Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
I would love to see a mural painting commissioned for the tunnels instead, but I'm not sure what the theme would be. I bet they can find someone to hire for cheap to do the job....I'd do it for the cost of paint! (Also, loving the use of 'expedentially' in this answer. ) No need for paint either, just use all the gum that's accumulated over the years. They DID have 15, its just that the offspring of one of the best coasters in the park has not been doing well and has just been taken out of the official coaster count. Seems like a bit of reverse phsycology to me.

The Son of Beast Discussion Thread
Actually, to tell you all the truth, and after seeing the posts about Six Flags above, i can actually see Cedar Fair announcing something a few weeks before opening day that rather than demolishing the coaster, they will just re-track it with new steel rails, like a backwards hybrid. I am not sure, but i think that although steel is very expensive, it would be much cheaper and/or better than: A: Paying for the complicated demolition/processing/cleanup of the massive structure. B: Losing one of the park's record breakers and popular? coasters C: Paying for the outrageous amounts of maintenence that the wood coaster tracks would further require if they opened it back up as-is. D: While not changing the weight by much, the steel tracks would probably reduce violent vibration/tremors, and thereby reducing stress on the structure. I know its a little far fetched, but i must say that replacing the wood tracks with steel rails might reincarnate the SoB that should've been. -KIBOB, just being logical, and thinking for both SoB lovers and haters

Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
Today's 5@5: (look at #4, it is very interesting) Q: Larken Parr - Is being in park operations hard? DO you like being a manager? A: A fw people asked about my job so I will answer yuor question Larken as it asks two key things. First, I asolutely love my job and it only gets tough if I don't get to ride something during the season (last year it was Diamondback almost daily). I go stir crazy in the winter which is our planning phase and strategizing for the upcoming season, not to mention interviewing and processing the thousands we hire and bring back every year. Managing rides, lifeguards, admissions, guest services, park services and entertainment keeps me busy but I can't imaging having a "real" job. --------------------------- Q: Travis Nuss - Is the Son of Beast going to be open for the 2010 season? I know you guys get lots of comments about the ride. Why haven't you guys not been saying one thing about this ride? A: I am asked this question a ton. These types of decisions are not made overnight and as seen already in one off season. It still has not been decided and in my role I can only offer up my opinion which is one small part in a great number of discussions bigger than me. Cedar Fair will take the time it needs to make the best decision for all of our guests. --------------------------- Q: Kyle Joyce - The former Wild Thornberries River Adventure, will it be with Rivertown or Planet Snoopy? A: Wild Thornberries River Adventure will go from Nickelodeon themed to Peanuts themed and play to our world class (voted #1 for nine straight years) kids area. It will still be a great water ride to cool off on during hot summer days. --------------------------- Q: Tony Douglass - Are there any hints or clues as to what the new dark ride will be (or when we'll know)? I am most anxious about that! A: Good things are always planned here! The manufacturer is Sally Corporation and they will come in and re-theme this ride to be as exciting as it always has been. The ride has had some awesome themes. Hanna-Barbera, Smurfs, Phantom Theater, and Scobby all of which kids loved. I can't give it away yet but the ride technology will not change and guests will still shoot targets to collect the highest score. Stay tuned as we unveil this one because it will have one mroe exciting feature that themes before did not. --------------------------- Q: Adam Kaplan - Will The Beast get rain mode this season? I know Diamondback has it. I do understand the rain policy on the coasters but I would think since the block system is set up don't you thknk it can get rain mode? A: As a regular guest I see frequently, I had to answer your question Adam. To explain our rain policy on coasters, we only run one coaster train during periods of sustained rain. This gets tricky when the weather decides to start and stop throughout the day. Our maintenance staff has to respond to every coaster and either subtract or add units depending on the decisions we make based on the forecast. As far as rain mode, we were fortunate to work with B&M who manufactured Diamondback and incorporated into its safety system the ability to keep two trains running during lighter periods of rain. Each coaster's safety control system is not indentical and therefore can not be duplicated like Diamondback. Furthermore, the other coasters do not have the technology that Diamondback does and do not allow for this type of programming. Trust me we have discussed this topic plenty because we want to keep things running as much as we can. Ultimately safety trumps all and we will continue to run one train on those rainy days. ---------------------------

A Tomb for the Crypt?
My mistake, upon reading the comments on facebook i realized that the pit of blood was a reference to what could be, not what was. When i read that, it just made me think of someone saying "I miss Tomb Raider, especially the part were you were hung over the pit of blood!!" but now that you mention it, i had never thought of that before, and that is an excellenct, inexpensive, no-brainer way to bring back the water. Change the bulbs from orange to red, add water and walla!!! you have the pit of blood from the sacrifices of the demon bat.

