  1. And, yes, jcgoble3, you are right about Magic Mike's identity, as evidenced in the show when Ed says,
  2. Diamondback's page seems to be properly linked again. I sent KingsIslandPR An @reply on twitter mentioning the problem, and boom, it was fixed the next morning. Not that I'm taking credit, they likely already knew about the issue, but it never hurts to drop a line to the appropriate people when there is a problem.
  3. Well, can't argue with Don... Though it is still weird to me that that part of the show was absent the last two times I saw it. They were both the 6:00 showing (last of the day) so maybe that has something to do wi it. Additionally, the very first time I saw it, I don't remember him inviting guests up for a meet and greet, but that was in June, and it's quite possible that was my own fault not noticing. But the part with the kid was definitely not there my last two times seeing it, and the people I was with can attest to it. Regardless, it doesn't matter. With or without that part, it is still the best show to grace Kings Island in the time I've been going (though American Country and British Invasion are also fantastic!). And I'll admit, after my first time seeing the show, I've been spending the next three trying desperately to figure out his tricks (I'm a science-y kind of guy, and I hate when I can't figure things out). I've figured out a couple, but stage magic still mystifies me. And before anyone asks, no I don't want to be spoiled, I want to figure it all out myself.
  4. Maybe I've been seeing the show on the wrong days, but has anyone else noticed that in recent showings of Psycho Circus, the audience interaction part has been removed from the show? I've seen the show 4 times now (first alone, next 3 all when showing someone who hadn't seen it). The last 2 times, there has been no kid volunteer from the audience, no Magic Mike, none of it. Basically a third of the show has been cut. Does anyone who posts here have knowledge from a reliable source as to why this is removed? (Tried to Terp-proof my wording, lol). This was a great part of the show, and I really enjoyed it and felt it added to it's being a family show. Without that segment, I feel it is more adult-oriented than family-oriented now. I should add that I have never seen the so-called "bra gag" that I've seen mentioned on these forums in the past.
  5. I would assume wither way will get you your discount, but you should probably ask at the FUNPerks counter just outside the main gate.
  6. I'm sure there's some degree of ride cycle configuration that the park can set upon buying such a ride. In fact, since Tomb Raider/The Crypt ran 4 different cycles in its life (I think that's correct anyway) then I'd say it's a sure bet.
  7. I'm 6 foot 2 and weigh 135, so I'm very small. But not small enough that I can get by on an Ice Cream cone. Nachos, however, will easily hold me over for at least a few hours. And to be honest, the portion sizes at Hank's are not small. Also, the fact that you can get anything on them at no added cost (except meats, which only add a dollar) means that you can get a reasonably sized plate of nachos and it will be affordable.
  8. Don has confirmed, both on Facebook and on this forum that Flight Deck and Adventure Express will be unaffected by the removal of Son of Beast.
  9. Yes, someone knows. (homestar92, pulling a Terpy) But to answer what you meant to ask, I, unfortunately, have no knowledge of where you might find such a piece. Sorry
  10. Lots of areas besides food service reduce or close down locations when the park is not as busy to warrant keeping the location fully staffed. Why have all the food stands open when there are other locations that can take up the slack? Why keep all registers open when they are not busy? Just keep open one line rather than two or three. Fully staff the locations during the very busy times and when business slacks off due to small crowds and fewer employees, close some locations and send others to other locations or send them home. Same thing goes with rides during the end of August when students start going back to school. No need to keep all job locations fully staffed when the crowds die down and start sending employees home. Why pay employees when there is not enough work volume to justify staying open. I see your point, but why not close places that sell similar food? For example, close one of the two Skyline locations, or one or two of the three LaRosa's. Perhaps close one of the various places that sell hot dogs and hamburgers, or one of the two Potato Works (just not Rivertown). But of all places to close, Hank's makes the least sense. It's by far the most affordable for many guests, and they serve a type of food not available anywhere else in the park, as well as having two of the three Coke Freestyle machines. Not to mention, unless I've forgotten something, it's the only place to eat in Oktoberfest besides Festhaus.
