I suspect that a 100 percent perfect re-creation of either would disappoint us all. Times have changed, the world has moved on. Our memories have burnished and improved what was.

I tell myself this as I yearn for a Racer that runs as I remember it running in 1972. I had only The Shooting Star and Camden Park's Big Dipper to compare it to.

Now, more than 125 wooden coasters later, I doubt my opinion would be the same...

You are right. Perhaps a bigger better version of either ride using modern technology. Maybe a spinning car version of Shooting Star and 90 vertical drop version of Lost River. Both with nostalgic stations so we can ride and also remember the good old days.

 

The last ride constructed prior to the park opening in 1972 was Winnie Witches Cauldrons. A spinning teacup type ride, the attraction operated for 20 seasons before it was retired after the 1991 season. #KingsIsland

Perhaps all of these nostalgic photos are a preview of their 45th anniversary in 2017. Hopefully it'll be like Kings Dominion's.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't KI tied with he most inverted coasters now along with Dorney Park? They each have 3, KI with Banshee, Flying Ace, and Invertigo, Dorney with Talon, Possessed, and Stinger

Scanning these pictures for my friend Harry.

It appears as though the game shed across from the train station has been razed to make room for the new relocated funnel cake building.

A little speculation here, but to me it looks like the concrete poured here looks way to big to fit just that new soccer game. Could we see a large Rivertown expansion with a new railroad crossing like at Cedar Point by Rougarou?

Man,  the park really is changing.  just in the past 3 years they have done a lot!  We are now 75 more days till opening day,  still a ways away.

Kings Island has just confirmed on Instagram that they are building a tunnel on Woodstock Express, and a new White Water Canyon entrance, explaining the construction in Rivertown.

All I saw them say was track work on Woodstock Express. Someone /else/ said tunnel, nothing official.

No such confirmation was made by the park on Instagram. A photo was posted about track work on the ride. There is a temporary plastic covering in the area where the carpenters are working on the ride this winter.
