  1. in my opinion, just free admission to the park on almost all operating days is enough. But, when I was a gold pass holder, I most often took advantage of the 'two for tuesdays' deal and the 'bring a friend free days'. I currently look down upon the latter, because it crowds the park to unbelievable proportions, and some people would have to wait over two hours to ride Delirium, because the line is going into Festhaus.
  2. ^ Amen. I can't say how many times I've been ticked off because the fog wasn't working at pre-show(and I couldn't do my whole,'walk slowly through the fog' thing to scare the guests), or the bulb on the projector blew out.
  3. I think not. Pki is a great family park, but I can't see them being competition for Cedar Point.
  4. That will never die will it Come on guys, that was in June! Most of us still resent it.
  5. ^yeah, sneaking it past the 'bar monkeys' doesn't make the situation any better.
  6. I will truly miss pkiu, but if it hadn't been for Ryan and Chef introducing themselves to me on my second day working at Delirium, I wouldn't have even known the existance of pki fan sites.
  7. The original script worked for me, and I didn't have to download it into my hard drive. The eagles video was pretty cool- it even shows our last few desperate attempts to save the ride.
  8. You guys did an awesome job! I especially liked the new layout. Easy to read and navigate.

I voted AZ, because it is in dire need of a paint job on almost all of it's rides. And Delirium needs to be re-decalled.
  10. Well, it's a good thing that I take Economics AP. In fact, this past week we talked about equal distribution of wages. Think of it this way, if one paramount park raises it's wages(for all employees), then they all have to, because they are a part of the Viacom corporation. No one park is separate. Sure, deriving the supply curve for wages (imperfectly competitive) points out that you will recieve more employees if you offer more money. But is that economically efficient for Viacom if they do offer more money for all of their parks? Then they would have to make up for the lost profit by charging a higher price for tickets. Also- the law of diminishing marginal returns shows why the marginal cost curve slopes downward. Once pki reaches it's profit maximization point, it has no where to go but down, because with every unit of more employees added, they produce at a lesser quality and quantity. (for example: if we had six people checking bars on one side of racer, you may have to wait longer for dispatch, because either these people weren't trained well enough, or they just plainly can't work together efficiently.) More people to train + less time to train them = poorly trained employees.
  11. Can I have my post count (and past posts if possible) switched over, too?
  12. What were your overall thoughts on this season? I had a great time working beside people who care about pki as much as I do. Being there from dawn until dusk nearly everyday during the summer and fall gave me something fun to do and left me with the greatest stories I could ever tell. Everything I ever wanted, I got from pki- friends, tan, (weight loss), a social life, and a bazillion nicknames. What was your favorite attraction this year?(Hi Matt!) Has to be a combination of Delirium, Slingshot, Beast, Scooters, and TRTR. I really can't pick one ride- but those are my favorite rides to work and ride in the whole park. (32!!!!)(inside joke) What's the biggest surprise you received from PKI this year?Lots of stuff: I knew tiques was getting removed, but I didn't forsee Scooters leaving, too. I also didn't think that they would bring back Days of Thunder. -then I didn't think they'd take it away that quickly, either. What are you most looking forward to next year?Another wonderful season with the rides department!!! Meeting all the pki fanatics all over again, and hanging out with my employee friends. What was your best park experience this year?(see blog) There are many. I can't possibly name them all. How could've the 2004 season improve? Not coming out with 'Magic of the Movies Live'. That show stank on ice.
  13. The answer to that is simple. We are concerned more with safety and guest satisfaction than anything else. As with almost everything, safety is our number one priority. We take a little bit more time, just to make sure that you are safe, and the the ride ops who check seats don't die of exhaustion. Safety is our commitment- Service is our passion.
  14. I have conquered pki many times. Joe- man, you were funny when you got tilted back!
  15. And cars one, two, and three have pki's logo on the inside of the mystery machine.

