The Son Of The Beast Again?"

That's a good movie. 4 words. Tomb Raider: The Crypt.

The Crypt: Gone for 2012!
Thank you for clearing this up for me, AZ. That seems pretty cost effective, right? You could, in theory, replace all 50 of Delirium's seats this offseason, and only need to cast 50 new fiberglass seats, with little cost to the park. Although, I have no idea what fiberglass costs these days, so it could be expensive. Plus, you'd have 6 extra seats just in case! Or you could just keep the same shells and replace the hardware and restraints.

You know this how? FUN parks do not release attendance records publically.

Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed
... that was me. I believe my family was in that end of the park when I saw a group of people "not dressed like park patrons", if you know what I mean. They were over by the race cars looking at SOB and making hand gestures. Wanted to hear what they were talking about, but not trying to be obvious. I didn't move, but on their way back (and they weren't being quiet or secretive about it)- one of them said, "well, we have a few months before that announcement is made." Someone mentioned above that they thought it would be a few years before something is in there. My guess is that they have known this outcome for some time, and were keeping it up until they had a plan ready for the area. If I were a betting man, I'd say that the area will be an ongoing project for the park in a new area with a first phase opening of 2014. I would guess that they had a really good idea in May. When I told you what Mr. Ouimet said. The final decision may not have been made, but I think it was certainly going to take an EXTREMELY compelling solution for Mr. Ouimet to agree to "save" SOB. It certainly seemed like he had already made up his mind by the time that we had spoke on that day in May. I want to take this time to thank all my detractors and the people who called me a liar. While I certainly can't prove (at this time) that the conversation took place or that I reported it accurately, I do feel a certain amount of vindication. Maybe a member here will meet Mr. Ouimet someday and ask him if he ever "spilled the beans" to a guest about SOB before the official announcement, probably not, but you never know. Maybe a member would have that conversation and report it here and maybe then that member would be called a liar. LOL While I would love some more vindication, I would suggest that if any members here have the opportunity to meet and talk with Mr. Ouimet that they think of more important things to talk about because he is truly an engaging and dynamic person. You could say this happened when last you met. Nah, it doesn't work.

Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed
How are we due for another coaster? It seems to me that KBF, CGA, WoF, and Valleyfair! need more rides that stand out. CGA especially. Also, NEVER a ride behind Adventure Express unless we can't see it. I don't want another ride monstrocity disrupting her atmosphere yet again.

Kings Island or Kings Dominion?
Kings Island. Because Fixed.

How many times has B & M stated that they will not build a ride over 300'?

Wait, you say that when building a wooden coaster, less trees get cut down versus a steel?

What kind of coaster should replace Son of Beast?
4-D. Definately. And we can still have an Intamin Accelerator, see Xcelerator.

Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed
Wrong. A different legal entity was set up to build the ride. Legally, RCCA had no connection with the ride. RCCA stood fir Roller Coaster CORPORATION of America, too. Not company. The article says Roller Coaster Company of Ohio. I actually didn't know that they had to set up a new company to build the ride. Was it Paramount who did that? Also, did Paramount market it as built by RCCA, RCCO, or an in-house develoopment?

How so? It was RCCA, A for America.

$10,000,000 to build? Ummm. And after this, because of this thinking. Again. Cox Media. They really should know better. Don't forget about "Roller Coaster Company of Ohio!"

Boo Blasters
I vaguely remembered someone playing chess, and I remember now that it was he (or she) who used to play chess. Who knows why (s)he was changed? Also-- Some things I feel need to be brought up: The tourist being chased by skeletons has been stationary as of late. The swinging crates with the chain that bangs against it is slower. The timing of Boocifer at the end is off. When you hit the target that spins the clock face in I don't know what scene, it has a 2-second delay. The fog curtain isn't working as usual. Most everything else is running great!

A Kings Island Stretch
Thank you everyone. I have finished it (was due today), but had to start completely over to do many things mentioned here. Well, the only time we ran was to get out of rain (well, my group--I walked), and there was no mention of Jesus there! It was a Structure and Design camp at Wright State University. Again, thank you all for the advice! It helped a lot!

"Shortcuts on quality does not pay off in the longrun. Since it was a popular ride why not redesign and rebuild it with safety the main priority this time." Yup. 'Cause Sonny was a popular ride. EDIT: Also about Sonny: "I remember going to Kings Island about a million times the summer it was being built, watching in awe as the track came together, and then waiting 6.5 hours for the front seat when it opened. Only coaster I've ever been on that I liked better in the back because it was actually smoother back there lol. RIP Son of Beast." Bolded for emphasis.