This makes me kind of upset, more than so when it comes to International Street. Coney Mall and AZ yes, but the whole park, nooooo.

KI&MVRR Ideas
I thought that all of the land was from the holders of the defunct kings powder company. So Taft essentially also bought more land from locals who lived in the area? Hmmm....learn something new everyday.

KI&MVRR Ideas
I think that would probably end up just looking like a random run down house sitting in the middle of the train. It would end up just being an eyesore IMO. I say leave the fort up, just trim the overgrown trees! Wait......Im confused...... is there an old farm house inside the fort, or are you talking about the actual cabin looking house?

A Tomb for the Crypt?
- Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
Hey, they answered mine! I find this quite interesting, as all of the questions about the Crypt seem to be making the park think about it a bit more. After all, didnt one answer state something like "we base our ideas for improvements and new attractions from our guests and what the common people think and want" maybe if more and more people express concern for the ride, we may actually have a better ride, rather than a good themed que that leads to a garage.- Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
EDIT-^I forgot all about that, and i feel full gratitude to those people who risk themselves for that dangerous line of work. To make due, and for all of those who remember TG anthem and the fireworks : Watch the first video on mute, while playing the second video simultaneously (or just watch the music video, it, in itself is awesome) http://www.youtube.c...h?v=doLoD8VvWuQ- Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
Im just standing up for one certain neglected ride, anyways, i would not like to see the fireworks go and can see just how overpriced a gallon of coaster grade paint would be. The fireworks are wonderfull and i would also never forgive the park for getting rid of them. Remember, i was just stating a "what if.....possibly"scenario, and just a few nights of no-show fireworks, not a week, nor month, nor season. Anyways, getting back on topic, to add to the questions already asked of The Crypt, i asked if there was any possibility that more efffects and a return of water effects would be in The Crypts future (not referring to just this year). (P.S. Trying to word this post as best as possible)- Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
While KI is a regional park and it's not quite as big of an issue as something like Walt Disney World, how would you feel if you visited Kings Island on your only trip of the year only to find out you're there on one of the fireworks "off nights". Just a thought. I know you're just stating hypothetically. Actually, this did come to mind shortly after i posted. It was one of those "Oh, wait...." moments, but i think that something would have to be put in place to warn ticket buyers/visitors in advance of the hypothetical certain days.- Hip
I saw that coming soon as I read the title! If that ride will even be avoidable, as in being ridable. I think that Vortex would be one to avoid, at least it isnt a neck injury, because then i would highly recommend you stay off Vortex.- Kings Island's 5@5 Q&A Thread
Going back into this topic with the response about Flight Deck, i can see how painting Flight Deck would not have been in the winter rehab budget.......BUT......IMO, although i love the fireworks, im sure all of us could sacrifice a few select nights. Couldnt the park just skip the fireworks on a select few nights and regain the money saved for paint? Small consumer fireworks are outrageously expensive as it is, i can only imagine how much the park forks out for fireworks. ONLY A FEW NIGHTS THOUGH! Note: I do realize there is a contract with Rozzi, but isnt it changed/and/or renewed yearly? KIBOB, just a thought- Nick Toons store
Doesnt Graeters also have indoor seating?- 2/9/2010 KI Snow Pics
Do you think that that would endanger the golden ticket award? I mean after all, how many times do you see a log flume dedicated for kids. On the bright side, it would bring even more nostalgia back to the park. P.S. Am I the only one who can imagine CF painting the convey red, and building a pitch over it to make it a dog house, or put a wig on eliza, paint over the glasses, repaint the shirt and.....wallaa, LUCY!- Kings Island "Inside Jokes"
Good to know i am not the only one who needs a staple remover. Anyways, did you know Glad garbage bags are a big sponsor of Kings Island?- 1993 Kings Island Commercial-Paramount/Top Gun

EDIT: Wrong topic, stupid IE tabs- 1993 Kings Island Commercial-Paramount/Top Gun
I found this video on youtube and thought it was very interesting. The video is a KI T.V. ad from 1993, the year that Paramount took over, and the year Top Gun opened.- What's your favorite FAIL ride?
Im not 100% sure, but didnt B&M design Diamondback and present it to Paramount Parks, but they did not want it, then when Cedar Fair took over they were the ones who got back with B&M and worked on the proposed plans for it.- A First Glimpse at Planet Snoopy
