People were always saying how the loop was the smoothest part of the old ride, so why not make it the "World's Only Steel Rose Bowled" coaster?
  2. I can't say I've heard of Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park or Family Kingdom Amusement Park, Myrtle Beach, S.C. Every other I have heard of. I wonder how many people read something like this and them decided to come from out of the tri-state area to go to KI.
  3. Seriously, how sexy do I look?
  4. I've always wanted to ride Xcelerator, it looks like a pretty awesome ride. But if we couldn't steal it I would still like a similar ride that's as tall or taller (205ft) as fast or faster (82mph) and definitely longer (2202ft).
  5. Thank you for the positive comments and you're welcome familyguyfun1. Make sure to check out my brother's website for the rest of the pictures.

That sounds very similar to the guy with the UncleHenry lanyard on.
  7. Did you think about or actually tell Guest Relations about this? I'm sure they'd appreciate it.
  8. My brother (Thane Of Price Hill) and I were two of the 100+ people that were at KI for the event on 8/4. He took some pictures which are on the internet. I will be posting some of the ones I really like here. So we got there around 8:40ish and the parking lot was already open. I thought somehow Ryan and Dane got Carson Palmer to had out lanyards but it was just SOB_TOM in a Palmer jersey. As I walked through the metal detector it went off for the first time this year. I forgot that I left my PSP in my pocket so I had to run to and from the car. So we walked in and it was just KIC people and employees. They actually didn't have anywhere roped up when we first got in there which just shows you how early we were there. My brother got a nice picture of the Eiffel Tower right away. Then we meet over by the Paramount Theatre and Don, Ryan, Dane, and Josh addressed the crowds. I don't understand how they stayed in dress pants and shirts the entire day but they were as professional as they looked. These are some really great guys. Then we headed off to FoF for the first tour. It was awesome to see the empty midway as we walked through the park before it opened. So we just walked in the FoF exit and back the brake section to the bowl. There have already been pictures of the King Cobra trains but I was also excited to see another part of KI's history... ...Flight of Fear's over the shoulder restraints. There was also spare parts and other various assortment of goodies. Then, as I'm sure everyone has heard about, was the FoF run through. My brother got this nice picture of the train going through the corkscrew right over his head. After the train stormed through, we all made like Elvis and left the building. Next was the first ride on Firehawk. My brother decided to sit this out and got a picture of me on the first train of the day. I'm in the second row at the bottom with my arms out. Next we had an hour break before the Sign Shop so we hit up FoF and Racer. They were actually doing their best on Racer to have the trains race. This is something that they've been slacking on most of the year when I've been there. By the way, we won So we meet over with everyone at the entrance to Boomerang Bay/ the Picnic grove for the Sign Shop tour. Outside one of the buildings along the way there was an interesting sight. Normally you don't want to see any hearse by a theme park but it is almost time for FearFest. So for the sign shop tour they let people in my groups of twenty. As you may have seen posted before, there was the old King Cobra sign, various other signs and some carousel horses. and also Carson Palmer. Next my brother and I decided it was time for lunch. We went to Festhaus and got some delicious LaRosa's. When we were finished, we walked around the park looking for things in the scavenger hunt. We also went to the top of the Eiffel Tower to take in the view and get some pictures. While SoB was testing, there were two random guys riding by themselves. Then The Vortex IJ:ST Racer doing what it does best Next was the well-done, spectacular, and, probably most important, air conditioned show Endless Summer on Ice. I had yet to see it this year and really enjoyed it. There are some really talented people on that ice. If you haven't seen it, you should. The questions took long enough that we all had to walk right to The Beast tour. This was my favorite part of the day. As we were walking the access road next to the station, someone asked what we were doing. My brother quickly responded, "Cutting to the front of the line." Everyone around us had a good laugh. Our first stop on the tour was by the first drop on The Beast. Then we walked up a little more to where the second drop crosses the first drop winding into the woods. Next we walked further into the woods, past the second hill lift house, and over the tunnels. Finally, we made it all the way to the back before the the train turns toward the second lift hill. The train here is very close to the ground. As the people went by, they all waved at us. One interesting thing I remember is that there was a teen-aged girl in the front of the one train that had her cell phone out and apparently was taping the ride. For our last train pass, Ryan tried to get everyone to do the wave as they past by. Then we had to walk from the very far back of the park to the front for dinner. I was very excited to be able to eat in the old International Restaurant. It was a pretty good meal. And I tried to get some pictures to make a panorama of the view. My brother and I weren't sure how long we were going to stay. So we checked out the lines for IJ:ST and The Beast and they were both long so we decided to leave since we were tired and were going golfing early the next morning. It was a great day and a great time with great people. I hope I'll be able to do this again next time.

No it said Welchce. I was wearing a gray Notre Dame football shirt. I don't remember seeing you either.

I totally agree with both parts. I tried to get a video on my phone but obviously it wasn't that good. Thanks for posting your video, good stuff
  11. Wow, it sounded like you and your family had an incredible time. I'm sure everyone on here loves hearing about kids being turned on to the joy of ride coasters and other amusement rides. Great report. Too bad all the workers don't have as much fun or are as enjoyable as The Beast ride ops. I don't really understand the new loose article policy unless somehow they found out that not letting articles on the platform helps get people on and off the rides faster.
  12. He poses a good point.
  13. I totally agree. But since that wasn't a choice I went with The Beast tour. I thought we would just walk through and snap some pictures but I was very excited that we got to stay at each spot for several train passes. I didn't want to leave. It was a lot of fun. I was also a little disappointed that the SoB tour was canceled but the scavenger hunt kept everyone busy and was very fun. It was a great deal and a great time.
  14. Well technically KD is lacking a good B&M inverted coaster since Volcano (their only inverted) is Intamin. I have still yet to decided which ride I would want... actually I think I just figured it out. I'm pretty sure I've posted this before but I would like to see KI get Stitch's Great Escape from the Magic Kingdom and change it back to ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter and, of course, put it back in X-Base.