Actually, they offer positions in food, games, merchandice, and character escorts for 15 year olds. In my opinion, you should wait until you're 16 for the better jobs to open up. Join rides! It's fun!
  17. When it comes to defunct rides, now that I think of it: -I was scared out of my wits when I rode flight commander with my dad, and I begged him not to flip the car over. I was seven at the time. -after much coaxing from my mom, I finally rode sky lab with my dad, and loved it! -watching that game show in the festhaus when they had it. It involved putting velcro suits on people, sticking them to a pizza-looking thing, and people putting toppings on them. It was very amusing. -breakfast with the characters(I still have pictures of this)when boo-boo, scooby, fred flintstone, and other characters came and posed while we took pictures in the All-star cafe. -I couldn't tell the difference between kckc and flume, they were both next to Beast. -My parents posing with Klingons from star trek when they walked around the park. -Action 180 theater. Everyone in my family hated it. -I remember seeing a musical lazer show in the paramount theater. That was pretty cool, and it smelled like sulfur afterwards. -my first year seeing pki (I think I was seven), Days of Thunder (the motion movie) was a huge thing. I really wanted to ride it because pki made a huge deal out of it. I was just barely tall enough to ride it, but it was my favorite ride in the park that year. -always wanting to ride Dino or Jabber Jaws on the HB carousel. -Posing for pictures in the busytown cars. My fav was the banana-shaped car. -thinking I was going to fall into the blue elephant fountain.
  18. Jeff has a point. There are a bunch of rides in the park that have very slow cycle times, and there would be no comparing one ride's popularity to another if we only went by hourly or even daily capacity. The answer's simple; the line's just too long. With pay-per-rides like DOT, Slingshot, and Skyflyer, however, you can measure by profit and not capacity. Because, let's face it, the most amount of cycles I could get in on SS(with the new cut-off points) this year in one hour is 13, which totals to 26 riders in one hour. If we went by capacity, SS wouldn't be anything compared to something with a larger and faster capacity, like Tower.
  19. -my first ride was the viking fury. -my first coaster was Adventure Express- where I got really scared when I saw the skeleton with the spear, that I kept my eyes closed(and still do) the entire ride. -my grandma was so afraid of The Beast that she took me to ride the antique cars about a dozen times while my dad and grandpa rode The Beast. -me refusing to ride king cobra, getting forced on it, then hating it afterwards. -me making the ride ops groan at King Cobra, because they had to keep adjusting my seat. -When I got turned down from riding FOF, because I was too short. (the cursed height stick got me!) -Around 6th grade, I got so completely obsessed with pki and roller coasters after riding Beast and Vortex for the first time.

Hablo, have you been there at night? OMG- it doesn't matter who is driving, someone is pumping up the station. Of course, whenever I try it at Delirium, I get the microphone unplugged. I second tiny's notion. AZ is a hard place to be, but hey, I got a nice tan thanx to the metal cheese-grater floors.
  21. I think this is possible, unless they come up with some pretty good shows soon. The ones they are putting on now are *censored*. "My life as a Teenage Robot," "the new Rugrats + All Grown Up," "Danny Phantom," "Jimmy Neutron," "U Pick Live," etc. The only good shows they have now are SBSP and some episodes of "the Fairly Oddparents," though most of them are kinda weak. They need shows like the ones we grew up with "the old Rugrats"--with humour even for adults, to a lesser degree--"Doug," the always controversial "Ren & Stimpy," before it went the way of the real SNL, Nick's own SNL, "All That," and the other fine SNICK program, "Are you Afraid of the Dark?" Yeah, I remember those shows. Don't forget "salute your shorts", "pete and pete", "wild and crazy kids", "double dare", "clarissa explains it all", and the other ones you mentioned. They didn't have a lot of cartoons to begin with. But their shows certainly did appeal to teens and pre-teens. Only a few of them play on the new noggin, called "the N".
  22. hmm... Slingshot?
  23. Yep. Did you notice the hats and visors hanging from the trees, too? There are about 4 or 5 total, on a few different trees.
  24. I got this one during hell week- "Where and when is the dolphin show?" and this one a few weeks ago when a guest was staring at SOB while in line for Delirium.- "Is SOB wooden?"
