Haunt - Where to start?
I wouldn't feel the least bit bad about it. I was there Saturday Night and it was packed! I didn't know my niece was there, too, and she paid thirty dollars admission to ride two rides. She waited in line for two hours for Firehawk, I think. I'm going with her next Friday. She doesn't like Haunts, but maybe she can have more rides. Last Saturday is what those passes were made for.

I saw that, too, when I went. Must be a pimply faced rite of passage.

Haunt - Where to start?
I went through Slaughterhouse in daylight. It still was a great scare. Really kinetic.

NIghtmare Alley
I liked it, I knew what it was supposed to be, and I liked where it was placed. Like the movie "Something Wicked This Way Comes" there's an innate creepiness to carnivals. I'd like for it to be a bit larger, but for the first year, I think it added to the area.

Favorite halloween Haunt Maze
Just got back from "An hour of Haunt" that stretched from 5:00 to 10:30. Rode rides earlier, so when the crowd got amazing, (I haven't seen it that crowded since high school.) We got in some haunts. I take it back about Cornstalkers being Cornhuskers. Now they are just Crate and No Barrel. A good scare was had by someone shoving their hand through the stalks in front of my face. More of that and less warehouse would be great. The Wolfpack was naught but hirsute young men with Obsession Compulsive Hoarding Tendencies to me. Club Blood I always like, because of the atmosphere. There was this skinny, tiny, hissing girl that was really good. CarnEvil was good, I like the funhouse tunnel, the extras, and the effects the clowns work. For as many years as it's been running, Slaughterhouse is still the best in my opinion. The meatmen (and women) aren't afraid of being scary. I should be sore at my husband for telling them my name, but the creepiness of them yelling your name through the maze is a great scare, and that's what I'm paying for. My husband, on the other hand, almost lost it laughing. I liked the idea of Nightmare Alley, and I like where it's at, but walking through tonight, it was so crowded, that the scaractors didn't have that much room to interact. It seems like a good start, the freaks were good at what they did, but it seems small compared to the area. The make-up on the roamers looked much better than last years. Rivertown had this ..Waterthing? hiding very still in the dark. Really good scare. We kept to flat rides and The Racer, for a pass holder, the lines to the major rides were way too long. Even The Crypt had a huge line. Glad I got them out of the way during the day. We saw signs for FastFright for $30.00, I had thought it was $20.00. The lines for Haunts moved quickly.

Thanks! That'll save the hassle of leaving and then coming back.

Howl o Fest and Haunt?
Oh! Then I'll tell my friend about the lack of monster wall. It makes sense, as Saturday is a big kid day, so that wouldn't be fun to see little kids get scared by a wall of monsters at the gate, plus, the monsters have to get to their stations. I'd thought they'd clear out the park before Haunt, that's why I thought I'd have to leave then re-enter after it was turned into the Haunt. Perhaps we'll just stay in the park, unless we are ushered out, then. I believe, from this forum, we have one Slider, one Slaughterhouse, and One Nightmare Alley, am I right? If we have no wall of monsters, perhaps some fear zones and a maze or two might do. Thanks for the info.

Howl o Fest and Haunt?
Is it possible for someone with a gold pass to go during the day, then check out, then check back into the Haunt for a few hours? Tomorrow during the day is best for a guest of mine, I take it the big rides are open during the day, per their site, but we've bragged so much about the wall of monster, that I'd like to know if we can re enter after seven and just take it in for an hour.

Stricker's Grove Customer Appreciation Day 2011
At Disneyland, some man gave me a book of ride tickets, he and his family were on their way out, and it was really nice of him.

Tips for guests going to a haunted event.
And people laugh after they get scared. Some of my best moments at the Haunt are monsters that add to the humor of it, or crack something. Once while escaping, I whined that I shouldn't have worn my heavy steel toed workboots, I lost it when the scaractor, in a ghostly voice said "That was very styooooopid of yooooo." I was planning on going this Friday Night, but the rainy weather dampens the fog, and the cold rain is needles on your face on the rides, so right now I'm a bit sour. I'm hoping the monsters are still go all out when I get there. I'm debating if it would be worth it to go on the 14th, as I have a paying guest going with us.

Tips for guests going to a haunted event.
I truly dislike Haunt Badasses. To be honest, I either let them meander on and leave a break in the group in the maze if they are in front of me, or if they are behind me, I try to skittle ahead and lose them. There's what? 10-20 people going through a maze, and a single show off like that can put a damper on things for the rest of us. Jdawg, we had one of those guys with us last year. We left him eating spaghetti in the midway, and didn't return for him. Good thing he drove himself. Screamingnight, I do run away sometimes, to be honest. Hopefully I'll be heard through the fog before I mash into someone. I'll keep that in mind.

The Beast is rough
I got a lateral slam, too. I chalked it up to my size, or lack thereof, until my 6'2", 230 lb. cousin got the same treatment. I just hang on tight to the bar, now. I'm glad the sides of the seats are as padded as they are. Both times occurred where Flat Freak said.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
Yeh, changing the name to Space Rocket would really whip up that modernism. Thanks for the info. I recall the Spacely Sprocket carts in the Whip. I'd asked my dad, King of Unfortunate Lesourdesville Visits, the name of the coaster, he said it was "Cyclone". I guess he eschewed that hip jazzcat stuff you kids were into in the day. Ringmaster, no way. We would just say, "Let's ride the roller coaster." The only time it was scary is in the last years, when it was held together by 2x4s.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
Funny, but when I went there, it just had the name "Roller Coaster", being that it was the only one there. I can't recall it's name before it was given the name "Screeching Eagle". The train was just "The Train" and the paddleboat was just "The PaddleBoat", and so on. There was also a big tall fellow who walked around swathed in white robes in later years. He was "The Jesus".

Chainsaws?
I ran so far and so fast from the chainsaw guy in the worksite, I was breathless. I liked that maze.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
Far left-hand tombstone reads Screechin' Eagle. Oh thank you. I'd completely forgotten the Americana name they gave it. I didn't see that tombstone.

Halloween Haunt 2011 Review
I found a lot of them really funny with what they were saying. I did get startled more than once, to be honest.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
They forgot the little coaster at Lesourdesville. A least a little urn... or a popcorn cup full of ashes, at least. Not even a "fried dough" funeral chant.

Glasses - on or off?
I used to go without, then wore my glasses with a strap. I now use sports goggles, with the built in strap, these are the best.

Halloween Haunt Map
Thanks for the map. It'll help. I usually just tromp around the park til I see a skullhead.
