  1. My favorite ride at KI? Invertigo. I haven't got to ride it yet this season, so my favorite so far would probably be Flight Deck.
  2. I just thought of something... didn't Kings Dominion remove El Dorado (a Chance Falling Star) to put in their WindSeeker? So, maybe since we know Holiday World had a ride called "Banshee" that was the same ride type, is this possibly a clue that we might be getting El Dorado? I'm thinking it won't be called Banshee (that sounds like a coaster name), but still. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but it's just a thought...
  3. Here are my rankings: 1. Invertigo 2. Flight Deck 3. Racer 4. Flight of Fear 5. Beast 6. Diamondback 7. Adventure Express 8. Vortex 9. Woodstock 10. Backlot 11. Firehawk 12. Flying Ace -Great Pumpkin isn't included because it's a kiddie coaster that I haven't ridden in years. Also, I do not consider Surf Dog a roller coaster.
  4. I actually thought this was pretty cool. I really enjoyed the music in Action Zone; it gave the area sort-of a dance club feel. EDIT: I do agree, though, that the music by Delirium was a bit too loud (but it was cool nonetheless).
  5. The Reds grill looks great; I didn't get to eat there yesterday but I did take a look around and they had some really cool stuff. I was impressed and I'm not even that much of a sports fan! Although this is true, I do know they had some issues yesterday.
  6. Thanks for the trip report; yesterday was a great day
  7. When I was there today (from about 9:30-3:15-ish), it was pretty busy, but started to get much busier after about 10:30.
  8. I'm just ready for the season to start... I'm pumped to start riding great coasters again like Invertigo, The Beast, Flight of Fear, Racer, Vortex and others. I'm also intrigued to see what Action Zone looks like without SoB or Thunder Alley; riding Flight Deck sure will be a different experience.

I like most rides but Thunder Alley definitely comes to mind, only because you drove around in an oval, which can get old after a few rounds. Also, the seats were very unusual. Edit: I thought WindSeeker was really lame the first time I rode it, but now it's just a nice break from the action.
  10. So, for me, it's a tie between Adventure Express and FoF. I had originally voted for Adventure Express because of its theming in the tunnels, but I changed my vote to Flight of Fear because I feel like FoF's theme is more consistent throughout and extends for a longer period of time (AE's individually themed tunnels vs. FoF's long themed line + the station), plus, it does have more of a themed line than AE does. 13 days!
  11. I think Diamondback is pretty cool (especially in the back), but Invertigo is probably my favorite coaster at KI. Beast, Vortex, Flight of Fear and Flight Deck are pretty awesome too. Also, welcome to KIC dollmandback.
  12. I thought this was a really good article and I too love wondering what could have been at theme parks. I'm especially interested in the "lost projects" at Kings Island. I remember asking a question about this on the 5 @ 5 (when it was conducted via Facebook) and I got a reply about the original plans for the Flying Dutchman.
  13. I think Adventure Express has a unique smell. I also enjoy the smell of grease on The Racer and hot pavement. 33 days!
  14. Thanks for the pics, ohiocolts. I also didn't realize how massive SoB was. The Cincy pictures were cool too; I especially like the 5th one.
  15. That would work.
  16. I think a perfect Kings Island for me would be most of the old Paramount ride names back (though I'd keep the name Invertigo and maybe the new paint scheme). The Racer would also have a backwards side again. Also, the kid's area(s) would be Nickelodeon Central and Hanna-Barbara again (and re-themed as such, but without Scooby's Ghoster Coaster). Finally, although we can't bring Son of Beast back as it's too large of a ride, I'd love a huge coaster that makes as big of an impact on the coaster world/Kings Island as Son of Beast did when it first opened (before all of SoB's issues).
  17. As I'd said in another thread, I do have some Kings Island and Cedar Point buttons. I also have some maps of Kings Island, Cedar Point and Six Flags Great America. The oldest items I have are probably a Kings Dominion brochure from 2001 (promoting HyperSonic XLC) and a 2005 Kings Island map. I also collect t-shirts. I only have my Diamondback First Rider shirt now, but I used to have a Maverick shirt (now it's in really bad condition), a Comet (Great Escape in NY) shirt and even an Incredible Hulk shirt (Universal). I think I also used to have a Top Gun (now Afterburn) shirt from Carowinds. EDIT: I also have a newer Spongebob Souvenir cup (it now holds pencils).
  18. I noticed this too when I first saw it
  19. Today I noticed that the front cover of the Mason, OH edition of Our Town Magazine is a photo of people riding The Racer wearing Coasting for Kids shirts. Inside I found a huge article on Kings Island; check it out (it's on pages 12-19)... http://issuu.com/cincinnati/docs/mason-our-town-april-2013 There's also a small article about The Beach waterpark reopening.
  20. At first I thought this announcement/addition was sort-of random (like it came out of left field ), but now I really like the idea. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy baseball and pulled pork.
  21. These pictures look really cool I especially like #41 and the pictures that show the rest of the park from the lift (like #9 and #34)
  22. I really like the new paint job. Reminds me of when Flying Ace was themed as Rugrat's Runaway Reptar.
  23. Ride Tennesee Tornado and Mystery Mine, they are both amazing! Also, Dollywood has some amazing pulled pork. There are 2 places in the park that serve it and they are both in the Craftsman's Valley area of the park.
  24. The only opening day that I've been to (that I can remember) was Opening Day 2009. It was very crowded; thus, I only rode Flight Deck, Diamondback and Flight of Fear. Surprisingly, I only waited 10 minutes for Diamondback because I was in the Single Rider Line. EDIT: And, I got a free T-Shirt! (Diamondback First Rider)
