CP After Hours Event
This was my thought too. The event itself seems nice but not worth the ticket price. A handful of rides and entertainment for 3 hours isn't enough for $99. At that price point I feel like a certain amount of alcohol and food should be included. I was really curious about it until I saw the price point. It sounds like parking isn't even free for attendees as some of the more expensive ticket options include parking with it. For $15 less (+ parking cost) I can buy a ticket that gets me admission for the entire day, parking, and all day dining. So essentially I could buy one bundle ticket and a regular ticket, split food, and be able to get my DH and I into the park for the entire day for the cost of one person to go for 3 hours at night with limited options. I will be curious to see how this event goes and what sort of changes they make for future ones. I like the concept of it but the price point just isn't there.

Fox 19: Plaintiffs land key victory in suit against Kings Island owner over 2020 season passes
I agree the additional season was a good benefit to add that I'm sure many benefitted from, but there were likely a few that didn't. Either had other 2021 plans that made it to where they couldn't get out to the park that year, or even if it was a matter of someone that was uncomfortable being out in crowds like that through the time period. Even if the legalese when buying the passes protects the park, it would be good customer service to provide the option.

Cedar Point puts up construction walls near Wicked Twister's plot
My hope is for a modern woodie. Large scale coasters can get considered family coasters too. Look at Cheetah Hunt where it is large with a few launches and an inversion and is considered a family coaster. With the boardwalk area I think a modern wooden coaster would make a great fit for the theme and be something that CP doesn't have.

What would you like changed to KI in the next five years?
They could even go the Disney route and sell special dinner or dessert packages to go with fireworks shows as well. Could become a great money making venue for them.

is track bending this strong normal?
Yea they sway and bend like that to prevent stress on the metal causing splits.

Which coaster needs a repaint the most?
Well Racer got it's repaint and looks great. Hopefully next offseason they will repaint Diamondback. I feel like it sticks out the most of any of the others as well due to it's size making it even more noticeable how faded it has gotten. I like the striking visual of the yellow supports but wonder if it would be better to just make them tan like the rest so it isn't as noticeable in the future when the yellow fades.

Regarding the Son of Beast Station
I feel like nowadays they could build them better. All of those coasters were from the 90's (2000 opening for SoB but designed in the 90s). Designs have gotten much better and have been longer lasting with coasters like Wodan and Voyage topping out above 120' just fine. They might need to supplement some steel with the supports to make it sturdier as I do agree an entirely wooden structure isn't strong enough for the massive heights, I believe this is what the Voyage did as well. And with us having a decent collection of wooden coasters right now I don't feel we need another right away but I wouldn't mind seeing KI get a Gravity Group/GCI coaster like Voyage and a ground up RMC to really cement us as the wooden coaster capital with having all types. Our current collection is great with the classic out and back racing family coaster, unique thrill coaster, modern woodie, and kid's/family starter coaster. But if we could add an intense hybrid and a tall, "out-of-control" out and back like Voyage with possibly a twister type section on the back end then we would hit all areas.

Repurposing the Lion Country Safari Land
I feel that with the size of the area a new land would be best. The biggest concerns for it I think would be getting a path back to there and the cost of opening an entire new land. Imagine it would go like Area 72 where it might start as a subsection on AZ before becoming it's own area. Though hopefully they do a flat ride package to get more stuff there quicker. Start with a signature coaster to draw people back to it, then a few flats to flesh it out.

Kings Island Flat Rides Possibilities with Possible Locations
Always thought a Top Scan would be great for Action Zone, but I could see it going well in Area 72 as well.

Think we will see teasing in 2022?
This is what I am expecting too. We could definitely use more flat rides as well more than coasters at the moment. As mentioned since we recently got a major coaster I don't see that as our next addition, but coudl see either a major flat ride or a smaller ride package for next year. This can be constructed fairly quickly and don't require tons of ground work, so they can hold off on construction until later in the season, or all off season, and not need to tease it through the year. With it being the 50th I expect focus will be on that all season and then in the fall they will tease/announce an addition for next year. I could see a potential new coaster for the next year as it would be 4 years since Orion at that point, but wouldn't be surprised if there isn't one until 2025.

Regarding the Son of Beast Station
I agree. It would probably need too much work and would limit them, even if only minimally, on layouts. Given how long it has sat there unused besides Haunt I feel it would probably need too much work to reuse for something as intensive as a coaster station and as you mentioned there is nothing special about the station itself to make it worth keeping. I do however think that they would easily build something there with both Bat and Banshee if they wanted, Bat gets pretty low at that turnaround so you could easily have a lift hill go over it and then have a break run/return track come back between Bat and Banshee. This layout could still work even with the SoB station. As for The Vortex station, I do wish they had kept it as it was iconic. I hope that if they do build a new coaster there they recreate the station building or something similar to it.

The mill wheel is back!
I didn't hate it but preferred the classic look for Rivertown better. Right now the worst part to me is the @d character board at the final turn. And for the longest time there was random lawn furniture just sitting there too that looked terrible. Would love to see that removed and the water expanded to the trough. With Mystic Timbers themed to a logging company though it could get a cool Lumber Mill tie in theme that could be very cool.

