Camping in Sandusky
I have spent many nights in Camp Sandusky, and I have had no problems what so ever. The bathrooms aren't as clean as ones you may find in your house, but I think that they are good for campground bathrooms. I've camped in a tent, and once I got to stay in the small cabins they have there. The cabins are nothing more than a frame covered in wood with some bunk beds inside, but its a dry place to sleep. All of my trips have been pleasant, and I hope that yours is as well if you decide to go.

Son of Beast Trains
I'm with you. I liked the old trains a lot better. Plus the new trains don't even match the ride! Would you like the trains to be made out of wood? They say Son of Beast on the front of them. How much more could you make the trains match the ride?

Son of Beast Trains
To start this discussion, I will say that I like the new trains much better than the old ones. The old trains were extremely uncomfortable and for any one over 6' extremely difficult to get in the cars in the first place. I actually had scrapes on my knees after riding once from pulling the lap bar down. I still loved the ride, so I was willing to deal with the confined cars, but now they are much better. The old cars did allow for the loop, but I'm willing to sacrifice one element of the ride to make the ride much more enjoyable.

Old or new names?
For the first few weeks after they changed the names, I was right with you. After my first visit to the park since, I have no problem calling the rides what hey are named now. I still slip up every once in a while, but I soon remember and correct my self. (Sometimes sarcastically ) Now that I will be working at the park this summer, I have to call the rides by their new names, or I will confuse many guests who need directions. I honestly don't mind the new names.

Good catch on the webcam pic. I didn't notice the new landscaping up there. It looks like there is only going to be one way to get back to The Beast now instead of multiple paths around the "islands". I was looking forward to standing under the helix, but I don't think thats going to be allowed now.

Pre Kings Island Rituals
I usually just round up the friends that are going with me. I'm the only reason any of my friends have been to KI in the past 4 years. lol Other than leaving 2 hours before the park opens to get there on time, there's nothing special about my mornings. However, After the park closes, we head back to Indy and make our traditional stop at McDonalds in Batesville. Its a pretty lame tradition, but it just started for whatever reason, and we never skip it.

They planted the grass last fall after the splashdown was done being poured. There are many pictures of the area with a decent amount of grass while they were just starting vertical construction. There will be little to no need for any more seed or sod because the grass will just grow back once it gets warm enough. They did a very nice job keeping the area clear of machinery so the grass that's already there won't be disturbed. There will probably be some places that will need to be re-done, but most of it has been taken care of.

I saw a coaster show not too long ago where they showed them using a G-force dummy on Millennium Force. I vaguely remember them saying that it needed to be done once a year. I would assume that since Diamondback is a new ride, they will use the same type of dummy for it at least once.

That just means that it does not have enough speed to make it over the next hill. It just rolls back and forth in between hills until it comes to a stop in the "valley". EDIT: You just beat me!!

Spirit Song 2009
How easy is it to hear the bands out side of Timberwolf? I have never been to Spirit Song due to the 2 hour drive + the massive crowds. Its just never been worth the drive for me. This year, I will at least be in the park when this thing is happening. I LOVE Skillet, Newsboys, Family Force 5, Mercy Me, and David Crowder. Basically everyone who will be there. If I can't get in, I would at least like to hear them.

If they are planning to do a pull through, they don't have a crane large enough to do it. Clifford was the only one that would have been tall enough, and that's been gone for weeks. I vote for the no pull through on this ride. I agree with all the other statements as well.

My question is how will they move the trains out of the storage shed onto the transfer track. I have been looking at as many pictures of Diamondback as I can find and I can't find an answer. Are the center wheels powered in some way? Are there kicker wheels that haven't been installed yet? Will someone have to go out there every morning and manually push the trains? I know its not the last one, but I can't figure this one out. If anyone knows how the other B&M Hypers work, I assume it will be similar.

I did not know that. I did think that it was natural. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I doubt that they will allow creek water to flow freely into the splashdown lake. First thing that come to mind is cleanliness. Not necessarily for the fact that people will be near it, but more for appearances. Creek water will be muddy and look bad. Second thing that comes to mind is regulation. It would be less difficult to pump water out to the lake and let it run back into the lake like a creek would. If you ran a creek into it, you would need to put at least one over flow pipe in to constantly drain the water. Thats not too hard, but then where do you take all that water? Third, if you let a creek run into the lake, you have to deal with all the wildlife that would accompany it. Its just too much to deal with when the alternative is to run a 40 ft pipe with a pump on one end.

I couldn't figure out why they were moving it in the first place. The only conclusion I could come up with is they needed to tell the computer where to stop the transfer track at each position. They could use either sensors or timing the motor. Either way, there is a lot of precision needed and what easier way to do it than actually move the track to each position. If anyone has a better idea of why they moved it, please post it. That's the only one I could think of.

Diamondback's train arrival
When the transfer track is to the side like it is at the moment, all they need to do is get a crane capable of lifting one of the cars, and they just slide the cars on one by one. Once they are on the track, there is some wheel adjustment that takes place, but other than that, that's all they need to do. Its probably much harder than I just made it out to be, but that how they do it.

I don't know where I heard this (I'm pretty sure it was someone here), but I heard that Kings Island chose to leave the supports hollow. I personally love the roar of a B&M. I'm glad the supports won't be filled in.

I believe they are adding the grout to the footings now. On the webcam, a lot of the footings are covered in plastic which, I'm assuming, is to protect the grout from the elements as it hardens or drys or whatever it does.

I just got back on to see if I needed to elaborate on my first comment "Its the same thing", but you all did a very nice job explaining what I meant. Well done. And I was just pointing out that the outcomes are the same seeing as the initial question was concerning the outcome. I probably should have just said that instead, avoiding this whole thing, but I enjoyed the back and forth that resulted.

Do they still need to install the tracks to store the trains in the area of the transfer track? Sorry, don't know the official name for those pieces. I see that the structure is built, not necessarily completed, but I can't tell if the tracks are already in from the views from the webcam. I'm guessing that Adena would do the installation of those as well. I did some research on that question for myself a while ago. I decided that the train will roll along the wheels in the middle of each space, and the sides will rest on something in order to keep it balanced. The reasoning for this is so that the mechanics can have easy access to the wheels and underside of the train for inspection and wheel replacement. The first pic is from KICentral's gallery, and the second one is from rcdb.com showing Nitro's storage shed. Diamondback Nitro If I'm wrong, please let me know. This is just the conclusion I have personally come up with.
