  1. This is a very disgustingly awkward topic. Sure is...onward
  2. And your life. A classmate was speeding on the road behind my house (on a motorcycle) and hit a kid that had wandered onto the road. The boy was killed. I saw him a few weeks ago and he looks like he's 70 years old. Imagine living with that every day. It scares me because I see kids darting in traffic all the time at the park.
  3. It only took one major accident, to make me like them. Well, guess it depends on the situation. Years ago one of the drivers at my company wasn't wearing his belt, got in an accident, and was ejected from the cab. Yes, he did go to the hospital for a day, but turns out a tree stump went through the cab and if he had been wearing it, he would have been impaled. That stays with me for some reason. Yes, he was fired, but he's alive. Good trade.
  4. Hate em, hate em!! I think they are restricting and actually prevent natural movement with the forces of the ride. I bet it's an insurance requirement. On Vortex, yeah, that's ok as a backup, but Troika? Complete overkill. I miss the days on Beast and Racer before belts, seat dividers and headrests. I don't even like having them in the car, but I wear it.
  5. I'm glad it's gone. It was mediocre at best, and a major pain. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sissies? Nah, the numerous injuries on the ride speaks for itself. There are some who never reported their injuries and have a permanent reminder of Son.

Thanks for sharing those pics. I always thought The Bat heads were incredible.
  7. It's an intense ride, and one I don't usually enjoy for that reason. I will only do it on a day I know my pressure is fine. I have not grayed out on any ride yet, but doesn't mean it may not happen. If you're dehydrated or hungry, you could have reactions you normally don't. Heat too-anything above 90 and I usually avoid the park. Have your blood pressure checked-I started feeling bad a few years ago and started monitoring it-after a pattern I now take medicine for it. It can really mess up your system-and for me recurring headaches tell me its creeping up.
  8. Honestly, you didn't miss anything. It was not enjoyable, with or without the loop.
  9. Bush Beast in oz ended up in a landfill if I'm not mistaken. Really, what would you do with all that lumber?
  10. I just meant if it part of it was standing in 2013. Nobody knows how long or how short of a time period it will take to remove Son of Beast except park management. Money will control most of that. I am guessing it is at least 1 million if not more, to have the ride taken down. Thats a chunk to eat for something to be removed. Things always come down faster than when they are built. I am guessing before Christmas it will be gone. Hope someone has a good idea for all that lumber. Huge cost just sitting there. Here's hoping to them using most of it for a new wood coaster that works right! I would think the lumber is useless at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if its rotten after the two wet summers we just finished, the extreme heat and dryness of this summer, and no upkeep. The only return they may get on any of it is the trains which are still sitting near the rose bowl, in the elements. Scrap metal.
  11. Glad it's going-an idea that just didn't work out. Although, the costs of demolition might not be needed with the severity of the storms today
  12. I hope so-that would be awesome!
  13. I remember now why I never post on here-too many arrogant know it alls. Have a good day.
  14. U mad bro? Be glad you can at least go to the park. I know friends that can't afford to go to the park once. Geesh, KI won't miss your business. Of course they won't. Life goes on. When you're on your own, you will understand.
  15. Hmmm, let's see if I understand this correctly. I WORK so I can't go to KI during off peak times. On the weekends and some evenings, I have seen that the park has had parking over the hill in the north lot. Hey, I'm glad they're doing so well. But the cost of admission, putting up with the crowds (mostly teens who can't even watch where they're going because they're so absorbed in that useless cell phone and those darn basketballs) well, I guess I've become too old for all this. If it's going to take that plus having to shell out half a hundred to avoid that nonsense, its just not worth it. I have a pass and have only been I think 3 times this season. I also live nearly an hour away now, and going to an environment similar to work just doesn't appeal to me. More power to ya if you have the money to blow on it. My trips in the future are probably going to be once maybe twice a year. I wish money didn't rule everything out there.
  16. And I had been burned several times from it. This is one case I was glad to see.
  17. Maybe not enough riders was the cause? Computer got confused? Just speculating.
  18. Grateful Dead-now that is an experience!
  19. Gross. I haven't been in a waterpark for years. I'm not a fan of going to the park on hot humid days for the same reason-sweat covered coaster seat, yuk!!
  20. If it were me, I wouldn't take the risk. Even if they reopen it at some point with major modifications, my fanny will not give it another chance, ever.
  21. So is Beast but it didn't send numerous people to the hospital over the years. If I was an insurance rep, there is no way I would insure that hunk of junk.
  22. I think that's a wise decision. Having been through a fire when I lived in Cali, you have to be real careful.
  23. I meant to add to the other thread that the locker prices are just plain stealing as well. Yes, that is just too darn high.
  24. This infuriates me. One thing I can't stand is a thief. I know it happens daily throughout the world, but that is my biggest peeve. I go in with as little as possible to the park or any other venue where a lot of people are gathered. It's refreshing when someone honest returns something they found or escorts a lost child to security.
