Holiday World 2011
Holiday World Facebook: I've just gotta say that Holiday World would do an amazing Dark Ride. My hopes.

New Kings Island Dark Ride
I would love a Dark Ride like Monster Mansion at Six Flags Over Georgia... Maybe a castle- theme, where you meet the King and the rest of the comedic royal family.

Why do people hate the Paramount Period of KI?
I've edited my first post with slightly more accurate information. Goodyellowkorn182, I'd suggest that you look through some videos on the website I posted (if you haven't yet) and (if you enjoy haunted attractions) walk through The Dent Schoolhouse. Some of those animatronics are, and I mean it, more realistic than most of the new Horror and/or Science Fiction movies I've seen. Animatronic technology has gotten to a point that 3d screens are, in many cases, less realistic. I know this sounds crazy to most people... You can't fully understand until you walk through the new- 2009 Dent Schoolhouse or any haunted house of similar quality. And, for all you Halloween Haunt fans, Massacre Manor is fun, but doesn't come anywhere close.

Why do people hate the Paramount Period of KI?
A common misconception, Dark Rides really aren't that expensive. In 1929, Pretzel Dark Rides were sold for 1,200 dollars, or an equivalent to 15,000 today. Now, keeping in mind that the companies today charge a lot and that Dark Rides are generally much longer, the price for a Dark Ride with the original Pretzel system should be less than $100,000, not including animatronics or props. Now, imagine the park wants to create a very high technology, amazing Dark Ride experience. The average extremely high tech large animatronic with many moving parts costs around 2,500 dollars. With the budget of 150,000 dollars you can may add 10 human- sized animatronics, 40 smaller animatronics, and many hundreds of immovable props. http://www.scarefactory.com/ 1 For the same price as 22 million dollar Diamondback, Kings Island could of added 12 extensive and very high quality Dark Rides, putting aside money for the upkeep, around 10 years. 1 I posted the website of this animatronic figure designer because they have some of the highest quality stuff in the business, and their website includes prices. Fun, family friendly Dark Rides are much more marketable, at least in Kings Island's case. A fun note, both The Dent Schoolhouse and USS Nightmare get props identical to these and most presumably from this company. The new ones that The Dent Schoolhouse added for the 2009 season are the very best I've ever seen. More realistic than many new Hollywood movies, even...

2012
^Tell that to Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure! The amount of publicity a park gets is decided on a number of factors. Marketability, thats one. When new attractions are interesting and advertised well, people become excited and want to go. People love to try new things. The one, I believe is much more important, is the experience that park gives. If someone has a bad experience, its likely he or she won't return. On the other hand, if someone's whole family has a superb time at what they see as reasonable prices, they will return... quite often... and tell friends. Carl Linder, Paramount, CBS and Cedar Fair. All four of these owners have gone for the big boom, only including the marketable stuff and, to cut costs, removing, cutting or not maintaining anything that they thought didn't have a decisive role towards wether or not people would want to come back. Short term, things looked better than ever. Lowering the expenses meant a rise in profit... But not for long.

WHO'S READY TO SEE A MIDGET BLEED?
I actually don't see the problem with this commercial. It very much advertises the scary content of Halloween Haunt, without trying to offend anyone. I must agree that the Midget Wrestling video is way out of hand. What are they trying to prove? Its disgusting, to say the least.

Kings Island 2010
Shows don't have to be expensive in order to be great. If you've ever seen the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, their shows use props minimally and have very inexpensive sets. Yet the great acting and well thought out production make the shows very good. Funny, too!

Kings Island 2010
Perhaps, Kings Island's shows would be more effective towards bringing visitors to the park if the general public were to know about Kings Island's show schedule? All goes back to the way Cedar Fair markets its parks...

Kings Island 2010
Personally, I think Cedar Fair has totally changed the scheme of things at the old Paramount Parks. The Paramount Parks were marketed towards whole families... Yes, they presented Kings Island towards small children, pre- teens, teenagers, young adults and middle aged adults. Now, Cedar Fair is marketing towards only small children and teenagers, presenting their parks in a way that actually drives away the average family group. (Most adults, at that... And even the children and teenagers who's family disapprove of "Kings Island's" shenanigans.) What could Cedar Fair see in this marketing strategy...?

Fontaine Ferry
For those of you who didn't have the chance to experience the classic Amusement Park... Very comparative to how Coney Island of Ohio appeared, in the early days.

Flight Deck Possibly Broken? Your Opinion?
Yes, the cars can swing a full 180 degrees without hitting the supports. The clearance is too great.

Paramount Pictures: New Paramount Park In Spain
Interesting... How large would a park with 20,000 workers be in comparison to *Paramount's* Kings Island?

