  1. This is very true. Even though many people on here complain about the prices, more people that don't have season passes are lining up for food because they only go once or twice. So it's probably very unlikely that prices will go down anytime soon. Just like Aerosmith, I will dream on...
  2. That's what I was saying earlier. Either put a regular light on in the tunnel or like an eerie red light just to add a little something else to riding it at night. I think it'd be pretty sweet.
  3. Heck yes. Let's do it!

Yeah, I agree. But I was talking about possibly adding banking to the turns leading up to the second hill to allow for more speed.

Beast is usually about this much banked... http://www.coastercommunity.com/index.php?...;g2_itemId=7644

I believe it was the first wooden to go perpendicular (at least from what I think I remember reading).
  7. welchce replied to welchce's topic in Kings Island
True. But would you like to see it happen?
  8. welchce replied to welchce's topic in Kings Island
So do you think this is a good idea and/or KI will do this ever?

As of now, I have rode The Beast 12 times this year. Each time I question the use of brakes but I let it go because of wear and tear issues of the trains traveling at high speeds (especially the one on the drop after the second hill). The one that kills me the most is the one at the end of the covered straight track because of how awesome it would be to go through the woods without the ride being adulterated with a brake. Recently I have started wondering instead of using a brake there why not redo the turn there and the ones after till the second lift hill to add more banking to reduce lateral forces on the passengers? This would help keep the speed and not be as painful on the body. Now I'm not necessarily suggesting that The Beast go this extreme but here's an example of some nice banking. http://www.rcdb.com/ig2667.htm?picture=54 I mean the ride was built in 79 and KI has already started to redo some track (as well as The Racer). I'd rather redo The Beast a little than have it maimed.
  10. Do what now? Where?
  11. I always thought it was weird that they didn't have anything to simulate you going down the stairs. Apparently it was a swing and a miss...
  12. This is very true. I've only eaten once at KI this year and that was because I was staring after waiting all day for Firehawk to open so I was so hungry I didn't mind paying $10 for a bacon cheeseburger and a drink. The past 2 times I left to park to go to McDonald's and Frisch's, respectively. Every other time I've packed a lunch and ate in the parking lot.
  13. What effects are you talking about?
  14. Wow, that must be a collector's item.
  15. That's probably because we've been to KI more than any other parks and therefore we are more critical of it. I have no agruement against you saying you had a bad time at CP at a Saturday in 96 since they didn't have as many rides as now and everything had huge lines. I am glad to hear you're giving it a second chance. And I think that the old "Paramount Story" area with the trees and waterfall is an extremely beautiful place and I want to say congratulations to you and your girlfriend.
  16. I actually found that ride fun the one time I rode it. Did you not ride it correctly? Because it has a special sign at the top which gives a certain way to position your arms around your head. Even though the Monster is a fun ride, I had a bad experience with it because there might've been 20 people in line in front of me but from when I got in line to when I got off the ride it took over a half an hour (I think close to 40 minutes). I asked this in another thread and I'll ask it here again, why (when it has 6 pneumatic arms) can it only load and unload two arms at once? It baffles my mind. My least favorite ride has to be Snowy River Rampage. The texture on the mats you're standing on while waiting in line feels like a million little tacks. Not to mention the day I rode they were running (what seemed to me) far too few rafts because the wait was way too long (much longer than we waited for the much much more fun Tasmanian Typhoon). I have no idea why my friends and I stayed in line. The ride is average by itself. If you ever think of going back to ride it, make sure you put on your sandals first.
  17. My girlfriend wanted to ride it the other day because she thought it's hilarious that it's called the "Giggle Coaster" yet in order to ride by yourself, you have to be under 5 feet. So in the matter of minutes it went from her favorite to least favorite ride in the park. For me, I really can't pick my favorite ride but I love Beast, Vortex, Face/Off, FoF, Racer (both ways ) Top Gun, and Delirium.
  18. From another thread... Gates being open gets you into International Street where you can stand at ropes and wait to go to other areas and all rides at ten. In addition to this, Nick Universe opens at 9:30 on Mondays, Action Zone opens at 9:30 on Thursdays, and Coney Mall opens at 9:30 on Fridays (but only for Gold Pass holders).

  20. Until this year when I got my Firehawk photo when I was there the day it opened, I only had the photos that my mom bought me when we rode The Beastie and when Wild Thornberrys was still Kings Mill Log Flume (I believe that's what it was called). My family also has photos of us on Rock n' Roller Coaster, Test Track, Expedition Everest, and the new version of Space Mountain at Disneyland.
  21. Anytime. Just as a hint, go to www.rcdb.com and type in the park name because for all the parks they have links to Google Maps and Windows Local
  22. What about a dim red light throughout one of the tunnels? I think that would add a cool effect at night.
  23. welchce replied to welchce's topic in Trip Reports
Then again, Disney provides it's FastPass service for anyone in the park. All you have to do is swipe your park card and get a ticket with a time.
  24. That's funny, because I searched for about one minute... http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&amp...0_Geauga%20Lake Click that and then click the Bird's Eye View button on the left.
  25. Personally, I wouldn't mind lights in all the tunnels at night. It's kind of like the anti-Beast. I mean it's not like the tunnels make it more dark. You're in the woods at night...
