  1. Maverick is awesome and Millennium Force is always fun too. I especially like the "new millennium" theming of the ride and I think the following ad explains the theme well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc-q6QQklEs
  2. Drop Tower used to scare me when I was younger because I was afraid of getting stuck at the top. Nowadays, I love it (although lately, the drop has been catching me off-guard). I will say that Xtreme Skyflyer is the only ride at the park that still scares me a bit. Nonetheless, I still think it's a fun ride and I've ridden it the past two times I've come to the park.
  3. Maybe the 200029 is alluding to Son of Beast's big breakdowns that led to its removal (as Son of Beast opened in 2000 and the new ride is going in Son of Beast's old spot)? As for what the 670 (or 67, without the "oh") might mean, I'm not sure.
  4. I've been in the park a lot this season, so here are some songs that I remember have been playing: "Bruises"- Train feat. Ashley Monroe "Still into You"- Paramore "Let me love you" -Ne-Yo "A Thousand Years"- Christina Perri "Brighter than the sun" - Colbie Calliet "Back 2 Good" - Matchbox 20 (only heard it one night before the fireworks) "Our Song" -Matchbox 20 "Overjoyed" -Matchbox 20 "Big Yellow Bus" -Counting Crows/Vanessa Carlton "A Thousand Miles" -Vanessa Carlton "Just a Fool" -Christina Aguilera/Blake Shelton "How to Save a Life" -The Fray "You Found Me" -The Fray "That's what makes you beautiful- One Direction "Pinch me" -Barenaked Ladies "Waiting for Tonight" - J.Lo ... and I'll probably think of more! EDIT: There's more: "Paradise" -Coldplay "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" -Coldplay "The Remedy" -Jason Mraz "Hanginaround" -Counting Crows "Mine" -Taylor Swift "The Story of Us" -Taylor Swift "I knew you were trouble" -Taylor Swift "Mirrors" -Justin Timberlake "My love don't cost a thing" -J.Lo "Carry On" - fun. "Something to Believe in" -Parachute "Breathless" -The Corrs
  5. While riding Drop Tower and Adventure Express today, I noticed that a) there were people working in the construction area; b- the area seems to be expanding into the valley, close to Adventure Express (this might have already been mentioned before, but it was the first time I saw it) and c) there was a huge driller instrument on site, which might mean more footers will be poured soon (in fact, I think I remember seeing a few holes that were going to be prepped for footers as I had a pretty good view of the site before we dropped). -MDMC, whose current snack of choice while viewing this thread is a piece of gum! EDIT: I had to write b with a dash because an emoticon kept accidently popping up when I typed a "B" with a parenthesis.
  6. As I've mentioned before on other threads, I've ridden Mystery Mine by myself (as in, the only one on the train) and that was pretty fun. That's the only time that's happened, though.
  7. Happy 15th Shivering Timbers! I visited the park once (pre-Thunderhawk) and remember enjoying both this ride and Adventure Falls (a ride similar to Congo Falls, only instead of a double-drop, it has a large single drop). I also remember recreating Shivering Timbers on Roller Coaster Tycoon after I got back from the park that day.
  8. I go to the park alone a lot and enjoy myself. As others have said, it allows you to experience the park at your own pace.
  9. Yeah, 26 (Mean Streak) and 29 (American Eagle) are definitely not epic in my book; though I would love to go to DCA sometime to ride 30 (California Screamin')
  10. ^I thought the Diamondback voice-overs sounded familiar! I heard them when I was in line Sunday night (it was a great ride btw!) and I thought it was Don, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming!
  11. I actually watched some AdamTheWoo the other night and the videos were pretty cool! Specifically, I watched the Triceratops Encounter trail at IOA video (I think this was before it re-opened) and the two videos of the abandoned Nickelodeon Studios building at Universal Studios Florida.
  12. Thanks for sharing the link to the photos! I think these are really cool as I've never seen construction photos of a Drop Tower before
  13. Glad you had a good time; I enjoyed reading the trip report. As someone who frequents KI often during the season, I think it's nice to get a fresh perspective of the park from a first-time visitor. Finally, welcome to KIC!
  14. Got to be the first time that has been said about an SLC. Yeah, I've never ridden an SLC before and I'd really like to (even though I've heard they're rough).
  15. Heard this on Facebook and I'm so excited! Looks like I'll be getting some new coaster credits next year (though I don't know how many because the site's not too specific- it only specifically mentions Thunder Run as re-opening)! Bummer that T2 isn't opening until 2015 though...
  16. I've gotten pretty good spinning by myself at times (a few slow rotations), but usually I just go with the flow (which is little spinning until I make it spin by shifting my weight from side to side while waiting to be unloaded). That being said, the last time I rode with one of my friends (who weighs a little bit more than me), we were spinning like crazy (even after the ride had stopped!)!
  17. I remember when the first few times I rode it, my legs shook when I got off due to the intensity. When I was much younger, this was always my go-to ride, along with Adventure Express (I didn't ride much else back then...) and often my first ride of the day. I still love this ride and try to ride it almost every time I go! Even though the line's theming is a shell of what it once was, I still enjoy taking the trek back to ride one of my favorite Kings Island coasters. Happy 20th Flight Deck (or as I still call it, Top Gun) and here's to 20 more!
  18. I saw the show on the 16th and it thought it was pretty good. The ending trick worried me a bit (as he's freeing himself from the trap, the door swings and "hits" one of his assistants), but other than that, it was ok. I got to meet him after the show and when I told him I liked the music (which was great, btw), he said I had good taste (in music, that is)! EDIT: It was the last showing that night (6PM, I think?).
  19. fun (or, as some write it, fun.) is also a rock band. -MDMC, who on some nights has a lot of fun.
  20. The front of a coaster gives the rider a good view and the back gives the rider more forces as it is the "whip" of the train. For me, it doesn't matter where I sit on most rides, although there are some KI coasters I tend to ride near the back on (Vortex, Diamondback, Adventure Express). Vortex is great in the back because I love the airtime from the first big drop. I ride in the back on Diamondback because riding in the very front scares me (seriously). Adventure Express is fun in the back because I like the feeling of getting pulled down the drop out of the station when the ride first starts. Also, I've experienced some fun surprises at other parks when I've sat in the back (like that crazy ride on Thunderhead and the pop of airtime from the back of Top Thrill Dragster).
  21. This sounds awesome! I loved it when the radio stations played great music in Action Zone on Opening Day and this event sounds a bit similar (and possibly better!). And yes, Kings Island needs to do something similar.
  22. I saw this while reading the paper today and I plan to check it out sometime
  23. This is a really good trip report; thanks for posting. That panoramic picture of Splash Mountain's scenery looks amazing!
  24. Pedal to the Medal by Kazzer- plays in Backlot Stunt Coaster's queue line (I love this song, btw ) Breathe by The Prodigy- plays in Invertigo's station Right Now by Van Halen- plays in Drop Tower's station as ride starts I know the park plays a lot of 90's/early-mid 2000's songs but I can't think of any specific titles at the moment...
  25. I hate tilt-a-whirls. I had the misfortune of riding my first (and only) one at Michigan's Adventure... twice!!! I just think it spins at too tight of a radius. Strangely enough, spinning like crazy on Monster is amazing! Roller coaster wise, I'm not a fan of Mean Streak because it's way too rough.
