  1. So I've been to KI dozens of time and have never lost a pair of glasses. But Earlier this week, I broke my only pair and with the fix I used I am concerned that a KI trip prior to replacing them may cause a lens to come out. Basically, they're the kind where you have half of a frame, with the bottom supported by a nylon thread-like thing. In short, they broke and I'm currently holding the lenses in with a bit of fishing line. They're mostly stable, but the lenses wobble in place a little. It takes a lot of pushing to get it loose, and I've never gotten one to come out with any reasonable amount of force. Basically, my question is, would the G-forces of a coaster be likely to exert any more force on these than a firm push with my fingers does? I can't replace them for a couple weeks, but I don't want to be riding blind that whole time if I can avoid it. So basically, my question is, do you think any of the coasters at KI might run a risk of me losing a lens (besides Firehawk, which I never ride with my glasses period, for risk of losing the whole thing).
  2. I've always wondered why Skyline and LaRosa's will fill drinks with the wristband, but not Chick-Fil-A or Panda Express. Are the contracts for those places different than the others? All four of them are chains that exist outside of the park, so it seems like they would work the same way. Though obviously, they do not.
  3. This thread was revived from 2003. At the time, PKI would have been appropriate because that was the name of the park back then.
  4. I am an odd one I guess. The Dentist absolutely petrifies me. So much so, that even something as unrelated as riding Firehawk gives me a mild panic attack due to the fact that the angle at which the seats lay back in the station is about the same as a dentist's chair (I'm fine once I get to the lift hill though). I guess it's some sort of weird psycological association that triggers unpleasant memories in my mind. But that's neither here nor there. Despite my horrible fear of dentistry, I recover amazingly fast. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed and an implant put in, and as pain pills go, one Aleve when I got home was the only pain medication I ever took. I don't know if this helps my case, but I still don't think I'll risk it until at least Saturday. If my girlfriend gets off work Saturday, we will be going to the park for KIC day, even if I can't ride it could still be a good time.
  5. You can also tell by looking at the station, that it was built for a 4 rows-per-car configuration. You have 4 gates, then a support beam, 4 more then another support beam, etc. This also likely accounts for why some of the gates don't quite line up with their respective row (and why the yellow arrows on the ground pointing to the correct seats are necessary in some spots).

Nobody really knows Backlot's spiel anymore because they don't play it just before the launch like they used to. Usually you're halfway to the helix by the time it starts.
  7. I was never really at the park much pre Cedar Fair. I think two times is the exact count, both Paramount. But I do miss the days when I could go to the park on a weekday and walk right on everything. It seems like the park has gotten very crowded this year, possibly as a result of The Beach closing down. But if the rumors are true that it is opening again for '13, then next summer should be better than this one even. Oh, also, I miss Invertigo matching the rest of Action Zone. Though its new paint is very sharp.
  8. I will probably ask just to be sure. I just figured that if there was a big glaring "Absolutely not!" that I would get it here. Basically, I didn't fugure I'd get a definite yes, but if it were a definite no, I thought that conclusion would be reached pretty quickly.
  9. I hope and pray we don't get a B&M Giga. I just don't see the point. We have Diamondback, I just don't think we need bigger Diamondback. Now an Intamin Giga... I'd take one of those happily in a heartbeat. But you'd not see me show up on opening day and wait in a 5 hour line for a ride we essentially already have.
  10. So I know all the safety signs say not to ride if you've had recent surgery. Well, I had Oral surgery today, and was hoping to go to KI this weekend (or more preferably, Thursday or Friday). I asked my doctor about recovery time, and he said that, unless I were to get an infection of some kind, 2-3 days of rest is plenty for a full recovery. While I know it would be better to ask a doctor, I'm just asking around to see what you guys think. (I will not hold anyone on this site accountable for my own stupidity if I hurt myself lol). Or are those signs more geared at the more physically demanding types of surgery anyway? In case you're wondering, the surgery was removal of three wisdom teeth and the addition of one implant. Any advice from someone who has had similar procedures would be great
  11. Maybe they can use some of SoB's footers to help reinforce Vortex and stop it from sinking XD
  12. I liked Intimidator more than Diamondback. Its layout (while still boring and unimaginative) was a bit more interesting than Diamondback's. Never ridden either of the other two. Though I will add, when I want to go fast without venturing too far from home, Diamondback IS the best way to get that fix. There used to be some other way to go nearly 80 mph at Kings Island, but that is nothing more than not-so-ancient history these days.
  13. I guess my days of pointing at Son of Beast from Adventure Express and yelling "I can't wait for that part!" when I'm at the park with out-of-town friends will soon be over ): Unless another Woodie replaces it. Then my trolling shall resume once again!
  14. I just meant if it part of it was standing in 2013. Nobody knows how long or how short of a time period it will take to remove Son of Beast except park management. Actually, it's possible park management won't even know. I'm sure they have a projected schedule, but things like weather can throw off schedules for construction/demolition.
  15. They always have accepted the souvenir cup wristbands at Hank's when I go. No idea about the 20 oz FUN Perks wristband.
  16. I'm 20 and I have old PC games in my closet that are on 5 1/4" floppies. The computer I'm typing this on has a combo drive with slots for both sizes of floppy. And this computer has a 3.0 GHz Dual-Core and 4 gigs of Ram. In short, this computer is not ancient, I chose to have those drives. I guess some people might call me a nerd, but nerds make all the money and get jobs right now, so I guess it's all good.
  17. They're Janitors in 3, Handymen in 1 and 2. Also, I call RFYLCB, "The Log Flume" due to the fact that there are no other log flumes in the park . Congo Falls is a Shoot-the-Chutes type of ride if I remember correctly.
  18. As a result of this thread, I will henceforth refer to all rides in the park by what they WOULD HAVE been called if this were RCT.
  19. ^ The Coke Freestyle Machine is in Hank's Burrito Shack. Also, My drink of choice is Dr Pepper, so either way, I can't have it. At least Coke has a similar product in Mr. Pibb. And yes, my spelling of Dr Pepper is correct. Go look at a can of it.
  20. I worked at Cracker Barrel once... Worst summer of my life. My managers were all crooks and liars though, so maybe your store is different.
  21. If Delirium had an issue with a part, and they had a spare in Sandusky for maXair, would they order a fresh one for Delirium, or send it down from Sandusky and Order a replacement for them?
  22. I should add another. I really like video games, lol. I think this would also fit very well: Also this:
  23. I was just wondering what your opinions on WindSeeker's soundtracks are. Do you think it's perfect? Think some songs need to go? Or, do you have ideas for songs that you think would work well? I have one (and this hearkens back to the video game theming topic we had a little while ago) and the song is just over 2 minutes, probably perfect for the ride. I had also always hoped for Wheel in the Sky by Journey or Gonna Fly Now from the Rocky soundtrack, but alas, it was not meant to be
  24. Not to mention, Invertigo parking is really just as good as WindSeeker parking. I almost always park there. Something I never thought to do back when the gold pass lot was fenced off. Just get there early, and you'll find a good spot just as well. Not to mention, it seemed like last season, they'd start letting anyone park in the gold lot as you got later in the day.
  25. There's an old footer from The Bat's transfer track that, until very recently, had an old, rusty bolt sitting on it. It had been there since AT LEAST 2010. Perhaps it was somehow related to The Bat or Vortex. Either way, it has been removed now and I am saddened. I always wanted that bolt. If I had disposable income, I would pay top dollar for any piece of an Arrow Dynamics Coaster. I'd really like the front car from an Arrow looper train to go in a future man-cave. Anyone know if those ever show up for sale? That would be an artifact worth something to me.
