SKYHAWK
Lake Erie is considered the Walleye capital of the world and the number of people that visit the Islands, fish and go to Cedar Point is pretty amazing. I think its a factor in the whole situation, but still beleive that CP had raised prices too high and patrons were no longer willing to pay the price over the last couple years. This is the big reasson like you said CP is dropping the prices for next year, its a move long overdue.

Sandusky has always been a ghost town in the winter and still is with the additions of GBL and CAB. Thats the climate CP has always operated in and they have done well. CP is not the only driving force in the Sandusky region, you also have the islands in the Lake that attract a very large number of tourists every year. Honestly less people went to the Sandusky bay region this year because the Walleye season was almost non existent. Lake warmed up to fast in the western basin and really effected the entire tourist industry on that side of the lake. Anyways, CP for the last couple of years has been continually raising prices and becoming very similar to Disney in Price. The distance is not that much greater for large surrounding cities when you compare PKI and CP. Anyways people still bought the same amount of gas these last few years if not more. We just complained more about it. CP lost buisness because they raised prices only focused on additons for thrill seekers and forgot the segment that spends the most money at the park. Families...

Changes I think that PKI needs
Running a park is based on continual improvement and I think PKI has done a great job of that, but heres what I would like to see changed.... I could not have described Wings better, it needs major attention and fast. When you win a basketball you win a deflated basketball. I hate all of the moron that bounce their ball all throughout the park and look like they have never touched a ball. I dont care how good or bad a dribler you are, just stop it. Anyone else get the erge to steal their ball and smack them upside their head with it. The dinning at PKI is not that great. CedarPoint has amazing dinning options throughout the park and as a former seasson pass holder I have sampled them all numerous times. They truly have something for everyone. PKI has fast food and thats it and I dont want to see BobEvans or AppleBees. I want something unique like BubaGumps. Something I cant eat at two exits away. If the park is nonsmoking, enforce it. Allow nonseason pass holders to enter the Boomerang Bay entrance. Not all of my friends have seasson passes. Kinda dumb that they have to go through the main gate then leave the park and drive down to BB with their hand stamped. If you are going to make a themed attraction, take care of the theme just like you do the ride. Top Gun, Adventure Express, Flight of Fear. Return the Festhaus to its orginal glory and make it one of the central locations in the park like it use to be. Can I please have a polka band and flowing beer again.

We all want more and will always want more, but I would not say they are going downhill. This isnt Cedar Point where they only build coasters and are just now focusing on flat rides and have to add anything for the families. I love CP but they have neglected their family and childs areas in the park.

He said that? Hmm looks like someone has added some extra verbage and made their own offiical announcement for next year. From the Desk of RailRider... 11/08/2005 Kings Island will be adding (Insert Your Choice Here) for the 2006 seasson to be the anchor attraction of Nick Universe.....

Downhill??? Yet attendance has been increasing and they are continually adding new attractions, areas, and events. I honestly think PKI is growing and prospering when other parks are having some down time right now. Example Cedar Point. Just wanting some clarification on your opinion. Very large statement to make without providing any reasson as to why.

We will see a War of The Worlds ride at Universal before PKI or any Paramount park even gets a snif of that franchise. Sucks, but Stevey isnt going to turn his back on Universal, especially since he helped create most of IOA. P.S. Screamscape has confirmed Avatar will be a DiskO with inward facing seats on a skateboard. I guess I need to watch this cartoon to figure out the theme.

Avatar?
Makes perfect sense why they would face the seats inside instead of outside, for height restrictions and all. Well NU so far is not living up to the hype. I love the DiskO coaster for what it is, but to lessen its thrills for NU and to also make it one of the signature attractions for the new expansion. Sorry but this is kinda lame to have Avatar be a DiskO that is going to be an anchor for NU. ^Thats a nickles worth.

Nicely put Capt... So I guess a 600 foot gyro drop would be only 500 feet about ground since 100 is below ground??? Anyways makes no sense for CP to add a gyro they have Power Tower....

Yes but we also have TR:TR and IJ:ST. Just saying that if current trends hold true and PKI wants to theme new attractions to movies, shows, or brands then the next big thrill ride will probably need a good action movie theme. Unless they go generic like Delerium. Just hard to do because of the craptacular boxoffice action movies PKI has had lately.

A Special Thank You To Everyone
Thanks to everyone who keeps this site running, the great people at PKI that keep the park running, and especially everyone on here for creating a great community for everyone. We may disagree on some things and agree on others, but nobody takes it personaly or holds a grudge. We have a great community and I thank everyone for adding their 2 cents here and there and for creating some great forums and debates on various topics. Heres looking forward to WinterFest, the 2006 seasson, and the growth of PKIC. ~RailRider

King's Island, not able to get a B&M?
Yeah a B&M multilooper will replace Vortex and the new B&M woodie will replace SOB. Some people will not let rumors go.

^ I know, I was just making it more clear for everyone else

CP is not short on real estate although everyone thinks they are. Look at how they made Millie, TTD, and Wicked Twister fit. Nobody thought that could be done. Although for CP to expand like they are planning the parking lot will eventually be turned in to park, but not Six Flags style.

^ I was talking about movies you could theme a ride to. Just not much good in the way of action.
-
Mack coaster = Avatar
I agree it is going to get hard for PKI to keep theming rides to movies when your movies arent that great or popular. Doesnt make sense to theme rides after movies people havent seen or dont know about.

I think the line will move good because the ride will have a good capcity for a flat ride, not to mention the fact that they can load two different swings. Should move good and CP is great at making their lines move. Yes except for the whole spinning aspect, the instantaneous launch, and the near misses with the other swing, SkyHawk and MaxAir will give the same ride sensation. Like I said once Ill take a ScreeminSwing at PKI anytime.

Festhaus
Paramount is 10 times better than Six Flags so lets not complain, because they are better than a lot of ops companies out there.

I think for the small footprint that the DiskO takes up it is really a good ride for its size. I will say that if that is going to be the anchor attraction for NU, then NU will not live up to the hype. The DiskO would make a good secondary attraction.

Voyage
Lets just hope that the steel structure on Voyage does not cause roughness like it does on Villian. Given thats not the only reasson that ride is rough, but it is a major factor.

Fearfest sucked this year
They branded it, told a good story, and gave it a unique creepy vibe. I rather enjoyed it because it was different than anything else.

Yeah its all the same, thats like saying ocean motion at CP is like a non spining version of Maxair, because they both go in a back and forth arc movement. I agree with Snapper they are nothing alike, especially in the fact that they work on Compressed air. Hence you are being lauched for the first swing up and also for the downthrust. Well now CP will have three rides the same, Ocean Motion, Maxair, and Skyhawk. Nice logic. Also Screamin Swings cannot go upside down because of the way the tower is constructed. Look at the various pictures of the top piece of the tower and you can see it is an impossibility. I for one wish PKI would get a Screamin Swing, because our current version isnt that reliable.

Yeah they were freaky pictures all right. Very different than anything else around.
