  1. That is why we did the 4 pack of platinum passes as well, rather than individual ones. I mean I *need* 4 adult passes (2 adults and 2 kids who are over 3 years old and 48 inches tall).....it was a $40 savings to go the 4 pack vs 4 individuals...
  2. BTW - We saw the $5 refill at Skyline in Coney Mall and at the stand under Eiffel Tower. Those were the only two places I stopped at, hubby got the rest of the drinks... I didn't see any signs about the $5 drink wrist band though.
  3. From what I saw today, the wrist bands were identical. I saw a lady with the refillable cup and it was a gray wristband. Later in the day I saw 2 people come up and get 20 oz drinks for free and they were a gray wrist band.
  4. Have not seen this posted anywhere, so thought I would mention it. Sorry if it was posted, but I skimmed through the posts and didn't see anything. As we were walking the park today, we were getting some water, and hubby noticed a sign that was advertising for $5 you could get a wristband that would allow you all day refills for your refillable KI cup. They were advertising it vs paying $1.99 per refill. Also I love the fact that they kept the refillable cotton candy/popcorn buckets. Hope they move this on to other parks as well (the lids list all the parks, but last year they were not doing it at CP).
  5. Thanks...I didn't know they set up individual accounts, so I will go do that now.
  6. Anyone else not able to renew their pass from last year? We tried, with the family 4 pack (since we needed 4 adults), but it never asked... The only pass it asked if we were renewing on was the Jr/Sr pass we purchased.
  7. Ok...I have tried numerous times to register the rest of our cards today. I got mine done (as the primary), but every time I try to add any of the other 4, it keeps telling me I need to create a username and password for them. Sorry, I don't think a 4 year old, 7 year old or 9 year old need an account of their own .... Any suggestions. I have logged in under my account, clicked where it asks if I want to add passes and fill in the information. But it also has the Username and password and verification of password. It wont go beyond this w/o doing the username and password. If I use mine, it tells me an account already exists... Also, I have tried to do it on my cell phone using the internet.... Melissa S.
  8. Thanks. I have a smartphone, but am not very good at using it for more than a regular old fashioned what they call BRU cell phone (text, video messaging, VCAST, making phone calls).... I will try to register the cards when we renew, if we do it at the park on my phone, if not we may try to do the installment plan and renew on-line and will register at home. I am not worried about the wrist bands for the first visit, it will be too hot this weekend to do more than drink water for our family.
  9. What is the Memorial Day special offer they have going on?
  10. Thanks. Our home part is King's Island and we usually get Platinum Passes, and do a trip or two per year to Cedar Point. Ok..probably another stupid question. Since we wont renew till we go down, is there a way to register the card down there, or can I put in my Season Pass numbers now from our cards (from last year)? Also, if we are a family and register five cards (yes, 5...) will the points accumulate from all cards on one fun perks account, or on each individual card (this way we know if we are better off using one specific card for all purchases or if it really matters)?
  11. We are about to renew our passes, but before I do, I want to make sure Platinum Passes with Kings Island as the home park are eligible for the Funperks program and benefits. I have believe I have seen people mention that they are platinum holders and are using it, but want to make sure before going and buying our passes.
  12. Ocean's Of Fun was not a property originally owned by Cedar Fair. OOF was originally owned by Lamar Hunt, who also owned Worlds of Fun and the Kansas City Chiefs. They also had snoopy theming in the parking well prior to the park changing hands. I know they had it as far back as 1992, when it was still owned by Lamar Hunt. I know this all from my personal knowledge of having been an employee for several years at both WOF and OOF and having lived in Kansas City.
  13. Our Platinum Passes are two years old and are still in great shape. Last year when we renewed they just re-used the pass and pic we had from that year for the 2009 pass (so I had these since April 2008). We just purchased one of their pass holders and keep them all there.
  14. Ok, I just went to the website to try and re-new one of our passes (due to economy, have to do them one at a time as the money comes in). The Platinum Passes are not listed for sale on their website. I looked both under the buy it now, pay it now and under the buy it now, pay it later. I did notice they are still available on the Cedar Point website though.
  15. I have been to that park once, and it was OK. My mom's place of employment had a company picnic there one summer while I was vacationing at home.
