Do You Watch The Shows?
I find it amazing that so many users have stuck around for so long. Most of the posts from 2002 are from people who still post today! Can you believe they've been coming to this site for 18 years now? I'm on my 13th year. To answer the question: I don't think I have ever watched any of the shows. When I'm there I'm focused solely on getting on as many coasters as I can. Guess I need to drop in and watch a few this coming season.

Quick (Jungle Jim's/Kings Island) Monorail Update
I worked at Jungle Jims for SIX years and saw it run maybe three times. It was very slow and it made loud animal noises haha. Did it do that when it ran at KI? I definitely feel like that's something Jungle added.

Locals concerned that Kings Island is violating noise ordinances
I think it might do you some good to actually read the article haha. One person interviewed for this article state that their home was built and has lived in it prior to Kings Island opening. To me, I think it’s fair for anyone that lived there before KI opened to complain about noise. Anyone else, no.

Disney Skyliner Crash/Rescue
^ the vehicles did slam into each other in one of the stations. Glass is broken. I don’t know if there were people in the vehicles. Heres a short clip from twitter:

Six Flags Entertainment (SIX) in Bid to Acquire Cedar Fair L.P. (FUN) - Reuters
I know nothing of the topic, but maybe someone here does. Would this cause an issue with becoming a monopoly? The only competitors to a merger like this would be Universal and Disney. They would own over 30 parks in the US.

Six Flags Entertainment (SIX) in Bid to Acquire Cedar Fair L.P. (FUN) - Reuters
People who remember the sale of Paramount Parks to Cedar Fair: how did that go down? I was only 11 at the time and barely remember it. I’m curious about how people felt and did we know CF was interested before the parks were purchased?

Six Flags Entertainment (SIX) in Bid to Acquire Cedar Fair L.P. (FUN) - Reuters
I completely agree. It sounds dramatic, but I couldn’t watch the park I love become a SIX park. I love to compare the differences between SF Great America and CGA. Two similar parks built by the same people, one now owned by six and one CF. The differences are stark.

Oh, no. Oh god, NO. What is happening to KI and CF?!? Please let this fall through

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
My initial reaction was a bit over dramatic... I respect CF and KI for the decision, I’m certain there’s a very good and legitimate reason to close the ride. I got to go yesterday to get a few final rides. Looking forward to the future of that part of Coney Mall.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
The idea of this makes me sad. Let’s hope they aren’t on the chopping block too. Feels like we’re on Survivor now

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
I wonder why they chose to make this such a small announcement? Firehawks was so highly publicized with the funeral, hashtags, media buildup. Why did they announce this so non-chalantly?

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Cedar Fair, you have a DUTY to honor Vortex like this! Not being too serious, but I would LOVE to see something like this done for Vortex. This is Corkscrew’s corkscrew (lol) at the entrance to Alton Towers, image from rollercoaster.fandom.com

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
I think a lot of us aren’t mad at the fact it is being removed. It is the sudden, early morning announcement coupled with the fact that Orion is coming next year, essentially confirming that nothing will replace it for years to come. I think everyone agrees that it is old, rickety, and rough, and it was due to be *replaced* soon. I think that the decision to remove it without a replacement (again, Orion basically confirms no other coasters coming soon) is upsetting most of us. Who knows, maybe they’ll surprise all with a “real” giga for 2021
-
Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
This is exactly why I’m confused. They JUST removed a coaster, and they’re removing another the next year? At least let it go through next season. Something is weird about this, and I don’t like it. Hopefully this isn’t a trend, like Paramounts “updating” of the park and removing classics.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
My issue is that a new, high dollar attraction announcement for Vortex’s replacement is not expected like many expected for Firehawk. I guess we can hope for a Coney expansion, but I doubt we will see anything for a couple years.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
I understand that the area won’t be vacant for long and I do understand the reasoning behind it’s removal, however, we are getting Orion for next year. That land will probably stay vacant for 3-5 years before another coaster is put there. Unless they plan on some unexpected expansion of Coney Mall. Firehawk was off the beaten path and it’s presence isn’t really missed. Vortex has a large presence and it will be missed.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
I’m aware, Firehawk was never as popular/iconic and in my opinion as fun as Vortex. Next!

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
I’m completely saddened and disappointed by this news. Two coasters gone in two years? What are they thinking? Especially as one as iconic and beautiful as Vortex. I could see them announcing its removal for a new coaster, but to announce it without a replacement... This just sounds wrong. I’m very curious why they want to remove it without replacement. Honestly kind of makes me lose respect for KI and CF, no matter how silly it seems.

Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
For me it’s personal Facebook friends, various FB posts from news pages, YouTube and tweets. I did not expect a lot of the reactions I see. I def expected it from enthusiasts, but seeing the GP point out things that enthusiasts see is surprising. You’re right though, most comments are just tags of other people, so I assume they’re excited. Just not the reactions I expected.

Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
Giga isn’t a B&M term I believe, Fury and Leviathan are listed as Hypers, but Millie is Giga. Guess it has to be Intamin to be considered a giga. We’re ALL wrong :p
-
Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
Thank you so much for this hahaha I think a majority of the coaster community can agree that a giga can be defined by either: - being 300-399 feet tall OR - being less than 300 feet tall, but having a 300-399 foot drop

Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
I really wish we could all come together and get excited about the new coaster instead of being upset about it’s height. I personally don’t think it matters at all. The drop is 300 feet and it seems forceful with cool elements. I haven’t stopped thinking about it tbh, I am just excited to get to ride it next year! I also can’t wait to see what they do with Area 72. I am really hoping to see FoF get cleaned up, I can’t say that enough lol.

Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
I thought the same thing, but getting on other social platforms this morning, I’ve seen a whole lot of the GP saying they’re confused on why it’s not Beast Unleashed or why it looks like a blue Diamondback. I am totally pumped for the ride, and I was excited today see some positive reaction to it today, but I’ve seen so much negativity surrounding it that it’s made me a little upset honestly.

Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
Waking up this morning and reading a vast majority of people being disappointed in the ride has made me kind of sad. Not here, but on YT, Twitter and Facebook. It kind of worries me that CF made a mistake. I’ve seen countless people disappointed that it’s not “Beast Unleashed”. Let’s hope this doesn’t reflect poorly in pass sales and attendance

Decoding 2020
It really has been a TON of fun watching everyone decode. I was never really actively participating in this conversation, but I read it every single day. It really feels like a special day! I am so excited for the announcement and I hope everyone that is there has a great time. Thanks for the discussion!