O yeah, I forgot to mention two more things that I wanted to... SoB was closed later in the day (I noticed it when I went to the bathroom before Drop Zone which was after 9). At Boomerang Bay they had signs around the wave pool about kids wearing life vest so it was good to see that they were following through after what happened at Great America.
  16. O okay, thank you. I heard that a lot of them were closed but I wasn't sure if they closed every single one.
  17. I believe the area they are talking about is this one...
  18. Was every Intamin Drop Tower closed for inspection?
  19. Yeah true. It's a lot harder to put into words or quantitate who will and won't fit because you can be the same weight as someone else but the weight can be distributed differently and one may fit while the other may not. I find it pretty awesome that people have found it hard to fit on coasters and then decided it was time to change. "We talk all the time about reasonable accommodation... well, 25, 30 per cent of the population is bigger or obese, and we continue to be discriminated against," argues McGuigan. Well I think 75, 70 percent of the population is a pretty reasonable number that's accommodated. But if the attendant did snicker and call the man "too fat" that's not acceptable.
  20. and the screamscape says.... 2008 - B&M Hypercoaster - Semi-Confirmed - (8/3/07) Screamscape sources confirm to us that the Canada’s Wonderland hypercoaster project is indeed a B&M project that will stand around 200 feet tall. The lift hill will go over the pond and near the Italian Job area, with the station going in next to Sledgehammer. From the sound of things it will travel to the West from here and back again.

My friends and I went to KI on Thursday the 2nd where four of us were there the entire day and two others meet up with us after work. While my one friend was in the process of telling me the story about the kid on youtube that got asked to be in the X-Games he exclaimed "Eiffel Tower" so he got to choose the first ride on account of villainy. He chose Delirium which we only wait a couple cycles for and was a good start off. I chose SoB as the next ride since I knew it would be my 100th coaster ride of the year. Both trains were running which was good. We waited around a half an hour, I believe, and got in the last car. The air time was amazing down the first drop but it seems that the rose bowl was rougher this time then I remember earlier this year. But that could've been because I had to go to the bathroom so I was concentrating more on the roughness (I had to have drunk several liters of water because I always had my bottle of water with me). Nonetheless next we went to Flight of Fear with its new on-ride video system. I was fairly concerned about the light for the camera ruining the ride but you don't even notice there's anything on until you look right at the light and see a soft red glow. I, of course, had to act it up. I knew there had to be at least a short clip shown after the ride so right away I picked my nose. After a little more ride I acted like the camera was a mirror and fixed my hair and checked my face. Then just before the end I did the look-around-and-sniff-your-armpits. The girl behind the new video counter just shook her head at me and my friends who were cracking up while I was jumping up and down shouting, "I win!" It was getting around lunch time and also really hot so we rode Recar, went to check out some more 60% off shirt deals, and then left to have lunch in the parking lot. After saving money with the packed lunch, we went over to Boomerang Bay to cool off for a couple hours. We were afraid that it was going to be extremely crowded because of how hot it was but it wasn't bad at all. The wave pool felt delicious. Then we went Taz Typhoon/Pipeline Paradise/ Down Under Thunder/Bondi Pipeline (straight down)/Crocodile Run/ and back to the wave pool. The water felt amazing. My only one peeve was the people that spend basically their entire day at Pipeline Paradise. Sure it's cool to watch them do tricks and stuff but when I was there waiting in line just to try it out and they're all on there for several minutes each it kinda got on my nerves. So we went back to the park to meet the one friend and ride the Viking Fury. However when we got off the other one got there and needed a parking pass to get in so we just decided to have an early dinner. We went to Skyline by the Beach again to save some money. It was very good. When we got back to the park we slowed it down with Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle and Avatar. This was some of my friends first times on Avatar and they really enjoyed it. We then walked past the closed TR:TR (it had a black covering over the entrance) to hit up The Beast. I can't get enough of it. Next was Vortex (always great airtime in the back down the drop) and Spongebob 3D (nice AC). Firehawk has a new feature which I haven't heard anyone on here talk about. There are new permanent rotating fans with misting around the queue. The mist wasn't turned on at the time but it still felt amazing. Great move IMO. The wait wasn't too long since both sides were open. My one friend wanted some Potato Works so we headed that way and took a round trip on the KIMVRR. It was nice and soothing. Then we took another walk through NickU and rode Phantom Flyers. To wrap up the day we rode Drop Zone (minimal wait) and Face/Off (walk on). It was a great day and a lot of fun. The water at Boomerang Bay never felt so good. I got another 60% off shirt which was pretty awesome and rode 22 rides. All in all, it was a great day even though it was extremely hot.
  22. It is probably for repairs to replace old pieces You're both wrong, they're going to put it beneath one of the footers to keep Vortex from sinking anymore.
  23. Great report. I'll have to remember that part about Raptor since I'll be going up at the end of this month.
  24. My thoughts were pretty much summed up by the Fool in this paragraph:
  25. I agree, I thought they were really good.