  16. Friday Night - we got to the park around 10:30 to 11:00 pm. Figured we would let the kids run out some energy after the car ride up, even though it was so late. Mostly hit the kids area, Planet Spooky and rode a few of the rides there. At this time, the park was fairly empty and couldn't see many of the monsters about either. We stayed till close, and while walking back ran into all sorts of monsters returning from their appointed areas. My oldest, who said he was brave, hid like a chicken from everything, even though they were being nice to the kids. My youngest son who said he was terrified of everything, ended up seeing the monsters and cackling hysterically. I think we mostly ran into Carn Evil, and he thought the clowns were the best thing in the world. He was even giving the monster's high fives, and we are talking a 4 year old here. Saturday - We got there, and took the kids to Snoopy Boutique, because they were having fill a bag for $10 and you got a free Peanut's Monopoly for each bag you purchased. We got some great gifts for my Uncle who is big into Snoopy and two of the Monopoly's. My almost 2 year old grabbed two stuffed Snoopy dolls for herself (Joe Cool and Flying Ace). We then went to the kids area for a while and my daughter rode Kite Eating Tree for the first time (she was not quite 2 yet). After spending some time there, we headed over to the costume contest. My daughter dressed up in her little princess costume we had made for her and my youngest son dressed up as a pirate cowboy. Both were in the pre-school group. My daughter got Lucy's Favorite. After the pre-school one was over we headed to get some hot chocolate and kill some time before the grade school one. My eldest dressed up as a cowboy. Afterwards, we packed everything up and took the long walk (through frontier area) towards Gemini Bathrooms so my daughter could be in the parade. She did great during the first half of the parade, but got bored with it for the rest of the way. Then we had the long hike from the end of the route to the back/Soak City gate, to meet the rest of the family. We headed out for some dinner. After dinner we returned to the park, and the kids went to the kids areas again for a couple of hours. We also played in the game room, and got about 600 tickets to add to our collection. We left around 10 pm as the kids were ready for bed. The crowds were large this day. It seemed the later into the day, the larger they got, even in the kids areas. Sunday - We got there around noon. First thing out of the box was my eldest child's first ride on Magnum. Of course I am not able to ride it right now, so hubby had to ride it with him. (6 1/2 years old and about 49-50 inches tall already) He loved it, and we splurged and got the ride photo package with the album, 6x8, keychain and magnet. Then we made the circuit of the park, starting in front with Planet Spooky, then the other kids area there. Then my youngest son wanted to do the costume contest again, so we did. We celebrated my daughter's second birthday at the park as well. After this we went to Antique cars, Multiple, Multiple, Multiple trips through Boo's. We rode the sports cars back there, and then I rode Blue Streak with my eldest (DH was done with coasters for the day after Magnum). We then headed for a late lunch/early dinner at Market Buffet. After eating we rode the Lift across the park and back. Then took the long way back to the car through frontier. We rode Iron Dragon with eldest son. Looked through the shops and stuff in Frontier Town/Trail, and headed to the back two kids areas. My boys rode Jr. Gemini while my daughter had to sit around because nothing else was open. Then we headed to Camp Snoopy. Daughter rode the Race cars, while the boys waited in line for Woodstock. I had to ride Woodstock with my youngest. Then we headed to the Swings, which I rode with my daughter and the boys rode solo. We were the last riders of the night. We headed back to the house we rented and put our stuff in the car and made the drive home. Of course the kids barely made it out of town before they were asleep, after a quick sandwhich to fill them back up. Crowds were almost non-existent with almost walk on for everything with a few exceptions (TDD and Maverick and Millenium). That was our last trip to Cedar Point for the year. Not looking forward to next years, because my oldest will be able to ride more big kid rides, and it breaks my heart to see him grown up now... So, my 6 1/2 year old has rode, since he turned 48 inches tall --- Iron Dragon (last year at 46) Disaster Transport (last year at 46) Magnum (10/18) Mine Ride (Labor Day Weekend) Blue Steak (Labor Day Weekend and this weekend) At King's island he has rode: Drop Zone Vortex Adventure Express Racer
  17. I have to say that it was supposed to be about the same last Saturday (10/17), but I think there was a 40% chance of rain. The park was so crowded. Even Iron Dragon had a very long line. I didn't wait in it with my son, but I would say judging from where it was (out into the park, not the roped off section) around 2 pm (when they do the costume contest) that it was close to a 45 min wait. Saturdays are just plain crazy. We used Saturday to explore the kiddie areas, games, and costume contests for the kids..Oh and of course Boo's House.
  18. As an attorney I can state that I would be calling in several medical experts as witnesses to testify as to how many hip replacement surgeries this woman is going to need over the remaining course of her life. From personal experience, I can tell you that replacements of joints only have a specific life to them. For instance, if you have your knee joint replaced, it only has an expected life of 15 years. That is one of the reasons they do not want to do them on younger people, because they have to have future replacements. According to this site, a hip replacement has a life of 10-15 years. So, every 10-15 years this individual is going to have to undergo hip replacement surgery again along with all the associated physical therapy. To get how long this individual will live they look at actuarial tables (yes, my spelling sucks of this). so, if she is 30 and has a life expectancy of 80 years, that is 50 years in which she will have to undergo anywhere from 3-5 hip replacement surgeries. http://www.hipsandknees.com/hip/hipimplants.htm
  19. Let's not forget that Cedar Fair/KI can attempt to blame the manufacturer and contractors who did the work. They can argue that even with the reasonable diligence that they have done in inspecting, etc, that there were design flaws that were the result.
  20. They also often settle while a jury is deliberating and before they reach a verdict.
  21. and they are gonna have to prove beyond a shadow of doubt Civil court is a reasonable doubt. Criminal court is beyond a reasonable doubt. Again, incorrect, Civil trials are preponderance of the evidence.
  22. and they are gonna have to prove beyond a shadow of doubt Umm, technically, all she has to do is show by a preponderance of the evidence. Beyond a shadow of doubt is criminal.
  23. I was only kidding on that....I make sure he stands up tall regardless of being measured for a ride or for prices...I had stated earlier I wasn't upset about having to pay the increased price to an adult.
  24. *LOL* I was actually thinking of telling him to slouch. He is about a 1/2 in taller than the 48 in bar when he stands up straight. I will see about some flip flops that are paper thin and the slouching. I am not worried about the price difference, I just didn't know if they would consider him a "new passholder" because of the change in height (meaning paying a bit more) or if he would be considered "renewing" since he has had previous passes, but just as JR. What actually stinks is that my daughter will turn 3 on 10/18/10, so basically for like 2 weekends we will have to purchase her tickets or a pass next year.
  25. My son is just barely 48" tall now. So next year we will need to purchase a normal adult pass for him (hard to believe for a 6 yo). My question is that we have current passes, and his is a JR Platinum pass. So next year we will need a Adult Platinum pass. Will he be considered a renewal pass or a new pass holder for this fall?
