Theres ways around all of that, terrain can be changed, flat rides can be moved around, paths can be moved. Cedar Point is known for doing A LOT of this when they build a new ride, it wouldnt be difficult to do some of the same stuff at Kings Island.

Well right now the public is more anxious to hear what is coming next year from KD because of the HUGE speculation about Dominator going there.

Not at all, something a little more creepy, along the lines of the themeing for Dollywoods new "Mystery Mine"

The Racer re-invented wooden roller coasters, its a landmark in the history of roller coasters, AND it was featured in an episode of the Brady Bunch so it should NEVER go away! Also there is no reason to tear down one ride to build another, KI has TONS of land outside what is currently developed.

I havnt heard officialy yet, but the one at Kings Dominion IS officially being replaced for next summer, so I assume the same would prob happen at KI.

I agree its not a bad ride, but theres nothing special about it.

U know what they could do, retheme the outside building a little bit as well as the inside, re-program it and call it, runway mine.

SOB is just such a pain, why dont they just tear it down already and sell pieces of it in the giftshop for $5/ea id buy one.

Yeah KI is just slower at loading and unloading for some reason.

I agree, im pretty sure the whole reason they got the paramount parks was so Kinzel could get his hands on KI!

I post regularly on GLToday now as well as here and 90% of the posters there are convinced that Cedar Fair is going to sell KI because it is a threat to Cedar Point. Just thought i should say something, I can't believe how ignorant people are.

I guess Im at a toss up now, a few of you made some good points for G-Trains so i guess all we can really do is just wait til next year and see what happens and if they do replace the trains, yes I will be sad, but ill still give The Beast a chance with them. Ive also been looking on other forums such as GLToday and a lot of people there have made some good points for the trains as well.

It was caused by a hot bolt that landed on the roof durring removal of the track directly above.

Think they did that cause they knew they would be moving it? And Michigan is in such desperate need of a coaster CF figured they wouldnt have to do anything with it. Where as Dominator is prob gonna get a new name, new paint job and maybe even a little themeing? So CF never worried about painting it, but if CF did some of the work while GL was still standing it looked like they still cared?

I do think it's kind of funny that they are not changing the name, the logo, or re-painting it. Usually if all 3 are done everyone thinks its a new ride, it's going to look exactly the same so there will be a lot more of the general public that knows its used. I mean GL re-painted Texas Twister last year and there were guests that thought it was a brand new ride!

From what I hear the trains are in the old fireworks launching area.

Technically, I guess it's named after the 1994 movie staring Wesley Snipes called (surprise, surprise) "Drop Zone" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109676/ However, there's absolutely no themeing or storyline to even come close to tying the movie in with a themed ride. Face Off (opened the samed year as DZ) is even worse when it came to tying the ride into a movie theme. They could have named either one "Titanic" and the ride themeing wouldn't have been any more disconnected. Not completly true, there used to be a movie poster outside the q-line. That counts as some themeing right?

But how would it change the ride experience?

Six Flags hasnt been doing too good in the whole positive media coverage this summer.
