  1. Imagine how dirty Son of Beast's spot will be, after its gone. Even if you wait a few years, it'll still just be a big field. Doesn't sound very appealing as location for a wooden coaster. All I'm saying, I believe Kings Island's next coaster addition should be wooden. I just don't see Son of Beast's location as ideal...
  2. I've actually never been cut in line before at Kings Island. Six Flags Magic Mountain, line jumpers were in abundance. So, what do you do? This poll allows multiple answers.
  3. http://www.newsnet5....on-via-facebook
  4. This summer, I rode quite a few coasters I'd never ridden before. Wood: 1. The Beast 2. The Raven 3. Giant Dipper (Santa Cruz Boardwalk.) 4. Voyage 5. Blue Streak Steel: 1. Diamondback 2. X2 3. Millennium Force 4. Flight of Fear 5. Expedition Everest (I'm not including most of Cedar Point, since I haven't been there in a very long time. Even though I've ridden most every coaster there besides Maverick, I remember but a few. The same thing with Stricker's Grove, and Americana/ Lesourdesville Lake.)
  5. My first ever visit to Holiday World was yesterday. "SMALL" WOODEN COASTER (Woodies under 90ft) The Racer vs. The Raven The Raven, for sure. MILLENNIUM WOODIES (Both opened in 2000, both have "dips" before first drop!) Son of Beast vs. The Legend The Legend. SOB might of won, with its old trains, and its loop. SIGNATURE WOODIES (This one is obvious...) The Beast vs. The Voyage Voyage's back seat, this is very close. Voyage's front seat, not so much. DROP/LAUNCH RIDE Drop Tower vs. Liberty Launch RAPIDS RIDE White Water Canyon vs. Raging Rapids Didn't ride Raging Rapids. LOG FLUME Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown vs. Frightful Falls Log Flume I really, really enjoyed Frightful Falls. The pitch black tunnel is really good, and spooky! SWING RIDE Zephyr vs. Hallowswings Didn't ride Hallowswings. SPIDER/MONSTER/ETC RIDE Monster vs. PR Midnight Ride The second spinniest ride I've ever had. (Coney Island's Trabant wins first.) SCRAMBLER BATTLE KI Scrambler vs. Scarecrow Scrambler Didn't ride Scarecrow Scrambler. CAROUSEL BATTLE Grand Carousel vs. Star Spangled Carousel Didn't ride Star Spangle Carousel. TRAIN BATTLE KI & Miami Valley Railroad vs. The Freedom Train Didn't ride The Freedom Train, but did see its atmosphere. In my opinion, atmosphere is the most important part of a train ride. SHOOT-EM-UP DARK RIDES Boo Blasters vs. Gobbler Getaway Gobbler getaway left me very happily surprised. I guess Boo Blasters is more "impressive," but I like this theme better. (At least for a family friendly ride.) DODEMS Dodgems vs. Rough Riders Missed Rough Riders. KIDDIE COASTERS Great Pumpkin Coaster vs. The Howler The Howler hurt! Think of Arrow transitions, only much worse. And The Howler had no air time, whereas The Great Pumpkin Coaster has quite a bit. STAFF (Overall Performance, includes friendliness and efficency) KI Staff vs. HW Staff I've generally had very good experiences with each park, but one bad experience at KI's Haunt means KI wins. And, I know this isn't the staff's decision, but whenever Voyage broke down (twice), people in line were given a choice of going to the front of the line on either Raven, or Legend. I personally think this is wonderful. PARK "LOOKS" (Which one looks better? As in scenery, theming, cleanliness, etc etc.) Kings Island vs. Holiday World You can't easily beat the Eiffel Tower! VALUE (Get-in-price, food prices, etc etc...) Kings Island vs. Holiday World Much more affordable... And eating didn't mean bankruptcy. My Bonus Question- Waterparks Boomerang Bay vs. Splashin' Safari Both parks are incredibly busy, and have hour long lines, but Splashin' Safari is less of a concrete jungle, and has much more variety. OVERALL Tally up all the points and declare winner. Holiday World: 8 Kings Island: 5 I still say Kings Island wins, since most of Kings Island has not been included in the poll. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much Holiday World has to do. Spent the whole day doing stuff, and still missed half the Fourth of July Section, most of the Waterpark, and most of the shows. (Though, Dive was great.) I actually enjoyed Raven more than I did Voyage!
