  1. FoF and Crypt can shut down due to weather as well, particularly if there's a lot of lightning. I know when I worked there in 2005, FoF did shut down for weather-related reasons at least once because I heard it over the managers' radios.
  2. It was fairly busy this past Saturday, but not all of it was Trills & Thrills - they also had Music in the Parks and Music Showcase Festival. The same three events will coincide this coming Saturday as well, so I would expect to see a lot of school kids again.
  3. For your photo contest entry, I vote for #2. The train going under DB with the tower in the background really shows off the coolness of KI
  4. There's a sign at DBack that says it all - "Preferred seating not guaranteed". It mainly comes down to how busy it is. During the ERT and last rides this past weekend, they were letting us choose where we wanted to sit. However, every other time I've been there, they've been assigning rows to you (eg they tell you which row to get in).
  5. Just for the record, that offer is good now through June 30th - not just this coming weekend. I'll probably wait until it's a bit warmer and then hit the park. I also want to make it to one of their Dive-In Movies this year (for those not familiar with the park, Dive-In Movies are when they put up a big screen at the far end of the wave pool and show a movie while you get to relax in the pool).
  6. You really should go check it out. It's a completely different atmosphere than Boomerang Bay (lots more trees, real sand and a whole lot less concrete...), and has something for everyone - including their signature body slide The Cliff, offering enthusiasts a great view of I-71 before dropping them 5 stories in a matter of seconds...
  7. Around here, most pools open Memorial Day weekend and close after Labor Day weekend. The Beach just opens a week earlier and closes a week later than everyone else. Boomerang Bay opens Memorial Day weekend as well.
  8. Saw this on The Beach's website and thought I'd post it here for anyone who's interested... See http://www.thebeachwaterpark.com for more info
  9. I think what we need in Boomerang Bay is a good water coaster. We've got enough slides as it is, and while Tasmanian Typhoon is fun, a water coaster would be a great addition. The Beach has had one for years...
  10. I don't understand the reason for the passes either. I realize they don't want large groups going into the SRL and then expecting to sit together, but it's the responsibility of the guests to pay attention to the signs. If you can't figure out that "single rider line" means your group will be split up, then you should have to live with not being able to ride with other members of your group. My sister and I went through the SRL together twice on the 2nd, and nobody said anything. We both ended up on the same train both times, but we weren't even expecting that.
  11. Keep June 30th open as well - that's my birthday
  12. I'm not sure how easy it is for them to modify the ride programs. However, all we'd really need to do is convince maintenance to come out, flip it into manual and "accidentally" leave the trim and MCBR brakes open...
  13. I kept track on my phone as well. The built-in "notes" application is quite useful for such things
  14. Considering how successful this year's event was, I'm sure they will. I noticed many people throughout the park both days telling Don how much they were enjoying it, particularly at the end of Sunday as Don was standing at the entrance to DBack shaking hands with each and every Ride Warrior
  15. Despite my being so quiet this past weekend (I apologize to those who were a bit weirded out by that - I promise to be more sociable in the future...), I also had a great time meeting all the KIC'ers and taking part in the fun activities. This past weekend was by far the most fun I've had at KI in a long time and I hope KI does it again in the future
  16. Don't make me start with Jurassic Park jokes (for those who are wondering, Weird Al Yankovic did a parody of MacArthur Park called Jurassic Park about the popular movie).
  17. My point exactly. New Orleans wants the park reopened, but they don't seem to be willing to help, and SF obviously can't afford to do it themselves. I doubt the federal government has any stimulus money set aside for amusement park restoration projects either.
  18. What is New Orleans expecting to gain from this? They seem eager to have the park reopened, but they aren't offering any assistance or incentives to Six Flags for the project.
  19. If it rains early in the morning but stops by the time the park is open, then the crowds will largely depend on the forecast for the rest of the day (cloudy or otherwise). If it's going to be cloudy but warm, there will likely be a fairly large crowd. However, if it's supposed to rain again later or it's going to be cool, the crowds won't be as large.
  20. I'll have to go through the photos on my phone and my camera later to see what I want to send in. I just wish I hadn't left my memory card at home on Saturday.

I still think they should just get rid of Launch Pad (EuroBungy) and stick a small classic ride up there instead. I'm not sure how much room they have, but they could even flatten it out if they need more room. That queue line is too long for a pay-to-play attraction.
  22. On Saturday right after we got off the train, I was standing there taking some DB shots with my cell phone (I'd accidentally left the memory card for my digital camera at home and didn't feel like leaving the park to hit Kroger or Wal-Mart for a new one). A random guest walks by, sounding like he knows everything there is to know and explains that if we want to get some good pics of "the Firehawk", we should go further down in Rivertown to where the final hill is, and that it shoots up a huge rooster tail of water (as if we didn't already know that...).
  23. Was it "The Old Man (Is Down The Road)"? Don't think so. It was one that I wasn't really familiar with.
  24. I heard another John Fogerty song the other day (besides "Centerfield"). I think it was "Long Dark Night", but I don't remember.
  25. "Put Me In Coach" is actually called "Centerfield". Great song though
