  1. Back to my original statement. I believe the lifthill is a marvel. It is the tallest wooden structure in the world and I am unaware of any structural problems and or other issues with that part of the ride. My suggestion was to build a new attraction that reuses this part of SOB. I don't really care anything for the rest of the ride so do what ever you want with that, particularly the rose bowl which seems to be the main problem area. My point was that if this were to happen, Kings Island would legitimately have a new attraction that keeps the best part (in my opinion) of the current ride which would in turn save them money. There for, this argument of sinking too much into SOB would not hold water because it would be a new attraction. I'm thinking Gravity Group could build a pretty awesome ride reusing the lift/drop and building the rest as a steel structure wood track like Voyage. Just my opnion of course.
  2. some headlight stickers would really help. Maybe they will add them at some point.
  3. the ride in its entirety is not the marvel, just the lift hill and drop.
  4. How about a new ride that just happens to re-use the SOB lift hill/drop, station and queue? Could we then look at it as a new attraction that happens to save a large amount of money by re-using these things and not just additional cost dumped into fixing SOB? That drop is really the only thing I enjoy about SOB in its current state and it would be a crime to destroy that structure. It is beautiful and an engineering marvel.
  5. I too was at the park today from around 10-1:30. A friend and I had been debating going all week. We almost did not go because of the weather forecast but it looked like the morning was going to be ok and I wanted to go ahead and get my pass processed so we went for it. I am glad we did. The weather was good the time we were there and lines were almost non existent, so it turned out to be a great visit. I was very impressed with Planet Snoopy. I thought it looked great and kids seemed to be having a good time. I also really liked Boo Blasters. I can see where some of the younger guest may be a little more scared of it than SDatHC but it was very well done. All and all I think the park is looking better every year. I know there are plenty of things that all of us would like to see changed, fixed, restored, etc but I think the park looked good, the staff was friendly and everything seemed to be operating fairly smooth so I believe KI is moving in a good direction.
  6. I agree with all of you that the prices are high for food at KI, but where they really get you is on the drinks. This why I always just get a cup of water, which is what I usually do anytime I eat out. It will save you a ton of $ and not to mention it is better for you. Unless things have changes the cup of water is free.
  7. anybody have pics of back lot's trains?
  8. Where is it located?
  9. I really wish we did not lose the wild animal safari, but I can understand why it was removed. The upkeep with the animals had to be staggering. The thing that really upsets me is what Oktoberfest has become. Not only are most of the rides gone but the theme is almost completely destroyed. A lot of charm could be added back to this area for little money if we could just get some German music and food in the festhaus. Then for good measure some roaming musicians and a nicely themed flat ride and the area is reborn. I know it will never be Epcot, or even what it once was in KI's early years, but a little effort would be awesome here. Anyone agree?
  10. It wasn't there the first few weeks. I believe it was added sometime in May. I assume those are the phones that are both broken and unclaimed. I lost mine on my second ride but was fortunate enough to get it back in one piece.
  11. I was extremely happy with just about everything I ate at Disney. The food was a large part of the experience.
  12. I see that the 5@5 are back on Facebook so maybe the blog retirement was a joke as well.
  13. Cedar Point has shut down their blog as well.
  14. Did the information go out yet? I, for one, am very excited to find out what's happening in the castle. Nothing yet from KI today, but I did get Holiday World's news letter already!
  15. Well that is good news. Maybe the state can get someone in there to run the park and fix things up and have it ready by next year.
  16. Thank You Kings Island! I hated the elephant.
  17. The gang goes to a camp and they all build rafts and race down the river. That's it in a nutshell.
  18. I'm guessing you never saw the Peanuts special titled "Race For Your Life Charlie Brown."
  19. Agreed. It is very cool that they are doing this, even of some of the answers are not what we want to hear. Please keep this up Kings Island!
  20. speaking of that documentary, any word on when it will air on t.v.? or be for sale? I would love to have that on DVD.
  21. All I can say to that is wow...
  22. Terpy is right, I work for a radio station. We work a little different since we are a non commercial station, but we pay a yearly fee to play music. What music we choose to purchase and play is up to us. If it is not an issue of cost, then it is purely bad taste. Cedar Fair may not want to run "theme parks" but Kings Island was built as one. It will never by anything even remotely close to Disney, but why not at least use what you have?
  23. I was thinking that perhaps it would cost more to have more than one style of music simply because there would be more music to pay for. Either way it would be a step in the right direction in my opinion.
  24. This makes me kind of upset, more than so when it comes to International Street. Coney Mall and AZ yes, but the whole park, nooooo. Me too. I was hoping for a better answer when I asked...I know music licensing cost money, but I think for the effect it would create for a relatively small amount of expenditure it is a no brainer. I must have been spoiled by Disney trip last year.
