This popped up in my feed the other day. I've heard of people living near KI that go to the park for food like its an everyday thing. I live too far away to do this myself but if I lived close, I would at least be coming by regularly in the evenings. Not sure it would be worth dealing with the traffic and parking on Saturdays though. What I found funny, one of the videos shown in the park on the TVs is Chef Major talking about food at the park and he gives an example of people coming to the park 4 times a week to use their dining plan. The parks clearly know people do it but I would think they don't want to give everyone else the idea.

I suppose line jumping isn't a priority for them this year considering the other security problems but it would be nice if they kept security near ride entrances where they can keep an eye on the queue but in a spot where they can still spring to action for other incidents. Honestly, just a reminder about saving spots in line would be nice. Any time I see line jumpers they claim they are meeting up with someone, which is still against the rules. Obviously some are just lying while others think that saving a spot is okay. I've seen groups of 8+ pass an entire line to meet up with someone that they sent ahead. Frequent reminders about the policy would cut down on line jumping a good bit, imo.

Bummer. Sorry to hear about all this. Honestly, as much as I love Kings Island, you couldn't pay me to go on a Saturday and I know I'm not alone. My last two visits were on Sundays, in October, which are often good days to go but both were more crowded than I'm used to (though not as bad as Saturdays from what I hear) because I usually go on weekdays in the summer. Wish I had gone this past Sunday because the rain, from what I can tell, kept most people away. No Haunt on Sundays, and limited night rides too but the crowd is heavily family groups. If you decide to go back for Haunt next year (not sure there's any good day this coming weekend since its Halloween weekend), I suggest aiming for the first Friday of Halloween Haunt. I did that this year and it was a great time.

I'm curious where this new causeway is going. They could use some improvements there.

I still find it bizarre how that parks adds a new coaster every 1-2 years despite the chain's financial position and the fact that they have considered selling it at least a couple of times.

It's my least favorite coaster at the park but I don't hate it. It's just...why would I spend time waiting to get on it when Banshee is right there and has a faster moving line?

I think you just have bad luck. Granted, I've seen it have minor technical problems on my visits, including last Sunday, but those usually don't last very long.

I would like to ride Delirium more too but am usually with someone who isn't a big fan of spinning flat rides. Plus even if there's a short line, you're still stuck waiting on the next cycle. A good lighthearted Haunt attraction would be nice to see. Like something more on the level of Phantom Theatre but in maze form. Certain mazes definitely focus too much on gore. I'm pretty desensitized, so maybe I just find it boring but adding more fake blood and guts doesn't make anything scarier, imo.

I hadn't been to Haunt in probably 10 years, so my standards are going to be different. I went on the first two Fridays of Haunt this season. First one was a great time but we didn't do any mazes. Just lots of night rides. The second Friday, we did all of the mazes early, per advice on this forum. I was quite happy with the lighting and scenery in the park. I saw someone say there weren't enough scare actors but there were almost too many on my trips. The mazes were okay. Was never really my thing but they did the job. The one outdoor maze, Cornered, was probably the the only real disappointing one for me. It's just wide open and somewhat empty. Crowds definitely picked up the second Friday. I somehow got stuck in a one hour line for Orion. The longest wait I've had for any ride this year, tying Maverick. This isn't technically "Haunt" but I also went this past Sunday. The warm weather (high of 84) definitely brought out bigger crowds than I expect for a Sunday in October. Hoping next Sunday is much better in that sense.

Good to hear that, Tim S. I'm not that big but I'm definitely bigger than I was years ago and the restraints on some rides have a way of making that obvious. The Drop Tower restraints seem like they were designed for people who are either short or thin. I'm 5'11 around 220 and on my last ride the attendant had to shove the restraint a little to get that very-short belt to lock. It's my shoulders/chest area that seems to be holding it up. Maybe I'm just too manly for it I have a similar issue with Arrow OTS restraints like on The Bat. While they come down plenty enough to ride, it seems like the same area keeps them from coming down a way that seems appropriate. There's always a huge gap between my belly and the restraint as a result.

The queue is on the other side of the station. I believe nothing has changed there.

Does this thing announce that the person is too heavy or display it for people to see? It probably should be quiet about it and hopefully they post the limit somewhere to help avoid the situation.

I've looked a lot recently at the flat rides being produced and I've had trouble finding ones that look as exciting as a frisbee/discovery or a screamin swing while offering a good capacity. Aside from the capacity issue, Gerstlauer's Sky Roller looks like it could be fun. Or a Huss Jump2 (Sledgehammer at CW) As far as classic rides: Superbob/musik express. Would like to see an enterprise like Skylab come back as well.

Yeah, and the Columbus area was going to get a $2 billion "sports and entertainment" resort a few years ago. Chances of this getting built are extremely slim.

I've said in the past...someone from KI might have to go reclaim them in the middle of the night. I've never seen but I assume the existing Woodstock Gliders at KI are the newer kind that can't be snapped?

I think that's fair. KD could use something to grab people's attention. But they are also getting a "spinning" coaster next year, albeit a radically different sort, so some might say another spinning coaster isn't what they need.

Parks won't do it unless governments require it of them which is unlikely in most parts of the US. It's pretty clear that parks will only do the bare minimum of what's expected of them because such requirements are bad for business.

Considering part of The Beast had to be re-tracked in the middle of the current season, they should probably retrack large sections of it. Not sure how easily you could put prefab pieces on Beast though, especially inside those tunnels?

When they did Haunt on sundays, the haunt stuff didn't start until 7 anyways and the crowds never really show up, except a modest amount in the evening. It wouldn't get in the way of your daytime fun.

That's what I thought but it seemed like it didn't lock at all or retract to the correct position but I didn't get to a good look. Not really a big deal but it makes me wonder.

Speaking of seatbelt checks: Yesterday, on Orion, a woman in the same row as me showed that her seatbelt was completely loose and she could pull it all the way out (while buckled) and even stretch it past her head while the ride was in motion. Obviously the seatbelt is there as more of a backup precaution but it was surprising.

Based on the above, it sounds like the lines for MT, DB, and Orion went back and forth. Beast line got longer (30 minutes) once it was dark as one can imagine. My one ride on Orion was probably 25 minutes and I never saw it shorter than that. I passed by Racer once and the line was out past the entrance then came back later and it was a walk-on. I wanted to do a maze or two but I wasn't sure what the waits would be like (some of the lines looked pretty long) and wasn't sure which ones are worth it. Maybe I'll try next Friday. Still happy with my trip though. Got my first night ride on Orion and my first Beast night ride of the season (that fireworks thing kept getting in the way). Even got two meals on my dining plan (don't judge me for eating at 11 PM).

I've heard capacity on it isn't too bad but haven't been on it myself. However, it appears that the ride lacks the quick snappy, transitions that the other raptors have because it has to accommodate the longer train. I think a dueling raptor would be a better solution to the capacity issue while maintaining what makes raptors exciting.
