  1. Intimidator was built in 2010. I think a Mack Rides launch coaster like Helix or Blue Fire would be a good addition to Kings Island. In fact, I think that one of those would be more likely than a giga in the coming years. It would also be a good alternative to an Intamin Blitz like Maverick because we all know about how Cedar Fair feels about Intamin nowadays.
  2. Another B&M over 300 feet at that. ThatGuy11, using Jarsh's words of wisdom. Well, at least Merthecat knows what I'm talking about.
  3. We have no idea what the name of Carowinds new coaster will be. As pointed out on Carowinds Connection (A forum like this but for Carowinds) the Furies were minor female divinities which the Romans believed in. Carowinds seems to be throwing out a Roman theme so Fury 325 or Centurion would both fit. I guess we will just have to wait until VIII.XXI.MMXIV to find out. Link to "Fury" definition: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fury
  4. This happened a few weeks ago at Carowinds but I forgot to post: "Oh yeah, I have ridden The WindSeekers. It is like 600 feet tall and easily the best ride here."
  5. I suggest you go to Carowinds sometime in the future. Or SeaWorld Orlando. Manta looks pretty darn awesome! I agree. I would love to ride Manta. But I would go to Carowinds first because of the new giga coaster they are getting in 2015 and besides, his favorite coaster is I305 so he could hit up that on the way down to Carowinds. Also, if he owns a Platinum Pass he gets in for free! ThatGuy, a planner.
  6. I suggest you go to Carowinds sometime in the future.
  7. So you got in line for food at 9:30? If you didn't have time to do much else than I am assuming you arrived at the park around 8:45. Why would you wait until 9:30 to get in line to eat your food? Just eat your food at home. I always go by this: if you want something done right, do it yourself. Anyways, I am sorry that your experience at KI was horrible. ThatGuy11, doing his job by asking questions.
  8. I don't understand how so many horrible events in the amusement park industry happen within the span of one week! This doesn't really make sense at all... Anyways, my heart and prayers go out all of those who were ever affected by any sort of malfunction at an amusement park. Cedar Fair parks are supposed to be FUN but I doubt Michigan's Adventure was today.
  9. Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.ThatGuy, who likes to read Harry Potter. But seriously, I think they renamed Flight Deck to The Bat because the old Bat was similar to the present day Bat and KI probably wanted to acknowledge a time in KI's history when the park wasn't that old and when its popularity was just taking off. I am glad they made the name change because if you look past all of the rumors, they were letting people know that the park doesn't forget where they came from.
  10. Around 3 years ago.... I feel really bad that I haven't gone now.

It looks like there has just been a tweetup! Maybe Don saw this thread... EDIT: Beaten...
  12. Cedar Fair just wants to make a good first impression when you enter the park. What park wouldn't want that? It also looks cool.
  13. Yes, I am sure. Last time I went to KI I was only 50" tall, too small to ride Firehawk. Last time I went to Carowinds I was 55" but I was too scared to ride a roller coaster laying down. ThatGuy11, who used to be a scaredycat.
  14. Hmmm.... I heard that the new coaster would be entirely on the NC side of the park..... Oh well, I suppose it going over the entrance is pretty cool.
  15. Woodielover55, you know you can edit your post right? I'm not trying to be a moderator or anything but editing a post instead of double posting really helps keep the forums cleaner and keeps the discussion flowing.
  16. I seriously don't know why you guys are saying that KI NEEDS a new coaster.... KI JUST got Banshee and they don't really need a brand new coaster for 5 years or so. I think what they need the most is just touch ups to outdated things around the park.
  17. So as many of you might have heard, I went to Carowinds on July 5th. Let me just say first off, I had LOTS of fun. We arrived at the park around 9:45 so we would have time to put sunscreen on and enter the park right at 10. When we got there, the first thing I noticed was their main entry gate. It is themed like some type of colonial county home. I can't really describe it but I liked it, I thought that it made the park seem more "welcoming" I guess. So our first ride was on Nighthawk with a 5 minute wait for the back row. Let me just say WOW. This coaster exceeded my expectations. I have never ridden a Vekoma Flying Dutchman model but let me just say that this coaster was especially thrilling (maybe it is because it is over water?) I give this ride an 8/10. Next up was a walk on ride in row 6 of Afterburn. This B&M inverted coaster was a great mix of zero g's, heavy positve g's and crazy inversions all in one. This was probably my favorite ride of the day. 8.5/10. Now we were planning on riding Thunder Road (which is like The Racer) but it seemed to be down so we walked on over to Carolina Goldrusher. This little ride is actually quite fun considering it was the first coaster at the park. My brother and I rode it around 5 times over the course of the day just for a nice break from being flipped upside down and tossed around. 6/10. We then chose to eat at Chickie's & Pete's Sports Grill. My whole family (4 people) shared a pizza and two small buckets of crab fries which was more than enough to fill us up. The crab fries were absolutely out of this world. They had the perfect amount of seasoning and flavor to blow me out of the water. The pizza on the other hand, wasn't so good. But I expected that from amusement park pizza so it really doesn't matter. Now we decided to trot over to Carolina Cyclone. This is a neat little Arrow looper with a simple layout and a crazy color problem going on. 6.5/10. Now onto Hurler. I actually liked this ride despite all of the hate it has recieved. The trick is to "lean into the turns" and you will be fine. We rode this ride about 3 times in a row. I give it a 7/10. After this we were planning on riding Afterburn again but it was closed for some reason so we went over to Intimidator. This ride was a great airtime producer with an awesome helix at the end. 8/10. After Intimidator we rode Afterburn. This time we got back seat so we were tossed around for a great ride. Then we went over to Thunder Road or "Tunda Rod" as my brother liked to call it. They weren't running the South Carolina side for some reason so the line for front row was twice as long as usual. This ride was probably the roughest ride all day but I guess that awesome wooden coaster airtime comes at a price. 7.5/10. I rode Afterburn front seat for the last ride of the day. It was pretty cool but I still think I liked the back more. Overall, I had a great time on a day where the water park was more crowded that the main park. Coaster Count: Intimidator:1 Afterburn:3 Carolina Goldrusher:4 Thunder Road:3 Hurler:3 Nighthawk:1 Carolina Cyclone:2.
  18. Yeah, it shouldn't be that crowded. I went to Carowinds today and the most I waited was 25 minutes for Intimidator. I expect it to be less crowded tomorrow. I guess the same goes with KI.
  19. I am assuming you didn't win? Also, how did you remember all of this if you went a month ago?
  20. Exactly. My friend went to Carowinds and then took a picture of Intimidator and said #intimidator305. I was like 'You know that I305 is in Virginia right?'
  21. Good, long, and very descriptive trip report! It sounds like you had lots of fun! But may I ask why you chose to use Comic Sans MS as your font?
  22. Just some advice, don't urge him to go on any large roller coasters like Diamondback or Banshee. Start out on Adventure Express or Backlot, then move onto something like The Racer or The Bat. If he has never been on a roller coster before, then don't force him to do something that he isn't ready for. Anyways, hope you have a great time!
  23. I agree, not trying to be mean but BB7 has only been on here for 2 months and has nearly 3 times as many posts as me. I have been a member for 10 months. Quality>Quantity
  24. Trees help the environment. They also give The Beast new places to hide. ThatGuy, a treehugger.
  25. Flight of Fear really misses Son of Beast huh?
