Kings Island closes early (7/10/18) due to “suspicious item” found
Why don't you get a job for the bomb squad then, since you are so brave?

KI lets slip plans for 2019 exist on IG today?
Vortex has one of the higher capacities in the park. Unless the park is busy, it's not going to have a wait. Same with AE, even with 2 train operation. Go on a Saturday and it'll have a 45 minute wait. It's still my third favorite coaster in the park.

Kings Island 2018 Discussion Thread
I had heard what the park released this morning. Although the location I heard was different.

I can understand the frustration, but from what I am hearing on here and elsewhere, it was an emergency situation. Getting guests out of the park safely is the number 1 priority. It also sounds like this all happened very quickly.

Cedar Point discount tickets
It might be worth upgrading to Platinum. You can upgrade to Platinum for the difference in price. When you add in Parking/admission, and if you go more than one day, it might be worth it.

Disappointed by ride advertisement?
I'm not sure what was worse, the actual delivery of the ride, or the fact I had to spend like 4 straight weekends baking in the sun, blocking off the pathway on the West side of the ride telling people they had to go around.

The Journey To Find The Inner Terpy- silver2005's Pennsylvania & New Jersey Trip Planning and PTR
Not sure if you are a beer drinker, but Troegs Brewing is less than a mile from the park. It's a really cool facility and they have good food as well. The milkshakes at the Hershey Factory are incredible.

New Roller Coaster in Columbus...
That actually looks like a really fun flat ride to me, but yeah, not much of a coaster.

Yelling at ride ops??
It's always been a problem. I remember my parents had me step on my tippy toes at Universal Studios when I was 6 to ride something.

Yelling at ride ops??
One time at Vortex I had a kid with an orange wrist band (I think it was 52" then, I don't remember) who was well under the 48" requirement for Vortex. His older brother appeared to be about 52" tall, so Boodah is right on this one.

I HIGHLY doubt they allowed her to climb out.

Kings Island 2018 Discussion Thread
I barely even eat meals at the park, I can't imagine trying to eat more than one!

Woman falls under Diamondback train
It appears to be so, but I'm still shocked that it happened. Although as you and I both know, we should never be shocked by how "stupid" people can be.

Woman falls under Diamondback train
We need to retrofit the station so this never happens! What a tragedy!

4th of July at Kings Island
The sign board at front was advertising it when I passed on my way to work this morning, and it was showing the I Street light show in the AD, so I would assume there will be lighting.

Vortex speed
The magnetic trim brakes don't help the cause, instead of them gradually slowing the ride down, they slam on hard on the drop and before the second drop.

Antique Car Tracks
This is the key point. Kinzel and Falfas would have turned this park into Fantasy Farm.

Antique Car Tracks
I'm not sure how accurate that $20 million number is, but if it is indeed true, Kings Islands spent $40M on two attractions that lasted a total of 17 seasons (9 for The Crypt and 8 for Son of Beast (that's a generous number as well.) Paramount spent a lot of money in the late 90's to early 00's, but look what they got in return, as mentioned above: Action Theater... gone for the most part. Son of Beast: terrible layout, overall ride, etc... gone. Tomb Raider: excellent addition, de-themed- now gone. Scooby's Ghost Coaster: gone. Italian Job: meh addition. still there- special effects never tended to. Spent a bunch of money on things that never worked right, the "drifting effect" and the "Jackhammering" down the steps. Instead of stupid gimmicks they could have built a better ride. Scooby Doo and Haunted Mansion: still exists- but far inferior to ride it replaced, guns rarely work correctly. They had some successes: Nick Universe Waterworks/Boomerang Bay Delirium Drop Zone Flight of Fear Invertigo - Low capacity. I imagine if you compare what Cedar Point invested in the time that Paramount owned the park, Cedar Point would be far beyond Kings Island.

Vortex speed
As an additional note, I don't see any way it could have run any slower. There are no trim brakes. The only difference I could imagine is the MCBR slowing the ride down a little more, but that wouldn't impact the majority of the ride.

Antique Car Tracks
It was another short sighted decision by Paramount, who continued to invest at a rate at about 1/4 of what Cedar Point was doing. They spent a bunch of money on crap that never worked and ended up getting a very mediocre ride in return.
