  1. Perhaps related to the preparations to reopen White Water Canyon? Does it drain into the same lagoon?
  2. The geese (at least the adult ones) will eventually make it clear that you should leave them alone. But yeah, I don't get why people aren't content just watching them from a safe distance.
  3. I agree with this. Seems like the major CF parks will have at least one big gap between coasters every ten years or so. CP hasn't opened a new coaster since 2018. KI had that gap from 2009-2014 and so on (though obviously the economic downturn then and now comes into play). After the last three coasters at KI, I'm feeling bad for some other parks. I'm content with what we have even if I miss Vortex. I did enjoy it that first year as long as it was a middle seat but I convinced myself it was better than it was.
  4. Makes sense that they could be for drones and now I see what he was implying about the drones. Didn't he call Son of Beast "awesome" on national TV that one time? I should have questioned his intentions.
  5. I did wonder the other day: What are big gray shipping containers (or are they trailers? or something else?) on The Vortex-plot for? I'm not sure how to feel about Shaggy saying to have high expectations. Now I'm scared.
  6. I think that happened a couple months ago. At least Orion is complete now. I'm just upset they reverted my correction to Tom & Chee's location. EDIT: looks like they accepted the change again. I'm so relieved.
  7. Your feelings on the ride are so close to what I saw about it that I had to doublecheck that I didn't write this (and your name is kind of similar to mine). This is all pretty much exactly how I feel about the ride, except I was able to bear the roughness over the years by avoiding rough seats. That awkward, sideways, drawn-out drop into the helix is something I've always liked.
  8. Is there actually national attention on FunTime? Does the public ever really care about the manufacturer of a ride where someone died? Shouldn't that mean [insert manufacturer] would have gone out of business by now?
  9. I feel the same way. I don't ever want to pay money to call myself "important"
  10. It will be curious to see if this improves during the season. I'm more concerned about the rides speed or lack thereof in my two rides. Also, are all of the rides trims now magnetic or are there still some friction ones? I want to get a ride after a heavy rain and see what difference it makes.
  11. Would be a bit surprising. Ride has decent ridership and good capacity. Arrow mine trains seem to endure for decades.
  12. If anything it was the opposite. Everything was a walk-on or station wait by 7 or so.
  13. A few thoughts after a long, great day at KI. People do seem to be treating The Beast as the star attraction again. Area 72 has seemed less busy than last year, possibly as a result and because Orion is now in its 3rd season. Orion ride ops haven't been as strict about restraints at least for me. I've been able to get a lot of airtime on it unlike last year. Seems like they are better at keeping the Freestyle machines stocked. Last year, even on light days, the machines would be out of non-diet flavor when I went in the evening. I was stapled hard on an early ride on MT but overheard a little kid behind me say "Please don't staple me!" so I chuckled The new Racer queue config feels so weird Action Zone really needs a drink stand Staff has been outstanding so far this season Even the very back seat of The Beast is decently smooth, but those trims hit so hard. A ride op told me that they got to ride it before opening without all the trims in place.
  14. I had no idea about the stretcher. But the ride was down the rest of the day. I hope it was nothing too serious and the stretcher was more precautionary.
  15. Didn't have time to post wait times today (Thursday 5/19/22) but it was a light day despite mostly nice weather. Longest wait I had was 13 minutes for Beast (or similar for BLSC) and got a bunch of walk-ons on Orion, DB, MT, Banshee... I think its the most I've gotten done in one day in a long time, if not ever. One downside: Beast was closed in the evening.
  16. I heard this spot is going to be used for the queue for the now canceled Knott's giga.
  17. That's not encouraging. I was going to go tomorrow and the weather is expected to be much nicer. Though as long as its better than last Friday, I won't complain.
  18. Speaking of fixes to The Beast queue: On Friday, during a really long wait for The Beast, some people got in that right lane where the sign indicates you go left for the front, right for the back and they pushed the trash bin a little further to make a little gap to get through. People naturally started following their lead and were able to bypass the switchbacks that were open on the front side of the station. I think the ops eventually went back and did something to stop it but it sounds like they either need to cover that sign up or put something else over that lane.
  19. Considering offenders aren't allowed to live within a certain distance of public parks, I would think the law itself requires them to stay away from amusement parks but I don't really know. Sounds like it varies a lot state to state..
  20. Figured they would mostly leave around 7 to 8 but I was with someone with low tolerance for lines and just wanted go home. When I saw that massive fleet of buses when I pulled in, I was like "fuuuuu....."
  21. I've only managed one ride. Front row. Took nearly 2 hours to get on. The line was reported as 120 minutes, but looked like a 60-70 minute line to me...but there was a technical delay once I got near the station. Almost like a prophecy from the park app. Obviously the front tends to be smooth but it was still noticeably smoother especially in the helix. However, on my ride, after the first tunnel for a second I thought I would get some air on the hill but then felt that trim more than I ever have in the past and got nothing. Hopefully I'll get multiple rides next Wednesday in different rows.
  22. As far as I can tell, the incidents have been mostly early in the season on the more crowded days and have been a little exaggerated. You should be fine on weekdays. In any case, these incidents mostly affect a small group of people and innocent bystanders are not likely to be harmed as long as they keep their distance. I can't speak to the water park but Fast Lane shouldn't be necessary on the days you mention. Weekdays are usually pretty light. June tends to be better than July. Even without Fast Lane, you should be able to do all of the coasters and some other rides, even in one day at the dry park. Of course, that's not guaranteed to be the case, but you might "see how it goes" as you suggested. Some rides build up a bit of a line even on mild days because of capacity: Invertigo, Flight of Fear, Flying Ace Aerial Chase and Backlot Stunt Coaster. You can just try to hit those early on. Other major rides have good capacity and might have 5-to-15 minute waits all day on a weekday. FL could still be helpful even on mild days depending on how much you want to do but keep in mind: among the rides that require FL+ instead of the standard FL, it includes 2 coasters with high capacity: Orion and Beast and one with fairly good capacity: Mystic Timbers. Flight of Fear is the one coaster that builds up a big line and a lot of people hate that ride (Not me but I say just hit it right at opening and decide if its worth your trouble). Also, this probably goes without saying but some people don't realize how often it rains in the area: Watch the forecast and be prepared for the possibility that rain might try to ruin your trip. Though at least rain helps clear the crowds and can give you some fast rides on certain coasters.
  23. My main annoyance with young kids is the small number of young men who think yelling at the top of their lungs right behind you (not even when a ride is moving) is the most hilarious thing in the world. Or similar things to that. But most of the young people I see are behaving themselves. In fact the only fight I've seen at the park was two middle aged guys trying to have it out after exiting The Beast last season, though they were broken up quickly by their groups, fortunately.
  24. I don't even think of water park attractions by their names, though I'm not a big water park person anyways. Back to Screamin' Demon. I only have vague memories of the park before 1987, the year my family first got passes and started my lifelong love of coasters and KI. I didn't know until recently that the ride (apparently?) was called Demon at the time because everyone in my family called it Screamin' Demon. When did they officially change it?
  25. I wonder how many people on KI Central are actually too young to know it as Drop Zone. Though it has been called Drop Tower longer than it was Drop Zone. I wish CF would have at least tried with the name.
