  1. Hate to burst your bubble, but your friends didn't get stuck on the ride. Their train setup on the second lift and I highly doubt it was for 15 minutes.
  2. years meaning minutes right? Where exactly have you heard this if not from nickroedl.com?
  3. I have always been intrigued by Volcano, The Blast Coaster at KD. I've never rode it since I've never been to KD but I have always wanted to. It looks really awesome. But where would this new area go? Like this area? Exactly the area I was thinking. They would have to decide on if they are going to wind around the backwards racer (or recar) or build through the structure like they did for FOF and the entrance to AT. Another problem is that the land is on a slight grade toward the top of your picture, it's not severely sloped, but manageable
  4. Oh no...you might have started something now I can see it now some rookie worker at the park is going to start telling guests that they are tearing out The Beast to make room for this new coaster.
  5. If you could take one ride from any park in the country and place it at Kings Island, what ride would you pick, and where would you place it? As much as I love Millennium Force, I think that if you took it from its current setting next to the bay something would be missing from the ride. I don’t know what it is, just something about going up the lift and being able to look out over bay adds to the experience. I personally would like to see Volcano from Kings Dominion at KI. This would only work if CF actually took care of the theming on this ride. I could see them taking out half of Action Theatre’s queue and using the current entrance as an entrance to a new area, maybe a Jungle themed area? This ride would fit perfectly in that type of area and they would be able to keep the trees like they have in Rivertown.
  6. Usually they start to sell the next years season passes at the end of August and then heavily promote it through the post season (Sept and Oct). Paramount used to give you a free parking pass for the next year if you purchased a season pass for the following year before the end of the current season. Not sure if CF would offer this or not.
  7. It used to be that during hell week that the park would close as early as 6:00 on the weeknights.
  8. Shh...that's the secret underground highway that no one knows about.
  9. Watch out Nick, KI might try to take your idea
  10. KI used to provide housing to it's international workers only. This was stopped due to problems in the dorms at UC by these workers.
  11. Correct, this is where the fireworks used to set off from before they were moved back by the haunted trail.
  12. As many problems as TRTR has had in the past, there needs to be a direct access road to it With the exception of IJ there are no major rides that do not have access roads leading to them.
  13. If you are referring to the gravel area behind it and next to it. This is the maintenance access to Drop Zone.
  14. Monroe is right, now that I went back and saw where they were talking about. There would not be a way to redesign the access road and to keep it hidden. The only way I could see this working is if KI pulled a Disney and made a tunnel going to TRTR. But I wouldn't count on that.
  15. footings...footers Does it really matter we know what he was talking about
  16. Might not seem important to you now that you are older and can ride anything. Put yourself in the shoes of a parent or a 5 year old child and you will see why having the #1 kids area in the world is a big accomplishment. I can't think of very many other parks that can compete with Nick U.
  17. Glad to hear that AE is finally getting a little bit of attention.
  18. Excellent point. Several people are assuming that TRTR will have it's theming taken out over the off season, but there has been no announcement suggesting such a change.
  19. Lol...Love your description of the ride
  20. Agreed! Maybe we keep having these threads because people keep notices that the theming is not being kept up and is getting worse. I think many people are surprised by this, they really thought that CF would fix these problems and would keep up the rides theming. CF has a big problem on their hand (well they actually have more than one), they bought THEME PARKS and they don't do theme parks. Yet those park guess are use to a theme parks experience. No, Paramount parks were not Busch or Disney but they are/were more themed than CF parks, most Six Flags parks, Holiday World, etc... I think you are missing what we are talking about... We do not disagree with anything that anyone is saying about the theming on TR going down hill. Heck, myself and Nick have commented many times on this topic. Like Nick said, it just seems that everyday there is another new topic started about this same topic.
  21. Unfortunately in a wide open area like KI you will have those that do not know about the park being non-smoking and then those who just ignore the policy. Glad to hear you had a good day though.
  22. If you are concerned about a specific ride being closed, you may want to call the park before leaving. Right now it is impossible to tell you which rides will not be open 2 days from now. KI is usually good about updating the boards outside the main gate on which rides will be closed for the day. I would recommend you take a look at that before entering the park.
  23. Totally unacceptable! Employees are required to follow the same rules as guests, and in this case it sounded like it didn't happen. I hope that the manager laid into them after talking with you. Being a member of that crew for 4 years including being a supervisor of those rides for 2 of those years, it sickens me to hear of this kind of behavior from this ride crew. While I was there as a supervisor I worked hard to make these one of the top and most efficient rides in the park and I know I succeeded in that goal thanks to a great crew. I am sorry about your experience on these rides, but hope that you enjoyed your day.
