Losing glasses on rides
I don't want to ride without glasses. I feel safer with my goggles on. I don't feel the desire to have to wear the headline about that poor guy that lost his sight on the Double Dragon as a custom shirt. The rides are much better when you get that great clear view of the bottom of the drop, plus, I don't squint my eyes against the wind, and get to enjoy the woods when I ride The Beast.

Your KI Gear
I have some really tall thin glasses from Cobra? FOF? I think? I got them because the blue writing on the glass looked good against a Cranberry Sunset. I still use the glasses at parties. They say "Taste the Fear." I have two Diamondback coffee mugs with carabiner clips on them. A REALLY old Dino the Dinosaur shirt. Still have Nickelodeon beach towels. I usually don't buy souvenirs for souvenirs' sake, but the tall thin glasses were exactly what I was looking for, even with the writing. It just made the drink that much more dangerous looking. The rest of the stuff was bought from the need to have the item, like towels. I have been gifted a hella batch of Hello Kittys from KI, mostly bought during past Haunts, like a tradition. I scream the hell out of my head, and then on the way out, stop at the girly store and we get a Hello Kitty, to bring the terror home. It would be boss, but impossible, if not very difficult, to have the Kitties in outfits that matched up rides in the park, Beast (Big paw shoes) FOF (alien outfit) etc.. As it is, you wait for Haunt to get a theme based Kitty, because they are wearing lil devil or witch or whatever outfits. Most of them in the store are the same kind you can buy anywhere- at KI, it would be good to have the thing look like a KI souvenir.

KIC Day 2012 8-4-12 PTR
Sounds like a great time. I might be interested in the Haunt if I could drag the mister out of his chair. I think it would be fun.

Blackouts?
When I began to experience grey outs, it was during times at the park where we would go from coaster to coaster without a break, walk right on without waiting in line. Later found out the problem was caused by low blood sugar, plus the fact that going onto so many rides in rapid succession didn't help. It might help to eat once in a while during park visits.

Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed
We were stopped by a guy with a clipboard, who asked if he could send me a survey via email. Maybe they are listening. We always stop and smile for the Keyhole photogs, too. They are just doing their jobs.

The bat
How cool that you met the guy who was responsible for making so much fantasy become real? And complete with artwork. Some of the things I remembered most from my visits as a kid no doubt came from this man's studio.

Losing glasses on rides
I had a pair like that in the early eighties. While motorcycling, one dropped out (we turned around and got it), and I replaced it pretty much the same way. On The Beast, I felt a little 'bip' on my cheek, and kissed that lens goodbye. Ogrmac has a good idea to get them properly fixed first, and not trust to fate like I did.

Kings Island, Sunday July 29, 2012
That is going to be a day talked about for a long time. There's nothing like riding with your dad. My mother was the hoser downer on the Viking Fury one year. Glad that didn't happen on The Vortex.

New Beast
I do love that they kept the old mill theme with The Beast. I do recall getting an order of fries to eat while waiting in line. Late teens, early twenties, and plenty inconsiderate, we would eat in line because that was the only time we sat still. It's funny that even with a pass at that age, one attacks the park like it's suddenly going to disappear. I don't know if was my younger attention span, or that the park has changed, but lines in the park used to be ungodly long. When I see people in line eating, I recall that I, myself was oblivious to the people around me, so I cut them some slack. Smoking, however, no.

What do you miss most from PKI's past?
Strangely, I miss Screamin' Demon and Cobra, though in the last year before it was taken out, the Cobra would give me grey outs. I miss the short, peppy rides like that you could alternate with the larger rides. Since I got married to a person who gets dizzy and nauseous on spinning rides, I miss some of the spinning rides that are still there. I got to see Baryshnikov practice while waiting in line on the Screamin' Demon.

The bat
Don't discount yourself so easily. The only thing keeping me from Drop Zone was the waiting to drop. So now, it's 7 seconds from the click. I won't go heart in throat crazy with the waiting. I'll now give the ride a try.

