  1. Just saw this: http://www.wkyc.com/mobile/article/features/cedar-point-making-changes-to-maverick-roller-coaster-in-two-year-plan/95-526564974
  2. I am absolutely excited for Mystic Timbers! I believe it will be an excellent and very fitting addition to the park. In regards to the second announcement, and this is through my own speculation only, I shall quote Bill Nye, and ask you to consider the following... With Kings Island's last major attraction, Banshee, the park completely refurbished and re-themed what was once a comical and decrepit rename of Top Gun into The Bat. It looks as though Kings Island has been focusing more on getting rid of, or re-imagining non-operational eyesores throughout the park (the demise of Son of Beast comes to mind). I suppose the now permanent haunt buildings are an exception though. When Cedar Fair makes a large capital investment into a B&M coaster, the price tag usually comes the mid twenty-million-dollar price range. GCI coasters purchased by Cedar Fair, in comparison, typically cost less than half of that. With each of the last major additions to the park through Cedar Fair's ownership, we've seen that particular section of the park receive lots of TLC in the form of major refurbishments, which I'm assuming is not cheap. Rivertown has already been refurbished with the debut of Diamondback in 2009. Matt Ouimet has stated that one of his plans for Cedar Fair is to place more of an emphasis on dark rides. Knott's and Wonderland both had great locations for Cedar Fair's new "Amusement Darks", which were reported to cost around the same amount of money as a typical GCI coaster. Ouimet also stated that we can expect to see similar rides at the other parks. Instead of utilizing IP, the "Amusement Darks" rely on telling the story of what is "underneath the park", especially when it comes to specific areas of a park. The Tomb Raider/Crypt building is, quite literally, the perfect place for one of these "Amusement Darks". The building already has the electrical infrastructure, height (for a multilevel dark ride), and easily customizable thematic elements which could make building a new dark ride even more cost effective (can you picture the entrance being turned into a pseudo mine entrance?). In fact, unless the building was poorly constructed like that of Disaster Transport (which I doubt), it would seem almost idiotic to raze such a useful existing frame. With Cedar Fair's emphasis on improving the area around a new attraction, it would be a little odd to leave a big empty tan box right beside their brand new beauty. I'm guessing a lot of first time guests will gravitate towards rides via actually seeing the rides and being curious, rather than by looking at the park map. If a bunch of first time guests are riding up the lift hill of the newest coaster, it's kind of hard to miss the sight of the gigantic building right in front of them. Out of curiosity, they may go and investigate. See also, http://www.latimes.com/travel/themeparks/la-trb-cedar-fair-dark-rides-20150415-story.html Pay particularly close attention to the last line of this article. This is my analysis, but I'm just thinking out loud.
  3. Yesterday marked my first trip to the park this year, and I noticed a new, relatively low cell phone tower from Planet Snoopy which looks like it's on park property. Is this new, or did they add it last year?
  4. The attention to detail is amazing. It is now very obvious that Dick Kinzel is gone. It's really happening.... After six years, the park is truly getting back to its roots.
  5. I apologize, I just realized the rail replacement was being discussed a few pages back. There have been a lot of posts over the past few days.
  6. It may just be some weird lighting illusions, but check out The Bat cam. It looks like part of the rails are missing/damaged.
  7. I'm sorry about the post. *Please remove this.
  8. Although it's been 7 years, would it be appropriate to assume that Cedar Fair may have kept the office space previously occupied by Paramount Parks?
  9. I haven't posted to the forums in a while, but I am just absolutely thrilled with the direction that Cedar Fair has started taking. Lately, it's been as if all of the parks have been taken over by an entirely different company, and in my opinion, that's a really good thing! - Ride additions that make sense for the special and unique atmospheres of each park. - Additions that take note of their placement within the park. - Meticulous attention to detail. - Each new major attraction now has a theme, some even have story lines. I was thrilled to see that Banshee had a theme and story, but this new addition at CW makes me absolutely ecstatic. - Apparently, as well as having a new name, the WindSeeker to be installed at Worlds of Fun will also have a theme that makes sense. - Each new addition focuses on the big picture of the typical fun seeking family, not the average rowdy teenager. Matt Ouimet is doing an absolutely outstanding job running the company. Gone are the days of fine details being considered "lipstick". The parks are in good hands. The parks will become more epic and unique, and Cedar Fair will surely create the sensation of the best day possible.