  6. Browsing about how Tomb Raider looked opening day, I found this amazing website. Many pictures, and video from opening day. http://www.tombraide...land/index.html What logo are you speaking of, Terp?
  7. But many water coasters DO coast on rails! See the Interpreter's list...
  8. Those water coasters all have railed sections, thus (in my definition) would fit being roller coasters. I could see Wildebeest as a Russian Mountain, but an American Mountain (or Roller Coaster)? Doesn't seem to fit...
  9. Sundays, Coney Island is normally not very busy, until people get out of church, at noon. I suggest getting some of the lower capacity rides done earlier in the day, as Sunday afternoons get VERY busy. Also, are you going to Sunlite Pool? I'd suggest reserving a chaise lounge, as soon as the pool area opens.
  10. But, think, what else could it be? To me, Haunt maze seems like the most reasonable option...
  11. Most days, the pool opens at 10:00, and the rides at 11:00. Click Here for Coney Island's 2010 operating calendar.
  12. Double Post.
  13. And, now Coney has canoes! Awesome for getting a good view of the island's new resident. The "Scare Pig!" ... Or getting a refreshing blast of cold water, from that rogue fountain!
  14. I'm sure Cedar Fair could get Chance, Huss, or some other company to design higher capacity versions of anything. If the price is right, that is. And who knows! Maybe some of the Linder/ CBS flat ride removals are in storage, somewhere in the park. Most of these rides did disappear off the face of the Earth... You'd think some park would've wanted them.
  15. A normal sized Giant Slide would be very inexpensive, but with its horrible capacity, Kings Island would want a larger version. These larger versions can be quite pricey, and I don't believe any are currently in production. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) The only way I could see this happening is if Kings Island still has Flying Carpet/ Scrappy's Slide in storage. (Doubtful.)
  16. I, too am going to Holiday World for the first time, but at a much closer date. (Monday the 9th.) Does anyone have advice on where to eat, where to stay, and what not to miss?
  17. Great photo collection! Snoopy Rocks On Ice looks great.
  18. Times were much different, back then. Though 'gray areas' were in abundance, human rights was not one of them. Much of Family Guy's satire comes from certain boundaries people have, over the years, placed on society. Now Family Guy tramples all of these boundaries, thus hurting the feelings of people who believe these boundaries need to be honored, while still leaving with a positive closing message. Now compare Family Guy to Woodstock, of a previous era. A lot of people's feelings were hurt, because they did not approve of the boundaries being pushed, BUT Woodstock ended with a mixed message. Woodstock actually destroyed the lives of many. (Peace, law breaking, and drug addiction...) Kings Island, with last year's publicity stunt, brought back very unpleasant memories to the families and friends of Steve McNair and Heath Ledger. In my honest opinion, this is far worse than any trampled boundary.
  19. Its generally a lose- lose situation. Either the prize is pretty much worthless, or the game is rigged. Oftentimes both. Anyone see that game, 'Super Stacker?' Many people fork over hundreds of dollars on that game, insisting that they've won once and will be able to win again. The game is rigged. I've never played before, but from countless 'watches', I know. Oftentimes, the game skips, on the top level.
  20. Earlier this summer, I took a visit to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Amazing park! The managers, at the end of the day, do a great job in getting people to come back. They lead people away from thinking the Amusement Park as an operation run by fat cat businessmen, and toward thinking as an organization run by friends and neighbors.
  21. Me? Islander. Park Enthusiast? Dark Ride Enthusiast? Yes. Industry Enthusiast? Yes. Roller Coaster Enthusiast? By no means.
  22. Interesting... Does Kings Island still have Son of Beast's old trains, in storage?
  23. But Diamondback did see the removal of swan lake... Ask yourself this question. Where has Rivertown's theme gone, since the spring of 08'?