Which parks do you plan to visit in 2022?
We have had a lot that we debated traveling to, but so many rumors for 2023 additions I'm trying to hold off on them so we don't miss something huge next year and not make it again for awhile (Holding off on Carowinds and Knott's for now) The one for sure is Six Flags Great America. Might try to hit up some combination of Kings Island, Cedar Point, Hersheypark, and/or Dollywood.

2022 Entertainment Lineup Announced
Very curious to see this show. Hopefully it is good. I do miss the Cirque shows though, hope they come back eventually.

Action Zone retheme?
Yea I could see it not returning, but that always seemed to be a big counterpoint to removing the theatre period, that this design gives us a new stage and leaves open the ability ot have it back in some form too while being able to utilize the space better. Kind of the best of both worlds.
-
Action Zone retheme?
I like this idea overall. Never really thought about keeping the Timberwolf stage but I like that idea. It still opens up most of the Timberwolf area for development but keeps the stage for shows and they could still do Spirit Song with the bands just playing in a standing room only area kind of like Universal Orlando does their concerts.

New Kings Island Dark Ride
I would love to see more dark rides added to parks. I always think they're fun plus it gives another indoor attraction to escape the heat or rain. Ideally I would like to see Kings Island have at least 2. I'd retheme Boo Blasters into an interactive Peanuts ride. The ride is basically in Planet Snoopy as is and it would give another good family ride to the kids area to help them reclaim the title. Kids probably really enjoy the interactive aspect a lot too. I would then add another dark ride in Coney Mall where the Action Zone theatre currently is. If I had my choice I'd theme it to Phantom Theatre and bring it back in some manner. With the ride area being within Coney Mall but kind of hidden from the main midway by The Racer it could have a secluded rundown theatre appearance on the outside without really impacting the look of the rest of the land too. Since we already have a shooting dark ride in PS this would be a standard dark ride that is focused more on the story and you just get to ride through like the original PT.

Festhaus Updates
The streamers would be amazing to bring back Would do a lot to revitalize the place adding more theming and color/deco to the place. Really help it feel more of a German Festhaus too.

The Fate of Haunt
Another perk if they limit the space of the more extreme Haunt is that they could have more scarers and decor in the given area versus what was there before. Often times the scare zones and mazes have felt fairly devoid of scare actors. If they cut back to like 6 haunted houses and half the park decorated for scary stuff could mix decorations from other areas to fill in mroe space and get double the scare actors per zone. Granted they would still need some people to cover the family event as well but there would be a lot more you could do with static decor and jack o lanterns.
-
The Fate of Haunt
I was thinking something similar. Possibly even doing Planet Snoopy and Soak City for an expanded family friendly event. I know they have utilized Soak City before but they could really expand with a treat trail along the path with some booths, or make it a Jack o' lantern trail along the lines of Dollywood's displays between the areas. And then village settings in the water park and stuff around Planet Snoopy. Could probably fit a lot of what is at the new festivals in that area. I would hate to see Haunt go away completely but the new event for those parks does look nice.

Spirit Song no more??
If Kings Island organized their own festival, I hope they would try to do multiple ones for different genres. If they are doing something for that why not try to utilize that area more for additional use. Would be nice even to just seem them utilize it for seasonal shows like their other venues in the parks. It just seems like such wasted space to not be utilized except for one weekend a year. Other space was available before so they didn't need to touch it (and could still go awhile without). However, the entire land is in desperate need of a resfresh and if Congo Falls (and potentially Invertigo) got removed along with Timberwolf it would open up a massive area for them to use. You could easily fit a new coaster and multiple flats in that area.
-
Spirit Song no more??
As much as it would suck for those that enjoyed going, it seemed like such a waste of space for Timberwolf just to host this single event. If it’s gone maybe they can finally tear that down and expand/revamp Action Zone (hopefully with a retheme too).

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
That's why I initially liked the idea of something like a dive coaster going there. It would give a grand coaster similar to Vortex for the plot and provide great views on the turnaround at the top of the lift and the hold for the drop if it faced out to the park. could than have it soar back up by the midway with the usual dive loop to recapture some of the batwing element from Vortex. However I feel the land would better be utilized with multiple rides and still providing a large coaster for the area that can offer numerous inversion like Vortex if they did my above idea or something similar.
-
How much longer for Congo Falls?
Yea with RFYLCB and White Water Rapids next to each other, we'll usually bring a change of clothes if we really want to do them and then marathon them over and over, change into dry clothes and then enjoy the rest of the park. Or if planning to go to Soak City, jsut wear our swimsuits into the park with a random t-shirt and ride them first, then go straight over to Soak City.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Ideally I would love to see them make the path there between Coney Mall and Rivertown a buffer zone with rides that kind of fit both. As mentioned above they could add a Gerstlauer infinity coaster alongside the Coney Midway that uses about 1/3-1/2 of the plot of land and leave the other half or so closer to Rivertown open. Would then love to see BLSC have it's theming taken out and landscaping added and the tunnel given a wooden beam/mine(?) type aesthetic and then change the cars to something like Pony Express. A simple white Steeplechase theme with horses going around would fit in well with both Coney Mall and Rivertown. Then add in a new large scale flume ride on the remaining Vortex plot that is similar to Kenton's Cove with raised areas winding through trees, but maybe add in a second drop in the middle too with a section along the water level. This would be another attraction that would fit both themes well and would make a nice transition between the two areas along that path.
