  1. The restraints have sensors that can tell if they are closed. I'm sorry, I meant the ride attendants, themselves. Thanks for answering that. Those images are fab. I'd like to have seen that. I could never find it before, I just happened to see it one day while I was stuffing my face with fries in Rivertown.
  2. When in doubt, drag someone else's avatar to your desktop to use as a size reference. Get the info on it, and use that pixel size for your own avatar.
  3. GYK, You've reminded me of something in your posts, The Crypt is a HUSS, and recently, there's been some trouble with getting replacement parts, (Dollywood's contract dispute sign comes to mind.) I've recently found this ride, and quite frankly, like it, and believe that theming will come. But if they can't maintain the ride, what good would be the theming? Does anyone have any idea of HUSS and CF's relationship when it comes to mechanical replacements? And,, you might be the guy that could answer this. The Crypt is a huge monster swing in the dark. How do the ride operators make sure all is clear in the dark? Hold a flashlight on their thumps up?

crowded? good lord it looks busier than a haunt night wow now thats scarry That's miserable crowded. That's 'buy all the balloons so I can float safely out of the park" crowded. I've never seen the Haunt look like that. I must've picked slow nights. (haha.... Cousin Eddie... )
  5. Possibly because not as many kids are running up to hug them. Haha, you got me there. If I saw a weird bigheaded smirking kid meandering towards me, I'd go the other way, too. (And yet, there's that rumored doll factory haunt, the difference would be...?)
  6. whoo- You make me wanna rush off to the park.
  7. To me it's cleaner, too. The Peanuts characters that walk around are cleaner looking than I recall the HB characters, but with Capt. Caveman, you could never tell if he were clean or not.
  8. This is your first trip, and you came all the way from New York. I'm not going to tell anyone what to do, but if I only had six hours in a park, with those rides, I'd go ahead and get a FastLane bracelet. One commenter estimated his wait time was cut by approximately five hours. That gives time to enjoy the rides without feeling rushed. Besides, as above posters noted, it's going to be crowded, and the day is going to be hot, and the rides on the FastLane list are fantastic.
  9. I would love this ride. I was told there was something akin to this in Ober Gatlinberg, called the Alpine slide, but I'm much prefer this.
  10. One reason to hire local?
  11. Really? What reason did they give you to ask for such a request? I politely asked why and was told that my shirt was not acceptable and that I full well knew why. This was about 10 years ago. I wanted in the park and did not feel like arguing, nor that it would have done any good. I went to the car, put on a Dorney Park shirt, and was allowed entry without issue. Nowadays, I am far more likely to wear a three piece suit to a park than to wear coaster/park attire. Even that frequently causes security guards to raise eyebrows, especially at Maple Grove. I was once asked to change/reverse a shirt that had Beethoven's autograph on it. I could see the attendant's confusion, it just took me a second to realize what she thought the shirt said.
  12. Looks like you all had a great time, thank you and Indyguy for the photos

If I ever see this man on the midway, he just may get a hug. THIS is the attitude CF needs at the top. I guess he could've qualified it by saying, "What the reasonable visitor wants, is what they will reasonably get." After reading about this Ouimet, it seems to me he knows how to turn a place around, and I'd like to see what he has up his sleeve. Perhaps his idea of a fast ride is a roller coaster, maybe he doesn't need a Maserati. Not all men that wear ties smother themselves in needless luxuries. Reading the KI PR (Do we call him Kipper?) Facebook page, those that purchased the pass liked the convenience, and those that did not, didn't notice the change. I'm confused by people saying that the FL is only two people deep- what about a family? I don't think that estimation sounds correct. Sounds like a decent deal all the way around. I can't afford it, but I think I'd be a linestander anyway, even if I could.
  14. Knott's is California, where there's a lot of talent in the wings to build imaginative things. I'm not saying Buckeyes aren't imaginative, or hardworking, but there's a lot of scenery designers, make up artists, and costumers out west, a glut of them.
  15. As the workers go blithely about their workday, and bodies pile up in the spaghetti bowl...
  16. Thank you all for the info. I'd done monster marathons before, and like them, but this was for paying customers; they wanted to look fahhhhbulous, dahling- well, as fahhbulous as a monster could look, given the circumstances. Five minutes wouldn't allow time for me to slit your throat, much less pull your eye out on its stalk. You've answered a lot more questions than what I asked, thanks.
  17. Terpy, you can possibly clear up something. I'd read somewhere that the Monster/Spider rides have a part that is difficult to inspect due to the design of the cart, is that correct? The design of the cart, the rounded formed design, I think, is what allows a smaller person and a heavier person to spin, thus allowing the smaller person to get Ralph Revenge on the heavier person for whatever reason. It doesn't look as if the rumored part wasn't to blame for this particular accident, because then the cart would have fallen off, not the sweep.
  18. As an added thought, it was recently pointed out to me the employment requirements for making monsters on the Haunt. It doesn't require any real prosthetic knowledge, and hardly any art experience. Has anyone worked as a make up artist during the Haunt to clue me into the methods, time constraints, rules of doing that many monsters? Is one allowed to use previous SFX knowledge, or must there be a rote method? I have SFX knowledge with making an applying latex molds, and have Monster making experience, but I don't know if any of that would be an asset if it's an assembly line, timed production. One person, no matter the talent or skill, slowing down the line might not be what's best for the company. I'm curious about it.
  19. No it is not. Employee theft is a concern for most businesses. It is also more difficult to catch the criminal since most security measures are pointed "out" instead of "in" (if you understand my meaning). When I owned my business, I would have friends go in and "check" my staff from time to time to be sure all items were being accounted for. Some intresting things I found: http://wiki.radioref...rren_County_(OH http://www.visitking..._jobs/index.cfm http://www.visitking...20Guidebook.pdf That pretty much sums up the security and employees I was dealing with. What business did you have? http://masonbuzz.com...dit-card-theft/ But this! They are too old to be doing that! And she is definitely TOO OLD to be wearing those tiny pants.

