  1. Yes but no name bands dont bring in the big crowds that the 1 Willie Nelson would. Think of it like this. A Willie Nelson fan would go "Oh look Nelson is playing lets go to see that at SW. We can make a day out of it." That is hundreds if not thousands of people in that area + the groupies who go to all shows. Now the no name bands may bring with them 10s of people.
  2. I have yet to hear a news link or commercial in cincinnati or Dayton. We may be just a bit outside te market but during Flag days I remember seeing a bunch of commercials Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Depends on who owns the park then...
  4. That's truthfully about what The Beast gets at Kings Island nowadays. Now is that on average for the day or is that during one hour when they are queued back all the way out?
  5. Plus could it be that KD has been neglected so much, while KI has at least been taken care of a bit better?
  6. On a KIC day, we should leave a front seat open for him. So he can ride with us, even if its in spirit only.
  7. Although that may be the initial proposed rendering... that's exactly what the real thing looks like. The billboards are that *odd.* Hmmm. Well Ill be... They just dont look real.... I believe ya though... So why own a park if you dont like rides because of motion sickness.... I mean its a big investment in something you dont enjoy. You may enjoy the shows and non-rides, but couldnt you just own a theater?
  8. Right now on History Channel 2 is a Modern Marvels episode all about Walt Disney World. Underground tunnels built actually at ground level... everything else starts 14 feet above ground... etc etc etc..
  9. That doesnt look like a photo..... or at least a photo of the real billboard... could be what the billboards will look like...
  10. You have to remember, that we all want all parks to survive. But we have to be realistic. Competition breeds success for all. But that also means being smart and seeing it from all sides. You notice not many people have thrown their own personal money behind KK to rebuild it. This area has many parks that were closed prematurely (Geuga Lake, Le Sourdesville). KK is located in an area that has things going against it. It does not own all of its land and has height restrictions. If this park survives will Hart stick around or does the park get sold again? Not many know the answer to this. A park that has a limited number of rides cannot expect to compete against bigger parks. The way it stands, KK does not entice me enough to spend my money there. (Not to mention, I have not seen/heard a single radio/tv spot for this park) Many families are beginning to plan family vacations for Summer of 2014. I have seen a few Busch garden/Sea world commercials, many universal and Disney spots. Not to mention the over saturation of CP and KI spots. Holiday World has a nice little niche and as it stands Im not sure KK has done enough to drive tourists away from HW.
  11. The whole place is incredible. When my little guy is a bit older we will be getting a season pass...

  13. But the company is called Disney for short (Walt Disney Company)... and Technically its Walt Disney World.... So even you are shortening it when you claim Disney World.... not to mention WDW is the name of the Resort, the parks are called Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywod Studios, and Disney Animal Kingdom..... So in essence by stating you are visiting Disney, you could be going to corporate, a store, a studio, or a park....
  14. Not that Coney is a destination park, but a hotel on the side of the Racino, IMHO, would help them and Riverbend. Summer concerts + a trip to Coney + a Racino trip could be a nice weekend. I could see someone coming down on a Friday night, staying at the Racino, going to Coney early on Saturday, then go back to the Hotel/Racino to change, hit up the Concert on Saturday night, then take the hotel bus back afterwards. The fictitious party people would then leave on Sunday...
  15. Gabe... so what you are telling me by not telling me is... The fair board (and in an extension the state) may not be 100% behind this park working. If it doesnt work, then the state may find a clean way of ridding themselves of the land while still looking good (blaming Hart for the failure), since they "wanted" the park to do well so they put it up as collateral for the bank loan..... But of course if the state wanted the park to do beyond great parking would have been included....
  16. but it is and the fair board is one if the reasons why this park has a very steep hill to climb....
  17. Its amazing what we consider "cool" around the ages of 17-25 and then what we deem practical when we have children. I used to think I needed to wear the coolest nicest clothes then as I get older with a kid I wear clothes that fit and are comfy and can be ruined by other things. When I was younger I thought, man what sort of dorky rube of a parent puts their kid in a harness. That's demeaning to the child and a sign of bad parenting. Now I have a son. When he gets older and we go to Disney/Universal/KI/CP and I will be that bad parent with a harness/leash on him. Not because I dont trust him or myself. But things happen. I could turn to buy a drink and think hes holding onto my pant leg and he could be long gone..... priorities always change as we get older....
  18. I think if you put your kid on a leash, you know you will at least be able to keep them within your grasps. Even at 4/5/6 if your child only goes 3 or 4 feet in front of you and it just takes one weirdo to grab your child in a large group of people. At least with a backpack leash you can keep your hand on the leash and keep the child from being taken as quickly. Its about keeping your kids safe. Who cares what other people think.
  19. Yup just get over it. That will fix things.... There is a difference between normal (expectations) and abnormal situations. A coffee kept at 150-160 = normal. A coffee at 180 = abnormal. Coffee being spilled by you in your car = normal, coffee being spilled on you by the drive thru attendent = abnormal. A coaster being a little rough = normal, a coaster causing multiple injuries and possible lifelong debilitating injuries = abnormal... With your thought process, i should know people are bad drivers and if i get hit, just get over it....
  20. Not to derail this topic, but the story of the woman suing McDonald's for the hot coffee is not as bizarre or outrageous as you've probably been led to believe. The incident occurred in 1992 and severely burned a 79-year-old woman. The coffee was at a ridiculously hot temperature compared to other establishments, and McDonald's had already dealt with over 700 similar reports of coffee burning customers without adjusting the beverage's temperature. The woman spent eight days hospitalized because of the burns the coffee caused, and initially sought to settle with McDonald's for only $20,000 (a very realistic amount considering her medical bills and loss of income), but the company was only willing to pay $800. Also, do a Google image search for "Liebeck burns" (mildly NSFW, I may add) to see just how bad the burns was. The coffee at the time for McD's was served at over 180 degrees. Yes coffee is hot, but 180+ degrees for just a few seconds can cause a major burns (3rd degree). They kept it hot so they didnt have to rebrew coffee, not for customers. The new lady suing is doing so because the person handing the coffee out the window spilled it on her... http://www.fresnobee.com/2013/10/23/3568411/clovis-woman-74-sues-mcdonalds.html
  21. did you make or buy that harness? Parents I work with all of the time are looking for things such as this. Any help would be appreciated..
  22. This is good news because I was sad I didnt get to ride the ride my last time there. I was almost convinced this ride was being removed.... Now... looking forward to 2014 and beyond...
  23. Overall, CF INMHO has been hitting homeruns across the chain. This is just the latest greatest home run. Banshee and bringing back a beloved name.... My oh my!
  24. Was that right before the "fake" page went live? EDIT: AUGUST 3rd the exact same tweet happened....
  25. Wow. Had long had he gone between rides? What was special about tonight's ride? Which seat was he in? Don a huge congrats sir. I hope ride 12000 was just as memorable and great as ride 1. Here is hoping you get another 12000 rides in on the beautiful roller coaster. I wonder which era or season of The Racer did Don love the most? Was the early racer better than the later? Was 85 better than 93? In all seriousness, Congrats Don. It makes me know that our park is in safe hands when a true enthusiast is one of the people behind the scenes making our park what it is.