  10. Just adding to your list, but the wooden coaster in Planet Snoopy with an identity crisis was repainted to its current sky blue color. It kind of makes you wonder if Woodstock Express requires the same type of paint as Racer?
  11. I don't get it... Look at the italicized word, then sound it out one syllable at a time. Then think about what camping involves. What? Oh, ohhhh, now I see it! Lame... Well, I thought it was funny.... I thought it was very clever and funny as well. These are forums where people go to have friendly conversations with others who share the same interests as themselves, we should all be respectful of one another.
  12. That display actually saddened me seeing them under those sheets. At least they were warm.
  13. I'm with Dwight Shrute. I like WindSeeker, but these issues are concering to me as well. I'm a type 1 diabetic, am on an insulin pump, and occasionally, bad things happen. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would feel like if something were to go wrong while I was stuck, in a seat, 300' in the air, with my emergency medical supplies in a bag many stories below. I've always tried to keep this in the back of my head, and usually, when I ride on any ride that could have a significantly long evac time, I carry a bag of skittles in my pocket, just in case. That however, wouldn't last for four hours if my blood sugar levels were to drop.
  14. 17 Minutes, without being plagued by every red light. (I live on Rt. 48 between Goshen & Loveland). You can hear the fireworks from our yard at night (but it's still too far to see them). I have to admit, if you live close, you often take it for granted. I usually use it as a reference point if people have absolutely no idea as to where my boondock location is.
  15. You know, I've been thinking. I wonder how much of Cedar Fair's capital has been spent on demolition/removal this year. Son of Beast, The Crypt, Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Space Spiral, and the ride at Knott's. I'm not sure if I'm forgetting something.
  16. The ironic thing is that, in my opinion, the WindSeekers look more "upscale"; meaning they look more solid, what with their tower's solid shell, and the fact the seats are connected by metal bars rather than chains. This is proof that looks can be deceiving. I do hope that these issues are solved though, I actually thouroughly enjoy WindSeeker (even more so when I'm confident I won't be spending the night on it).
  17. *It's only a joke.
  18. http://www.cagreatam...AMERICA-IN-2013 Look who the contact is at the bottom of the page. EDIT: TylerRider already pointed it out.
  19. Ironically, I believe that Celebration Plaza is already a pre-determined/existing area at CGA.
  20. A small RCCA coaster would look perfectly natural in Suess Landing! It's structure would clearly defy logic. *Obviously I'm kidding,

Apparently, as of a few regular doctor visits ago, I've actually got slightly low blood pressure, which isn't necessarilly a bad thing, but I tend to black out somewhat easily if I haven't had anything solid to eat for a few hours prior to riding rides. The most notorious for me is the helix on BLSC. Funny thing is, I never black out on Diamondback or any other tall rides, it just seems to happen with centrifugal force. Regardless, I still enjoy all the rides I can get throughout the day.
  22. I believe that the inn (as well as all of the park's land on the opposite side of I-71), was sort of split from the park once Lindner's Great American Financial Group took control. When the Paramount sale came to fruition, the inn as well as the land on the other side of the interstate was not part of the sale, and was thereby kept by Lindner's company. I am not sure who operates the inn now, or if it's running on it's own management. Please don't take all of this information as fact, as my minds a little fuzzy on all the details, perhaps Terpy can help with this one.
  23. I don't think that the park will place any specific item in Son of Beast's place, rather like some on here, I have a feeling that the Action Zone (or whatever the area might be called in the future) midway will be extended to allow for a more thorough expansion of the park. I mean, this does offer a big opportunity for expansion, as the dry park's current borders are litterally made up of coasters (including SOB), Crypt and the train. If you've ever walked along the access roads behind SOB leading to the area behind AE, and X-Base, you know that there is a decent amount of open land back there. With the big wooden behemoth out of the way, perhaps that land could be utilized for not just one ride, but an entirely new future area.
  24. When I had first seen the announcement by the park on Facebook, my initial reaction was thinking KIC would suffer an uber-epic bandwidth appocalypse...