That's actually good to hear. Was it easy to find the FL line? Was there any confusion? That comes out to less that ten dollars and hour, if you saved that much time.
  21. The posts that are finger pointing to the park's own employees aren't a happy note. From the behavior of KI employees, that would have never entered my mind. I never went to a Six Flags to see it for myself, I never felt the need to go, and now, probably will never feel the need in the future. Kings Island PR blocks a user if they report a theft on his fb page. Doesn't just remove the posts, doesn't contact the user with any explanation, like, "Our security is working to alleviate this scenario, I'm sorry this happened, but i'm simply going to have to remove this nonhappy post." Just blocks, without thinking the FB poster has friends and family members that can still post. It's not a kick in the teeth, more like a wiggling of opened toed socked feet in one's face, but still, there's the wiggle.
  22. I have three nieces, one nephew that I took to the park until they were old enough to conquer it on their own. I would make alterations to the kiddy park. I would expand it a bit, take it back further, where the path to the water park goes. I would want to alter the path into the water park to make the entrance closer to the main park entrance, take it out of the kiddy park, to discourage kids talking the path out of curiosity. I've seen a lot of parents running after their kids down that path. A kid sees the kiddy park as their space, and all that in it is 'theirs' including a path that involves a train crossing. I would put more rides in the kiddy park that mimic the bigger rides in the park. They are seriously lacking a wild mouse, or Bavarian Beetle, some rides for that short kid that's just old enough to want the thrill. my sister and I are 4'9", and 5'2" respectively, we were too old for some of the twirly rides, but not tall enough for the monster rides. We wanted a thrill, not round and round. Even today, my sister just skirts the requirements to ride The Beast. Where the Boo Blasters building begins, which is the entry way to the kiddy park, I would decorate that a bit more, maybe with cutouts of toony flowers, or even three dimensional toony flowers, or motifs that kids identify as part of their park. Kids love to see toons come to life, so sculptures of toony things are a big deal. Flowers were the first thing in my head, it could be anything, but since the Peanuts have a rather small cast, it might be overkill to put them alongside of that building. At the corner, leading into the kiddy park, I would want a Snoopy, to point the way into Planet Snoopy, so first time visitors with kids can veer right around the corner, without having to look around too much to find the kiddy land. Kid's steps are smaller than adult steps, and thus, more 'expensive' when it comes to walking. A long walk for a kid tires them out, they enjoy the park less, they get cranky. If a kid enjoys the park more, with more energy for riding and playing, the parents get a better feel that their money is well spent, and will return. Getting those small kids where they need to be quickly would be good. Also, the building that used to be the Hanna-Barbera ride is used as storage for a haunt. That's a waste of real estate. A dark ride that is light hearted is missing. I understand there was an accident involving a child in a boat ride a while, back, though not in KI, but the boats were relaxing and gave kids a break, so they could refresh a bit, before going back to playing. I went on very long, but as I said, four kids of different ages in a kiddy park, I know what I want.
  23. Looks like one of those trailers rigged up into a mini funhouse, with a rickety ramp and noodles hanging from the ceiling.
