They would not do that if it was not safe, and if that did in fact happen, then I would happily say that the MCBR on FOF is not needed. However, I doubt that that actually happened. The braking system on most, if not all coasters, is programmed in and there is nothing the ride-ops can do to change it. The company that programmed the ride would need to be paid to come in and change the ride program in order for that to happen. I do not know how FOF is operated because I have never worked there, but I do doubt that it's as simple as just turning them on or off.

Jokers Jinx does not even have a trim where FoF does, and it runs perfectly fine that way. Would you be angry if Diamondback's MCBR were used at full force so you got zero airtime for the second half of the ride? Would you consider that unnecessary, considering that it runs fine as-is? All of that money comes from the same pot... are you really more likely to buy food because it's advertised on a shiny new LCD TV? As it has been stated here already, Jokers Jinx is outside and was only made to operate with two trains. Outside is important because you can see where you are going next and you can prepare yourself. Most people who ride FOF have either never ridden it before, or don't know it like the back of their hand like we do. As for Diamondback, it does run fine as-is now, but if there ever were a reason to put the MCBR on full blast, I would not be upset because there would be a reason for it to be done. B&M coasters are designed so well, that it will most likely never have to happen, but if it did, I would not have a problem with it. And just in case you would like to know, I have been completely stopped on the blocks alone on the train. Empty train + early morning + full stop for 5 seconds, and it still wasn't a bad ride. Yes, it is all Cedar Fair's money, but each department gets a cut for improvements, and that's what was done with their cut. I would be more likely to buy food from a place with a nice menu board as opposed to one that's 10 years old and falling apart. Its all about the full package and image is a big part of that.

^As in my post 2 hours ago, the number on the fiberglass is the car number, not the train number. The blue train is number 2. If the 1 is on the same spot on both trains, how does that make the blue train number 1? It means that it is the first car.

Random question - is the Blue train, train 1 or 2? Based on that photo the answer is....Yes! That would be a picture of Car 1 on Train 2.

One very good reason might be rider safety? Maybe? Even after coming to a complete stop on the MCBR on FOF, some of the turns and transitions are very quick and rough, and I am ready for them. Imagine someone who has never experienced FOF before. Someone could very easily get whiplash on that ride even after coming to a complete stop. For the first year I considered myself a coaster enthusiast, I wanted every trim removed from every ride created. Now that I have "grown up" and actually considered what that would mean for the ride experience, I say that they are fine the way they are. I have never come across a trim that I have felt was unnecessary. Whether it is for the ride experience, or maintainance reasons, if you would just look at it from Cedar Fair's point of view, you might understand why they are there. Many people claim that Cedar Fair has an obsession with trims. Trims are there for safety purposes. Therefore, you are saying that Cedar Fair is obsessed with safety, and I'm ok with that. Are you saying that you don't ever want KI to upgrade anything? While they do cost money, its not money that would go to rides regardless of how it was spent. Different departments get different budgets, and its up to those departments to spend the money wisely. If they think that nice new menu TV's wil bring in a few more people, that's their choice, and if it succeeds, those TV's will have paid for themselves in a matter of days. (especially at 20 bucks a person) Since someone might bring it up, if the new test your strength game was not bought, that money would have gone to something else in the Games department. Just sayin'

For me, it is Diamondback. I worked there this year, and probably rode it at least once every time I worked. Sometimes more. Right now my count is at 150 with Beast coming in second at 66.

The gift shop at Diamondback's exit sells flip-flops. That why you have to wear them. More nickels for Cedar Fair. I wore a pair of flip-flops one day just so I could see how easy it was to lose them. I stuck my feet out in the air the entire ride and didn't lose them. It just all depends on the fit of the flip-flops. I am also one who will vocally wonder how people lose them (when I'm not working). I've actually caught one cell phone and another hit my wrist as I reached up to grab it. I didn't catch the second one unfortunately. Its always a good laugh when someone in the back of the train comes back with an object that started the ride in the front.

I'm the greeter guy who said that I liked your shirt. I love seeing members at the park. I haven't been to any of the events, so I only know people by seeing the shirts or recognizing them from pictures I have seen. The other person sitting with me was Captain Nemo. ^^It has been said many times on this site and even in this topic that if you ask nicely, you will almost always be given the seat you request. Without a seat assigner, the station would indeed be a madhouse. A lot of guests can't even figure out what to do in the station after you have told them multiple times. You have to remember that most guests are not coaster enthusiasts and don't know exactly how things work before they are told what to do. With a train moving out out every minute, there would be a ridiculous amount of empty seats. Then the fact that there would be no SRL would make the line even longer and add more empty seats. I hope the separator stays for a while because it fills trains and keeps the line moving.

