1960s Ride photos?
I was just wondering if anyone had photos of some of the rides that were moved over from Coney, from when they were at Coney. I have a friend who is interested in finding some photos of our Scrambler from when it sat at Coney Island. Can anyone provide such photos? I checked Coney Island Central and found some, but unfortunately, none of Scrambler. Thanks!

What are your plans for the 2012 Season?
My plans consist of course of a trip or two or twelve to Kings Island, and also a trip to Carowinds, my first non-KI park. Naturally, I look forward to that.

Meal Deal?
Taco Bell will continue to do well among park-goers even with Chipotle there. I mean, if I wanted to pay 7 bucks to eat, I'd just stay at the park. Plus, I don't keep a bottle of Chipotlaway with me, so Chipotle and roller coasters wouldn't do well for me.

Ride Rotation
I love every coaster at Kings Island. All of them. But if I had to choose, I would trade Diamondback for something, anything at all, with a unique and creative layout. I'm in a very small minority, but I see engineering as an art, and Diamondback is just... for lack of a better word, boring to me.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
I don't see how it could ever be claimed to have been fatal. I mean technically, I have ridden every coaster at KI (minus SoB) and one day I guess I will die, having previously ridden them so... Then again, I've heard people claim that rides were fatal when they absolutely were not. For example, my girlfriend's dad swears not only that The Bat derailed once, but that he had ridden it earlier that day. And a good friend of my mom's once tried to claim that "The batman coaster" formerly at KI was closed because it cut a girl's legs off, and refused to believe when I said that it was the SUPERMAN ride, which was a Drop Tower at KENTUCKY KINGDOM.

Whats the funniest rumor youv'e ever heard?
Someone last year tried to tell me that 2011 was Vortex's last year. And when I kindly informed them that they had heard from an unreliable source and that it simply is not the case, they proceeded to yell at me that I'm wrong. I was never aware it was a touchy subject :/ But I guess by one definition, 2011 was its last year, while 2012 is its current year

first time trip questions
And if you REALLY want to eat cheap, my usual restaurant of choice is the nearby Taco Bell. There is also a new Chipotle, but that's not much cheaper than eating in the park, if at all.

Riding Partners
That is correct. I go with 2, making a group of 3.
-
Riding Partners
I often go with 3 people, but only if the odd man out doesn't mind riding alone. I don't mind it too much, so if I'm in an odd-numbered group, I will sit alone if nobody else wants to. It's all a matter of preference. Some people don't mind it. Some do. The only thing that irritates me is when my group insists on sitting in front for EVERYTHING. I like the front seat on almost every ride. But when they separate me from my beloved 5-1, I get very upset.

Happy 25, Vortex
25 years later, it's still the classiest ride in the park, just barely edging out Adventure Express. Not to mention those curves... Sorry, Arrow fanboy moment.

Why Disneyworld is So much better than Kings Island..(No hating, Just constructive criticism)
I think everyone has already stated the meat and potatoes of my argument. I've been to Disneyworld once. I loved the experience. I rode Space Mountain, my first ever roller coaster there. But If I'm choosing where I want to go, with only my own interests in mind, I would choose KI over Disney World any time. They offer 100% different experiences, and for me, Kings Island is a much more fun park.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
It's called Google, and it took less than 15 seconds. http://www.google.co...iw=1536&bih=718 While it's true that WE know how to find its status, what about someone who is not from the area, not an enthusiast, and has not been to the park recently, if ever? They may see some rides on the website that they want to ride, but when they get there, either A) Son of Beast will be unfamiliar to them, prompting them to (presumably) annoy staff by asking about it or they could do what one family that I talked to did and miss out on The Beast all day because they only saw one brown wooden coaster on the website, saw that the obnoxiously omnipresent brown wooden coaster is closed, and skipped out on it entirely. We would never make these mistakes, but think about it - we know Kings Island better than even most locals. Granted, I will say that this family didn't seem... all there, nor did they seem able to read a map (We were in line for WindSeeker and they asked how to find Racer) but if you think about it, The Beast is literally at a dead end of the park that has little else in it. If you thought, for whatever reason, that it was closed, it would be unlikely that you find your way back to that area to see for yourself.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
Though I agree that people should raise a mental red flag when they see no mention of the ride on the website when they do their research, I think there would be somewhat less confusion if the website noted in any way, shape, or form, that yes, the ride exists, and no, it will not be operating. But maybe that would raise peoples' hopes too much.