The bat
Armies of us had ridden it. It wasn't as Mary Poppinsy as FD. I recall looking sideways and being able to see down into the trees. It rocked more. There was that strange hydraulic hissing overhead, with a weird clanking. The ride was less of a bat and more like Bane's head.

7-28-12 My Final Trip for Summer
I'll keep the smoke problem in mind when I'm at Coney Mall. I didn't realize that all the middle islands were smoking sections. As a smoker, I can assure you only one smoking section is needed for the Coney Mall area. Can they make a smoking section not in the middle of the mall, where people have to pass by, but tuck it away like they do the one under the Diamondback hill? And while I'm on a roll, the area in Planet Snoopy is too close to the bathroom, where there's a constant flow of little kids. I'd like it moved to where little kids don't have to be. The smoking sections are a great courtesy, but I'd rather them not be intrusive to other guests. It defeats the purpose of having specific places for us.

Do we NEED Fast Lane passes?
To be honest, I enjoy my wait in line. There's no distractions like computers or TV to alter the conversation. Some of my best memories are laughing fits we've had waiting for a ride. But also, I'm a season pass holder, so I can bip by for a few hours a night, catch a few rides, maybe a show, and return next week for another round. KI for me is a break, not a destination, as it is in your case.

Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed
Same here! I'm glad that a decision has been made. Now we can scheme about what we'd dream up as new attractions. KingsIslandPR, thanks for forwarding the information. To be honest, I'm glad of it. The ride was difficult to explain to out of town (and country) guests.

Action Zone makeover 2013?
I feel that way, too. It lacks color because of all that pavement. It's the last section I go to, after I've been allover the park. The water tower looks kind of silly sitting out in the middle of the bare pavement. It's just not a very welcoming area. It feels like it was tacked on quickly.

A Kings Island Stretch
I love taking guests to the park because of this. How many of us have taken first time guests to this park and have them remark on the amount of trees, or have them amazed that The Beast goes so far out into the woods? I think the barrenness of Diamondback's landscape along the run is due the contrast of all the greenery around the other rides. That's actually a great idea, Hank.

Boo Blasters
I love that silly ride. I feel kind of foolish loping in there at my age, but I enjoy it. I love haunted houses and fun houses, but BooBlasters is unique with it's goofiness. Maybe it would be great to have another dark attraction somewhere else in the park. I'd love an old fashioned Bill Tracy styled walkthrough funhouse, but the first broken fingernail would pummel the park with lawsuits.

Do we NEED Fast Lane passes?
Yes, I've seen FastPass booths around the park. I've also been as lucky as DiamondBill, and this was on a Friday. I guess it depends on what else you could be doing with that thirty minutes wait time. If you don't feel like dealing with the extras of swimwear, bags, extra clothes, etc., I'd suggest forgoing the water park, as there is the Wild Water Canyon if you want to get soaked, and also a log flume ride, that's breezy and the slight mist from the water can cool you off.

Top Thrill Dragster?
Transitions Sports glasses are the best thing I ever had. I look like Rocket J. Squirrel but the rides are so much better I don't care.

Your New Area
I cannot see how dames can ride the rides with what little they have on. I was wearing a wife beater with an oxford that got easily blown off my shoulders when I rode the coasters. Sticking to the seat with your back is bad enough, but wearing shorts just tears off the back of your legs.

Flight of fear Handicapped Stair lift?
I mentioned that in my trip report. The interior is looking tired and old. It was designed during that concrete/xfiles era and right now, it looks like it's unfinished. Sad monitors, that idiotic movie playing over and over again has lost what little charm it had, dust an inch thick on all the props, and the smudgy mirror that ruins the illusion of a complete saucer. If the lights must be on, can't they jazz it up with some lighting and theming? They don't even use the whole building anymore, the queue's on the outside, and then bappo! empty space on the inside. At least put a restaurant or a shirt shop or something there.

Your New Area
I like the Congo/Lost World theme that's being discussed in threads above. Get back some of the look that was around the Cobra for a while.
