Mystic Timbers Construction Progress

Featured Replies

^ As well as the fact that, generally speaking, as far as wooden coaster structures go, whenever there is a slight direction change in in the track, the supports will usually have extra outer bracing or inner bracing. Hence the need for an "extra" or standard third set of footings.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present your 2016 construction camera for Mystic Timbers!

Looks like I was right about this Camera location being a webcam!

Funny. The link was up yesterday but wasn't active. It's a great view of the first hill, but we won't see anything back in the woods.

Would like to send out a BIG thanks to Mr. Helbig and the whole team at KI for going out of their way to do things like this.

On a side note.....

This webcam will give some pretty spectacular views of the lift hill, drop, and first curve / hill as they're under construction. As well as very far down the line, this would provide some awesome views of testing!

I wasn't geeked about the curved drop until I rode Lightning Racer at Hersheypark last week.

Thats a fun GCI!

Only GCIs I rode is Thunderhead, the first drop surprised me with the sudden airtime and the steepness.

Now all we need is for someone to set up a script to grab the still image every minute and compile that into a series of time-lapse videos. Any takers? :)

Hey, can someone how is good at photo shop or simular program do an overlay for the construction site camera and the layout (prints) so we can see how the layout in terms of where they are working?

You know what I just realized? The way those plans are laid out, the shed and the station are across the railroad tracks, right in the footprint of Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown. I really hope that's not correct. I was thinking RFYLCB would be safe, as the park hasn't said a thing about it.

No it's safe. The station is past the Railroad tracks yes, but it's not too close. There is room. The way I have it on there is not accurate at all, due to the camera being a fish-eye, so it's hard to get it accurate.

Don't fret, I believe the actual location of the shed and station will be about the area where the iconic Watch for falling trees fence went up(roundabout). Charlie Brown will live to race another year at least.

Edit: I didn't mean right where the fence is... I believe the entrance/que will be directly behind the fence.

It's supposed to take up the space that the former funnel cake stand took.

That picture doesn't look like it has the layout quite to scale.  It has the station is out on the midway.   I'm pretty sure the entire layout is within the railroad tracks.

Has anyone honestly gone to Mason City Hall since the announcement to see if they have new plans filed?

I'm going to attempt to do this weekly starting today! Here is a construction progress of Mystic Timbers (Via a top/down view of the ride)

Note that right now it's only footers that are placed, and not the support structure it's self.

Thanks for starting this; it'll be just like 2013 with Banshee's construction progress rendering! :D

Are you using the webcam for this? Cuz you probably won't be able to see what they're building to in the woods beyond the first hill.

I wonder what the chances are that they might set up a temporary Web cam that moves as the construction does?

Seeing it from the Diamondback cam will still be possible for a few glimpses here and there

I still think a camera on top of DBack would provide a better viewing angle.

I demand all builders have a Go Pro at all times. Mounted to the hardhat. What we got is Stone age viewing devices. We're in a Brazen Bull with these medieval viewing devices.

I want 30 to 40 different clickable Go Pro instant links. I want to see what Harvey is doing at this angle and what Cliff is doing over there instantly. What is Cliff doing over there??

Kidding. But I do want a dream Go Pro. I'd show you how trippy my dream was last night. I kinda want that more than a Hoverboard skateboard.

They need to get on that...cause watching a dude surf in first person....just isn't that cool no more.

So If Mystic Timbers were to open today, would guest have to cross the tracks to get to the ride?