Where is your Favorite Place to Eat While At KI?
Inside the park, I like Rivertown Potato works, as well as Rivertown LaRosa's (I like the atmosphere better than Festhaus or Int'l Street). But I typically go to Taco Bell for some Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, and next season, some Doritos Locos Tacos. Yum

Going to Carowinds this summer - ride suggestions?
And all this time I thought the KD Flying Eagles were ours. I'll definitely have to give it a go then. Also, could someone explain the "snapping" Phenomenon that seems to be all the rage in these parts? I've never ridden a flying eagles, so I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Going to Carowinds this summer - ride suggestions?
So thanks to my parents decision to go on a vacation in the South, I get to go to a new theme park, and that's Carowinds. My trip is in Early June, so I guess I should ask a few questions - 1. How crowded can I expect it to be? Not sure if I'll be going on a weekend or weekday, so info on both would be appreciated. 2. Any "must rides?" I love anything and everything Arrow, so obviously the Carolina Cyclone and the Mine train (whose name escapes me) are musts. Are there any rides that I should make sure I get to go on? Suggestions for Coasters and flats are all welcome 3. If I understand correctly, any Cedar Fair souvenier cup can be refilled at a discounted price at any Cedar Fair park. Is this correct, and could I use my 2011 KI cup? 4. For those who have ridden multiple WindSeekers - is the new view worth it? I know the view is part of WindSeeker's appeal, but I don't know if it's worth waiting in line for a ride I can ride any time I want at home. 5. Boomerang Bay - would it be worth it to take out of my one day at the park to go to boomerang bay? Is it significantly different from ours? Thanks to anyone who answers my questions

Songs That Remind You of KI
Well, there's Right Now by Van Halen, due to my utter surprise early last season when I learned that Drop Tower played one of my favorite songs of all time. Then there's Wheel in the Sky by Journey, which I still think should be in WindSeeker's lineup And Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams, because the feelings he describes in that song describe to a tee my summer of 2010, and my fond memories at KI that year. 2011 was just not as good for me, maybe because of my bi-weekly trips not seeming quite as special as the 3 I enjoyed in 2010. That, and 2011 was when I lost my coaster buddy and KI was never the same after that. We shall see what 2012 brings in that regard. Anyway, lastly, I think the theme from Chariots of fire should go in my list too, because when I ride the first drop on The Beast, I can picture it in slow-mo with that music playing, lol.

Working at KI
Park Services is an underappreciated department. The sweeps are, in my opinion, among the most important staff in ensuring a good experience at the park, as there's nothing as bad as walking around in a dirty place IMO. And I am thankful for them that real life isn't like RollerCoaster Tycoon, where every other guest pukes after getting off the kiddie rides. I don't usually have sympathy for fictional characters, but man those RCT handymen have it rough.

Color Me Surprised
Interesting that you say that, because I'd favor just about anything over U2. But now that I've said that, it'll probably be a Glee cover of U2, which admittedly, would be worse. In my humble opinion, every ride should follolw Drop Tower's footsteps and play Van Halen. Though it probably wouldn't work as well for most rides as it does on that one. And you, as well as most people, likely disagree. Which is likely the reason they DON'T exclusively use songs by one artist, lol.

What do you miss the most about Kings Island this off season?
I miss my Vortex. There's nothing quite like going upside down, head over heels all while getting shaken up a little.

What`s next for Son of Beast?
I do it in the front seat, but only in the fifth car. At least on Arrow coasters.

What Did YOU Think Of The 2011 Season?
I voted one star. But it isn't KI's fault. My opinion of the park itself in 2011? 5 star completely. However, the season itself was very hard for me, due to the loss of my best friend and KI partner. The season was the worst I have ever had, and hopefully ever will. But I loved WindSeeker and DA. I loved the brick pavers. Kings Island did great things this year. I only wish WindSeeker could have opened a few weeks earlier so he could have ridden it. Oh well. That's all over now, and it's time to move on. I don't think it'll ever be the same for me, but here's hoping I can make new memories with new friends for the 2012 season. Just don't mistake me for on of the complainers. As I've said, management made stellar additions this year, I just wish that I had been more able to enjoy them.

The Passing Of A Legend
As you can probably guess by my avatar, this is very sad news to me indeed. But on the bright side, my KI buddy who died this summer (and loved Vortex as much as I do) finally got to meet his biggest unsung hero up there in the great amusement park in the sky.