  11. Well, in the park's defense, I think just about every employee knows it was once Paramount's Kings Island, and if the guests never see it, why change it? Then again, do you want the employees reminded of the Paramount days? From my understanding, working at Kings Island is much more FUN now.
  12. My only complaint with foodservice is that they close down many places when the park is less busy. Yesterday they closed down Hank's, and I only had brought enough money for nachos. Because of this, I was unable to eat in the park. You can't get a sufficient amount of food anywhere else in the park for less than like 8 dollars.
  13. Flight Deck was operating today.
  14. I didn't even notice it reaching full swing. Seemed to me that today it was only swinging from 3-9 o'clock. Isn't its swing supposed to be 2-10?
  15. They could put wolf pack in Flight Commander's queue... You know, just a thought. I mean, it is still there after all.
  16. The Beast's Sexy metal wife exists and occupies a plot of land right next to him. He even had his lake drained so that she could move in.
  17. I hear Cedar Point has a bobsled coaster to unload, lol
  18. Though I would assume that if, for example, a train was past the MCBR on any give ride, they'd use the generator long enough to get any trains that are on the track safely to a brake run.
  19. My first was Adventure Express. I rode it twice with my mom while my brother, sister, and dad rode the then-new Son of Beast, and King Cobra. Quick question, did those co-exist for one season or two? The first coaster that I really remember my first ride on was the then-named Pepsi Ripsaw at the then-named Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America.
  20. I guess those unbanked turns are bad for hats. My girlfriend's brother and my best friend have both lost hats on AE as well.
  21. I think it speaks for itself.
  22. For the people sad to see SoB go because it's a ride they loved, look at it this way. I LOVE Vortex. It's my favorite ride at any amusement park anywhere, except for Beast at night. But if Vortex were injuring people frequently enough that Kings Island was getting sued about it over and over again and they announced that it was being removed, I'd have to side with their decision to take it out, because I want Kings Island to stay around forever. And if they continuously get sued over one ride, that will significantly harm their finances. I would never let my love for one ride lead to my favorite place in the world going away. But then again, as much as I love Vortex, the combination of all the other rides in the park is more important to me than Vortex itself (though admittedly, if they took out Beast, I wouldn't be so sure about that). Basically what I'm saying is, unless Son of Beast was literally the ONLY thing you liked about Kings Island, you should be understanding of their decision and happy that they are making a decision that will hopefully help them stay around to see their 50 year anniversary, then 60, 70, 80, and on.
  23. Those Bamboo-looking plants aren't new, unfortunately. They were here at least since last year. maybe longer.
  24. Also, if you think service is slow at KI, try eating Panda Express at Carowinds. My trip was over a month ago, so I don't remember what I had ordered. But it took 45 minutes. Yes, 45. With the way lines had been that day, I could have ridden AT LEAST 6 or 7 rides on Intimidator while I was waiting for that food. Worst Dining experience at an amusement park ever. (Though I will add, they did fill my cup with a drink wristband). Granted, I didn't have my car that day or I would have left and re-entered like I always did at KI before this year. Now I just eat Hank's Nachos every time. Only costs me $4.25 and it's a decent sized portion. It isn't much cheaper to eat outside of the park anymore, so I don't bother leaving. Lesson learned: Make prices reasonable, and people will buy your food. Before this year, all I would eat at KI was maybe 1 order of Bacon Cheese Fries from Rivertown Potato works a month. By lowering prices, KI has gotten probably 5 times as much money from me this year. Also, so nobody is confused, Carowinds does not have drink wristbands in the same way KI does. At Carowinds, the ONLY way to get an unlimited drink wristband is to buy a souvenir cup, which costs $15 instead of the $11 (or is it $12?) that they charge at KI.
  25. No, I don't have contacts. I have an old pair that's very close to the same prescription, but I don't like to use them (becasue close to the same prescription is not the same and can still cause a headache.) I keep them in my car in case I lose my main pair somewhere and need to drive home.
