  1. The Son of Beast is still worth riding even though the loop is gone. Cedar Fair doesn't like wooden coasters in general. Cedar Point only has 2 wooden coasters and they aren't as good as KI woodies. I want Son of Beast to reopen soon. KI isn't the same without it.
  2. I have a KI Maxx Pass Plus which I bought last Fall. I got All Ohio Parking added to my pass and I had to get it at KI because Cedar Point and Geauga Lake wouldn't add a sticker to a KI card that was already processed. They need to work out some problems with their system and add computers at the entrences and parking booths like KI has.
  3. Ryan's Steak House/Buffet on Route 250 has good variety of food. Diana's has good food on Route 250, Chinese places on Route 250, East Of Chicago has good food, and the Midway Market buffet at CP has good food also.
  4. Who told you that GL was sold to PARC Management? All I heard was Darien Lake, Elitch Gardens, Fronteir City and Wild Waves were sold to them. It looks from the website for Darien Lake they have added alot of new shows to the park and made some improvements. I can't wait to visit this summer in July.
  5. I have heard that Steel Venom is going to Dorney Park. The ride was closed last season alot due to mechanical reasons. I have heard that Dorney Park has installed power lines already for next season. When I was GL this week they were taking down the loading station and only a small straight section of track remains.
  6. I would like to see the floorless coaster stay in Ohio because it's the longest and it's a great coaster. I think they (CF) will remove the Head Spin and Thunderhawk coaster from the park before Dominator. Dominator is the only good steel coaster left at the park and I feel if they loose this coaster they will kill business even more.
  7. I have a Maxx Pass Plus card this year and due to the cost of gas I have only been to CP, GL, and KI this year so far. I have a trip planned for July to the East coast to visit some parks I haven't been to yet. Does anyone know the price of gas in Conn., Mass., and N.Y.?
  8. Any pictures of the new trains? Will it be open by the end of the month? I'm going down to KY at the end of month and I want to ride the SOB as soon as possible. I have Son of Beast withdrawal.
  9. Just a side note because they blamed the accident on rain now they won't run any coasters in the rain not even a drizzle. The rainy day was the best time to ride in my opinion because the lines were short. I hope we don't get alot of rain this season.
  10. How can you say that about SFKK? They have some good coasters at this park. The parks they sold are the armpits of the chain IMO. I've been to most of the SF parks except Calif., Texas, and Mass. And I tell people to visit them and positive things about the park not negative things.
  11. Six Flags was wrong to sell GL in my opinion. They had a great park which offered alot of variety for their guests. The animals were great for the park and you could see alot of things in a day. It was alot more fun when SF owned it. GL now just has rides and water slides and a few shows without animals. Face it when CF got rid of the animals they lost alot of people's interest and now the people won't come back because they are angry over it.
  12. I rode Maverick twice this visit and it's a great coaster. The launch tunnel is great and the twists and turns are disorienting. The scenery and theming is great on this coaster. This coaster is in my Top 5 for the park now. You have to ride it when you visit. I only had to wait about an hour and half when I went. I hope you enjoy the coaster.
  13. The sketches look great for the new water park/amusement park. I hope to visit it next year depending on how the pricing is done.
  14. How can you say they should tear it down. It is one of the record breaking wooden coasters in the world. KI needs to have a few wooden coasters for variety. This is one of the reasons I visit KI because of the good wooden coasters. I think KI needs to add a few coasters to be full scale theme park but I think Paramount would have added them for competiton. Now that CF owns them I think we will see less coaster installations in the USA.
  15. cstrwomann replied to KI-ORIG-EMP's topic in Rumors
I would like to see the camp grounds return to KI also. I now stay at Cesar Creek when I go to KI and there are others around KI but I liked it at KI because it was close to the park and they would shuttle you to the park also. I hope it returns in the next few years.
  16. The parks they have left are the money makers for the company. Six Flags is a good company that has alot of good parks and coasters they just expanded too quickly and added too much new stuff in each park without getting out of debt first. I hope they can improve this year. I visited 3 SF parks last year and they were great. The closest SF park to Ohio now is Kentucky which is a good park but they need a hyper coaster like Superman or Goliath to draw more people to the park.
  17. I would like to see KI or CP get Dominator so we still have a floorless coaster in Ohio. The other steel coasters I like but I wouldn't miss them as much because they are at CP /KI already. I don't think they will close in 08' until they move out the coasters. Maybe GL will get more business and not close. This is what I'm hoping for anyway.
  18. I rode it when it was at GL it's a fun ride but not worth waiting 4 hours for. I'll ride it when they get both sides running and more trains running. When it ran at GL it ran 4 trains now they are only using 1 train. Too long of a wait in my opinion.
  19. I'm not bashing or putting down GC or Wings Buffet. I liked them both but I feel that Wings could offer more for the price. CP has a buffet and it has carved meats on it and real plates and silverware. Wings you eat off of paper plates and they use plastic silver ware.
  20. I don't think GL will be adding any new coasters to a park that is failing in attendence. I predict that Dominator, Head Spin, Thunder Hawk, Double Loop, and the children's coaster will be leaving and going to other CF parks and hopefully the woodies can be saved and shipped elsewhere. I predict that the property will be sold for real estate because they have too much land (700 acres). I hope this doesn't happen but the attendence on Memorial Day was terrible. Every ride was a walk on and I got to ride everything twice and I was only there 4 hours.
  21. I think the new ride for 2008 will be the new and improved loopless Son of Beast if they use the same name. Technically since they took the loop out they could call it something new then it wouldn't have a bad reputation any longer. I have rode Gerstaler trains before and they are ok but I prefer more padding.
  22. I predict that a big B&M floorless coaster will come to KI in 2009 from another park in Ohio. Maybe a water park attraction next year or a flat ride.
  23. I ate at Wings Diner in April it's below Golden Corall quality. The prices are higher also and not alot of variety. They charged $14.99 for hamburgers, chicken, pasta, and other items, salads, and a few desserts but no ice cream. I would suggest the buffet off of 71 North at exit 69 on Fri/Sat they have Steak/Seafood for $10.99 and a very good selection of other items.
  24. You just got Firehawk and you're not owned by Paramount anymore so money has to be shared among other parks in the USA. Keep this in mind and be patient. If they take another ride out GL maybe you'll get it again.
  25. It sounds like he's not happy with acquiring GL. He said the attendence is down (700,000) people and doesn't need big coasters. He also said the focus will be mostly water park at GL. What other coasters are we going to loose? He also mentioned Son of Beast as not getting alot of recognition since it opened. Are we going to loose Son of Beast? Does he make decisions for the company? He also mentioned that season passes might change again next season.