All you need to do is say that you've ridden before and that should be it. There are so many people that walk through the entrance its hard to remember any one person. The wristband would be a good idea if all rides in the park were exactly the same as far as fitting. Imagine having to wear 10 different wristbands just so you don't have to tell the ride op that you've ridden before. Just my thoughts.

(Insert game show fail sound) You clearly have not ridden DB or Magnum at CP in the front car of the train. You are literally thrown against the restraints, it seems like more than enough negative G forces to eject you from the ride. I will respond to just a few of the flaws in your logic. 1) I said, "in this day and age." And yet, you attempt to support your position by using as an example Magnum, which was designed over 20 years ago by a company that no longer exists. With all of the technological advances in the last two decades, I don't believe Magnum is an appropriate example. 2) Lets assume an engineering company knew that one of their coasters was capable of ejecting a rider, but built it in that manner anyway. In the unlikely event that anyone was ejected, they would be sued literally out of existence, and the individuals who allowed a coaster to built knowing of the possibility of an ejection of a passenger would be subject to criminal prosecution and prison. 3) My sources are engineers with advanced degress who may or may not have "ridden DB or Magnum at CP in the front car of the train." The point of me relaying this information is to reassure people that there is no need to be afraid of roller coasters. When you are on a coaster you are in one of the safest places in the park. In this day and age, Intamin has built 2 coasters that I know of with past vertical drops. Simple physics will tell you that you would be ejected from your seat on those first drops alone. The second hill on Maverick would also eject you from your seat. I know this because every time I go over that hill, I am thrown into the shoulder harness with almost enough force to hurt. The reason they can design coasters like this is because of the fail safe harnesses that accompany them. EDIT: Vortex beat me to the point. It was also better.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I love the fact that there aren't any seat belts. It makes my job easier, it makes the line move faster, and it makes the ride more enjoyable.

For the past 4 years I have averaged 5ish trips a year. My goal this year is to beat that. Working in the park might help my chances.

I'm sure you won't have too hard of a time convincing some people to re-ride Diamondback.

Height won't be an issue at all. I'm 6'3" and I can't even put my feet on the floor of the car. Waist is also not the main concern with these restraints. Its more about your thighs. Because of that fact, I would just have to recommend trying out the test seat before you get in line. Seeing as the line will most likely be way out of the entrance, I would suggest going to the entrance and trying the test seat before you wait however long just to get to the entrance to the que.

Last year I attended my first opening day and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the crowd. I was expecting at least an hour wait on all roller coasters. I will be at the park again this year for opening day. Working or not. If your friend has never been to the park, opening day might be an excellent first visit. I imagine Diamondback will draw the crowds away from the other wise more popular attractions meaning less lines for you and your friend. This of course is just speculation. If you want a really good guess, you should check back on April 19th. But seriously, crowds or not, I'm sure you will have an excellent time in the park if you decide to go.

I was born April 30th 1989. A whole 6 days before Magnum XL-200 was opened. I don't know of any Kings Island rides that opened in 89'. It would be interesting to find out if any one here knows.

Cool new pics!! D-back looks so tranquil without the future masses and hellions! I'm still baffled at the queue being within a Dwight Howard's arm-reach away from the lift motor...but I guess!! I wonder how loud this will be? I doubt it will be very loud. We might not even notice its there. On Flight Deck, the motor is right above the front of the station, and I never would have known that it was there if I hadn't looked for it before. The only noise that might be problematic would be the anti-rollback device. I've never ridden a B&M Hyper, so I can't attest to how noisy they are.

I thought we were talking about the new white outline around the track inside the splashdown. I actually never thought about people, and I'm kinda surprised that that thought never crossed my mind. Along the lines of the fish, I know they can swim through fences, thats why I said net. I know its a stretch to think that they would put fish in there, but think of Maverick and Mantis. Neither of those rides splash in their lakes, but they do have fish in the treated water. Your probably right that there won't be fish, but it was just one of my ideas.

If they put fish in the splashdown, that could be a net extending to the floor to keep the fish away from the scoops on the trains when they pass by. That would obviously hurt the fish and possibly the scoops if the fish were big enough. Other than that I can't think of any reasons to have that little thing in the splashdown.