Kentucky Kingdom
It just irks me that Ed Hart plans on using state funding to compete with parks in other cities. If he were to borrow money for a city- wide park I'd understand, but this gives Kentucky Kingdom an entirely unfair advantage over Amusement Parks in other states. (Ie. He's planning on taking visitors away from Ohio and Indiana, using taxpayer dollars.) Also, there are more sure opportunities of investment towards creating jobs.

kings Island Apperal
Anyone else find it bizarre that such a well designed, sharp- looking shirt is being sold for such a low price? Remember, not too long ago Nickelodeon stuff was for sale, much of it 50% off.
-
Kentucky Kingdom
Should this be passed, I will never go to Kentucky Kingdom under the leadership of Ed Hart. Such an utter waste of taxpayer dollars. Trying to improve your state's economy by purposely hurting the surrounding states is just wrong. Though, you've got to admit Ed Hart's done his share of weaseling around to even get this considered. (I'd commend him if I weren't so against it.)

Things Get...Interesting...At Flags
I find it intriguing how much of a focus the "History" page puts on the theme in Six Flags parks... http://investors.six...rol-homeprofile In the whole reading, no single mention to any of the thrills Six Flags has to offer.

Clydesdales To Visit Cedar Point Sunday
My Great Great Grandfather introduced this breed to the United States. We bred the horses and sold them to circuses! Sounds like a fun event.

So, what Amusement Park stuff do you like to collect? Any esecially neat items in your collection?

Too Loud at the Park?
Reminds me of my visit to Universal Studios Hollywood... The Revenge of the Mummy had very loud machinery in the queue room. And with the five train stack up, you have to sit directly over that said noisemaker for about three and a half minutes. (It hurt your ears!)

Responsibility in Information Posting
I hear you there. Homework at Walnut Hills High School is unbearable. I've been forfeiting sleep time for KICentral, Dafe, park blueprinting, and whatever else I find productive towards getting a career in the field... Actually, I've been getting (more or less) 6 hours of sleep every school night. But I've been happy, keeping good grades, and having new ideas, so life is great! As for KICentral, people have been rather insufferable, lately. A few things I'd keep in mind: When someone posts something against the Terms of Service, the first member to reply should have the right to correct them. Whole pages commenting on a single post... People get fired up and mean to each other. Must I say irrational thought takes place? Respect should be given to every poster, no matter his or her history. Every single member has the ability to keep this a positively wonderful place. (Yes, that means you! ) Edit: Wise words from a significant poster on this site... Teachable moment? That makes two of us. Not saying anyone in this thread has done anything wrong (no one has), but one of the reasons I long prefered KIExtreme to KICentral was that, despite being a smaller community (and one that is frequented by small post counts) I never felt "stupid." You'll notice that I "joined" five years ago (just like Miss Molly), though my post count doesn't reflect that. It's because, every time I decided to post here, for the first 100 posts or so, everyone most people some people treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about and I was useless. My post quality has remained the same; only my quantity has increased. And now, I'm no longer treated like an idiot (and a few lost souls out there may actually respect some of the things I have to say). So was it just because I was new? Not fair, and not conducive to creating a lively, fresh, interesting discussion board. There are little details that simply come with time as you grow and adapt to a new board - for example, if Miss Molly hangs around til she gets 500 posts, her topic titles will not be as long; she will bump a thread instead of starting a new one; these are things that one must learn (and be taught) and do not come naturally. I plead with you all to be accepting of new members and to try to make them feel welcome. Everyone (yes, everyone) started with 1 post. And how different would this place be had The Interpreter, or coaster_junky, or CincyMan98, or Beast1979, or standbyme been so offended by their intial treatment, that they did not return? Who knows if we've lost incredible contributors just because we were not welcoming? It's a shame... To answer your question (as others have, but I'll verify), yes, your pass will get you into Halloween Haunt. At Kings Island, the Halloween event is not a separately ticketed event - you can come during the day, and stay into the evening when the "festivities" begin at no extra charge. Not all Cedar Fair parks offer that, but Kings Island's does. Goodyellowkorn182, this site wouldn't be the same without you. I, and I'm sure many other people look forward to your posts. KirkSheppard, I hope your time on KICentral has improved completely since your first few weeks of posting. And great new site, by the way! I do not go to Kings Island very often, so barely ever have the pleasure to experience any part of Kings Island's entertainment sector. Most fan sites seem to shy away from discussing their home park's entertainment. In conclusion, as The Interpreter has said, "Things are more like they are now than they were when I got here." So very true...

Kings Island's next coaster
I'd say the next coaster should be a family coaster. Particularly about one with Diamondback style hills, with The Beast styled terrain zooming. (There's a certain model I have in mind that would be perfect, but can't recall its name.) // I'd expect the next coaster addition to be B&M... Likely inverted or floorless.

Or they could add some sort of park transportation system, just about eliminating the problem.

Regular Season Passes Gone for 2011?
Well... There goes my chances toward getting a season pass!
